  • Does it go "hey listen" all the time

  • i know they are blind. i was just saying that's a lot of weight and gear. but its a cool invention if u could get sponsored and maybe lower the weight and all the gadgets to a smaller more compact fit. i like this a lot dude nice!

  • u look like a noob of some sorr with all that gear XD

  • @zombie0Breath they are blind...

  • Great * *!!

  • Super Arbeit Jungs :))

  • That's incredible; a specially built device would be much more compact and practical, and given enough time for development and miniaturization, this could be a major difference for the blind in the future.

  • Why would you want AIDS if you're already blind?

  • @xXeeDeeXx These stupid finns... Why dont you learn English plz, as my roommate says "Juntit" I believe it means "rednecks" or somethin in Finn, hah = )

  • @Muffe187 English motherfucker! Do you speak it?!

I think my comment is in perfect grammar

  • @xXeeDeeXx HA!

  • Do i have to use condom while using this?

  • Tolle Idee! Hoffentlich gibt das der Industrie gute Impulse, damit behinderten Menschen noch mehr Lebenskomfort ermöglicht werden kann.

    LG AP

  • 1. you can set your laptop so it won't turn off if you close it. That would fix the room problem in your backpack.

    2. If one were to use an Emotiv headset with this, then a blind disabled man would be able to walk and see.

  • BUT STILL SUCKS TO BE BLIND....

  • Gratuliere zur genialen Erfindung. Bestimmt eine gute Sache..

  • Modern technology would easily allow a helmet or headband to have two cameras in it. This is amazing.

A pair of electronic eyes that simply help the blind do even more. Simple, yet profound.

  • BS!

  • Leute, das ist einfach der Hammer! Gratulation!

  • Fashion is not a concern on a prototype. If community has a demand for this you can make a lot smaller ones for mass production. How fast can it work atm?(response time and max distance of obstacles for notifications)

  • como es el nombre de la cancion?

  • Klasse!

  • Awesome! BTW, what´s the name of the song? Anybody knows?

  • whats the name of the song ? :)

  • Nice jobs guys!

  • Nice job..keep working

  • WoW ! It's amazing, congratulations guys !!! Awesome !!!

  • ..and that's how cyborgs were invented!

  • Practical and fashionable!

  • Awesome job! My daughter is visually impaired & when I see things like this, it just makes me feel better about what advantages technology can have in her future.

  • Very interesting. Tech heading in the right direction.

  • Pessoas ajudando pessoas. Xbox jogo para se divertir, conect jogo par se divertir e eles utilizaram a tecnologia para ajudar as pesoas. Não tem preço. Bom vindo ao opem source.

  • Add a GPS to it and it will be 100%. Specially if the GPS can be commanded by voice. The "geeky" looks can be fixed using dark sunglasses with two small cameras on each side replacing the kinect.

How much processing power does the software consumes? would a smartphone be able to run it? that would also solve the GPS problem.

A smartphone developed for blind people with this functionality would be a great business since it would get sponsorship/support from governments.

  • i see microsoft mess up on quite a few things *cough cough" games for windows *cough* but they've done pretty good with this kinect, ill give them a cookie for that

  • The concept is there, so it can only get better. Miniaturization and feature implementation are the way to go.

  • Who the fuck would dislike this??

  • greate work! and nice t-shirt :)

  • Guys you simply rock! it's incredible to see that iu care about other people and you are makin this amazing program! :D keep it that way!! :D best wishes!

  • @4shym3r lmao get real. they only care about the money they can make off the thing there in collage

  • @BestSenario44 or they care about the thrill of inventing. Thought of that?

  • great job!!

  • VERY uncanny prototype, but the concept is awesome.

  • A dog is more efficient

  • "HEY, LISTEN"

  • I clicked on this thinking it was going to be a silly little "HEY LISTEN!" joke, I am pleasantly surprised that it's instead something beneficial to mankind. Hooray for surpassed expectations!

  • Lol @ the 1 guy that Disliked this. STOP THAT Bill Gates!

  • nice proof of concept. Now make it non-fugly.

  • Oh my god what is that music?

  • @SkyCaptanio It was really bothering me, too, but I think I remember. I used to have a Macbook and this music would play during Photobooth slideshows.

  • Find a way to shrink this down into a pair of dark sunglasses and a small wallet sized computer unit you keep in your pocket and this thing will be a winner.

