i laid the carpet at his old house in haslemere in deepest surrey, beautiful place, and he was a real gentleman, but was always a fan anyway.but you dont wanna say that and make yourself look like pure cheese so i just had a laugh with him.best version imo is on hit
I like this version but I heard one that was actually better in my opinion. I'm not sure if it was ever officially released but I think it was included as part of a test pressing of Up. Of course, the song never made it onto the official release. Anyone know if that version is available anywhere?
I know of a version that was featured in the game Myst Online: Uru Live/Uru Complete Chronicles that never made it on to the Uru OST but DID make it on to the Peter Gabriel Hits album. It's not quite so... I'm not sure what the word is. Synthesized, I guess? But that might be the version you're looking for.
Well actually I've heard the one on Hit and even that isn't the one I mean. I know that it was available as a P2P download several years ago, probably around the time Up came out, and I had heard that Burn You Up was included on a demo version of Up before the official release so I assumed it was from that. That's been my favorite version of it so far, even though I can't seem to find it anywhere lol.
I'm.. guessing you're -not- talking about Up the movie, right? That was recent, and you said 'demo' which leads me to believe game of some kind?
Unfortunately all I do know is the Uru one, which... as far as I could tell was the same as Hit, but I'd need to go back and listen to my Uru end credits to be 100% sure.
Gabriel is always evolving his music so it's entirely possible more than two versions exist.
@CygnusRoc Right - it was a pre-release mix. I think I jst heard the one you're looking for with a very cool video made by a fan! Take a listen...is that the one? Posted by gio 1958 on youtube. Lemme know it that's it.
Jah Wobble is my inspiration as a bass player. He doesn't need a lot of slap tricks, just a melodic bass line that draws you in. And, of course, how could you go wrong putting him with Peter Gabriel.
Maybe but I think Peter Gabriel has done quite well overall and has been received very well in most parts of the world. He isn't an established artist for nothing.
The original version plays on URU in two ways: Zandi's radio, and the URU: Ages beyond MYST credits. The latter, however, happens only after you install the game. Sadly, it's a one-shot.
i love peter gabriels music, and the whole of genesis's collaboation. I have to say that peters lyrical talent is supreme and i think he is an incredible man for not turning to pop music! He IS music
Peter Gabriel is an artist who continues to prove how multifaceted/talented he is. In this era of commercialized/generic sounding "fluff" songs, listening to his latest collaboration is refreshing.

A world in which Peter Gabriel doesn't get the respect and the airplay his brilliance deserves is one sorry world. Draw your own conclusions.
