They are already very close to the ground, so it's not a hard impact, but they slide along the asphalt, but the leather suit protects them from any serious damage. Probably hurts like a bitch though!

it surprisingly doesn't. if you slide for far enough, whatever was touching the ground heats up, but if you're wearing the right gear even the gnarliest crashes amount to an awkward fall off a high bed. the g-force can get dizzying, though.

what he said, but if you bail into the hay it absorbs a lot of energy, and usually if a rider falls you'll see him go flat on the belly, it helps distribute the impact