  • Looks good but I didn't hear any "HEY!" or "LISTEN!" at the start of each sentence that came from the artificial voice.

  • autonomous SEGWAY with better 3D camera than the KINECT:

  • very cool.. thanks for posting this

  • amazing video man, in a few year the will minuature the kinect and it will be portable and awesome! who knows, self driving cars etc. thats would be cool

  • add some gps navigation like you get in satnavs too,so it tells you take the next turning left or right, and voice reconition ,so the user can say i want to go to supermarket and plots a course, other idea is to use tech like the cyberdyne disable limb enhancements as they can be programmed to obey instructions like a type of auto pilot then and like the other comment about porting to android ,ios, but i bet you guys already thought of that ;)

  • Wonderful!

  • amazing!

  • Sigan Adelante !!!! ;)

  • this is so much better than dog... keep up the good work

  • ohhhhhhsome!!!!!

  • If they can port this software to a mobile device like a smartphone then it can become more portable and easier to use. But all efforts in these directions are appreciated. Contact me if you need branding for this project.. will do it for free....

  • Firts Enemy The Money

  • Whats music?

  • are you fing serious with this cause if so that is bad ass I tip my hats of to you guys

  • Leave it to the Germans to create some pretty amazing stuff. Now give it to the Japanese to make it compact, the Italians to make it look neat, the Americans to heavily market it, and the Chinese to create their own imitations. So excited!

  • It's selfish of me to say motion gaming is just a trend, cause its leading to better tech that improves lives.

  • Somebody could steal the laptop, it's a blind guy.. It's just a possibility

  • @shocoroll6 That's why there are phones such as android that can do similar things that laptop does. For development and release it's easier to use laptop, etc.

  • Super Arbeit Jungs! Der Hack und die gesammte Konstruktion ist mal was ganz nützliches. Wir haben darüber bei uns berichtet auf live4d.de

  • I dont quite understand how the vibro tactile feedback is meant to work, when does it activate?

  • @3rikun maybe when you're headed into an obstacle, if you fail to follow the audio instructions, or maybe right before you fall off a ledge or smth

  • Very creative

  • Excellent!.. very clever.. good jobs.!

  • Very interesting work.

The problem seems to be passing all the information the kinect receives to the

blind person. Simple SavNav like instructions are a bit dissapointing.

A walknav GPS for blind people could guide you like this from inbuilt maps.

How can you pass to the blind person postions and angles of walls, presence of overhanging objects or position and speed of oncomming people?

Still I think this has great potential!

    Keep up the fantastic work

  • sehr geil.

  • Fantastic work!

  • This is another reason that Microsoft is doing better to let hackers to create an open source of the Kinect instead of suit them, So bad sony doesn't look at this way.

  • @conexy2k7 Perhaps you're forgetting that while the Kinect hackers make awesome stuff like this, the Sony hackers basically make piracy possible.

  • @erikvduyn @LojiQaen @Countchunkula well, c4eva enable the dvd drive flashing to play burned games, but he dont get sued, MS contacted him. Also the PS3 security has been breached to enable OtherOS and homebrew aplications, piracy was open before that with the PS Jailbreak.

  • @conexy2k7 Although I agree this is so awesome, and I'm glad Microsoft is treating it this way, Sony isn't looking down on hacking like this. Sony is suing people for hacking their system in a way that allows them to pirate games without paying. It's a different story entirely, and I think you're misrepresenting them.

  • @LojiQaen Then they a re suing the wrong people , the should sue waninkoko or Hermes (?) for that , the rest was just trying to bring OtherOS back and do some research. BTW , I don't own a PS3

  • @CuentaSpam23 I agree they're suing the wrong people, I don't like the fact that they're suing at all, but I just wanted to point out that stuff like this wasn't what they're suing over.

  • @conexy2k7 Microsoft doesn't let people mod Xbox's also, the Kinect hacking it's a totally different scenario from what Sony's preventing.

  • @conexy2k7 microsoft has to open up - they're losing many battlefronts right across the board as far as technology goes. The free market is the greatest source of creativity.

  • @conexy2k7 Helping the blind, and illegally pirating any game free.

There is a HUGE difference, of course Sony would allow hacking if only good stuff came out of it but it hasn't so they won't.

Sony makes most their money from games so if people could download them free they'd go bankrupt, or close to it.

  • i've been waiting for people to start doing this. great stuff.

  • I dont think blind people really care about the looks, so i can say this is pretty amazing!

    Very good job.
