  • can we see some more teaching/technique type vids please ?

  • Do you front squat 200kg ??

  • Hi Cara. I'm a master lifter. I started when I was 38-years-old 10 months ago; I am now 39. I absolutely love the sport. At any rate, being new Oly, I am still learning who's who in the sport. I think you are an amazing athlete. You are a good person, intelligent, beautiful, and not to mention kick-ass strong. You represent female athletes in a very positive way. Is 2012 London in your plans?

  • I love this. It demystfies oly lifting for everyday folks. Admittedly, she's not at all claiming to make them experts at oly lifts - just giving the basic idea of the lifts. Great clip!

  • Olympic lifting should be the main focus at local gyms. Snatch and Clean work strength, power, speed, endurance, stability, and flexibility. Right now I have to train the snatch and clean without the olympic type bars that have more whip and spin in the collars :(

  • I wish more of the girls doing olympic weightlifting were like you. I see a lot of elitism amongst my fellow weightlifters, especially the girls. You are a charmer. You haven't posted more vids and haven't heard from you for a while, what are you up to these days? Still competing at the professional level? Look forward to hearing from you. All the best. Rogelio

  • Hi Cara!

Olympic lifter I'm from Colombia! in the first week of October and would like to travel to Louisiana to know that opportunities exist to train at your gym? I'm preparing for a championship club here and not want to lose my progress.

My personal record is 130/160 and compete in the category of 77 kg, and wrote an email to Dr. Pierce and I am awaiting a response!

I appreciate your attention and wish you much success in your work!

  • If you're a good coach, you can teach anyone in 5 minutes!

....but not everyone's that great of an instructor. :\

  • Cara, are you training for London 2012? If so, good luck. Also, are you going to put up more videos? I really enjoy them.

  • Awesome. People benefit so much from athletic training that whenever I see someone teach someone else a tool that they can use to shape thier body into something new, I have to smile. You never know how much of a difference it can make. One of my freinds asked me out of the blue to come into the gym one day, and I've never looked back since, and that all started just on a whim.

  • This is awesome,

I only wish I was also cute enough to pull this off.

Random guy offering girls on the street how to snatch = bad bad news.

  • interesting. I would love to see the actual instruction and see the form of the student. I have been working on them for 5 years now and I still suck!

  • The hardest thing about the olympic lifting stuff has got to be technique. I was a powerlifter and I thought there was a lot of technique in that, but with this crud here, your form has got to be perfect. Otherwise that weight ain't going up.

  • Looking forward to more of these videos Cara! You are such an inspiration to me. I started Oly lifting in January (I'm 28 yrs, 78 kg, 47S/59CJ) and I love it. If I can do it, I guess anyone can. I often think about what you said in your blog: don't think about why you CAN'T do a lift, think about why you CAN.

  • i'm working on building my clean and jerk weight now. I learned alot of my technique from watching your vids! ure MUCH easier on the eyes than other people on here. What helped you "get your weight up" in the c & j the fastest? deadlifts? If you ever train here in atlanta, i'd love 2 meet u sweetie.

  • Awesome! Keep up the good work!

  • hi Cara, thank for the great video. Im a rugby player from New Zealand and Ive added Olmypic style lifting in to my workout routine and it is killer. Ive now it dne now for 2 months and now im jumping higher and running faster. Ive done a little power lifting and strongman but not compatitively which both have alot of benefits, but not like Olympic style lifting. I am truely converted

  • Cara you are my new hero

  • Sorry to disappoint Cara but olympic style weightlifting is hard. And i want to keep it that way. If it were easy then it wouldn't be challenging. I'm so passionate about I count snatch reps at night. Seriously, this is an amazing sport and how it has shaped my physique has been better than any other lifting I've done that I only perform o lifting. No cardio. No crossfit. No abs. No bodybuilding (yuck)...just o lifting.

  • Hi cara, I have 2 questions. What is the best lift to improve explosivenes and what the best lift for overall workout. Thanks.

  • This is great. Who better to learn from than a super pro. It still blows my mind to see you squat 135 kilos for twelve reps like it's nothin. Infact, that's what I just looked up to see you again and I see you made a new vid. You won't be wasting your time. I'll watch and share every last one.

  • Great! You'll want to pick up my olympic weightlifting instructional video. Coming soon!

  • looks interesting, havnt seen it yet, im mikeyburger1, how are you? your superb btw!!

  • I'm doing well mikeyburger1. Thank you!

  • Cara u is the bestest dudette. lol

  • im confused, you didn't show us how she performed the lift after you taught her.. i'd assume it wasn't too good hah.

    cool concept though.

  • Thanks adarqui. She did really well!

  • Cara, you still training at LSUS?

  • No, I took a little time off and moved to California. Back in the gym though! I enjoy the olympic lifts so much they always end up in my workout routine, whether I'm training for the Olympics or just staying fit.

  • 1ST! Didnt know if you'd ever put up another vid; its been a minute. You still look fantastic. Are you still competing?

  • Thank you. I took some time off but would like to gain strength and enjoy another competition. The 2008 Olympic Trials was by far my favorite meet over 18 years of competing. It all starts in the gym with a little bit of weight, so more training videos on the way!

  • @caraheads You are my motivation.I am a corrections officer and I injured myself at work.Just watching your videos inspired me to train harder and I am getting better.

  • Well, this was out of the blue. Are you going to do more videos similar to this?

  • hi prophecy2fulfill. The video content will vary, but will be related to Olympic -style weightlifting...technique, strength, flexibilty, etc. Thanks for your question.

  • Cool. I'm always on here looking for different ways to work out. I'll be keeping myself posted.
