  • Shitty quality

  • this is robin guthrie playing bass and simon raymonde playing guitar, that's pretty chill, wonder why they decided to play this song this way

  • fantastic !! i remember watching this at the time.

  • amazing.I like the raw VHS-style footage and audio of this video. And this song gives me the chills every time.love it.

  • Thank you. i only wish to be a servant.

  • I was 6 years old when i listened to Treasure for the first time. With Lorelei , i felt like a little kid lost in the dark but feeling save with this female angel singing and guiding me into the most mystical and blissful place. Now i'm 26, and im still feeling exactly the same. This is the best song of the best band ever !

  • @ordnajelAoneuB I was a lot older than six but agree with you totally concerning your other comments. There will never be another band or singer like this!!

  • Love

  • MG, what is this... like 85?? raw but beautiful- thanx for the upload!

  • Great song, but very poor quality sound on the video. eek

  • @stephenp1968 : smile & say thank you that it's here & available at all-

  • Well, that's true, but if the sound's poor, it's poor, and there's nothing wrong with saying it-otherwise, why have a place for comments?

  • retard detected

  • @robertsmithisapussy

Whaa?? Sorry, kids, but these guys are an off-shoot of punk- that's right- PUNK! & by the way... Robert Smith originally started with Siouxsie & the Banshees - go back to school-

  • Robert Smith didnt ORIGINALLY start out with The Banshees. He took a break from The Cure to take a less frontal roll behind Sioux. He then got disorientated with The Banshees and returned to The Cure.

  • I LOVE COCTEAU TWINS!!!

  • Ahh, Liz Frazers "Freddy Parrot-face period..

  • stop it.

    LOL

  • Lorelie is one of my all time favorite Cocteau Twins songs! Her vocal stylings are geneius!

  • she's amazing, isn't she.

  • I have seen the Cocteau Twins live 5 times. The 2 best shows I saw were in Buffalo (of all places) and at the Roxy in NYC (one of their last live shows).

They are an acquired taste live because Liz will quite often veer away from the melody of a song to improvise a little. And the chances she took were often breathtaking and unique. There is no other singer I can think of that is as transcendent as Liz and how she carries a song.

They need to get back together soon, I miss them!

  • nice to see them onstage, but, boy, their real sound was so much better than this.. live or in the studio.. worth hunting for the cd... it's so good, it's moving.

  • Fully agree ! I have seen them twice in France years ago and still best thing I ever seen on a scene !

  • is this band doing shows in this time , please let me know , i will go wherever to see them , ....

  • What's so amazing is that they sound just as good as the studio recording. This is real talent right here, folks. While the kids of today's generation are stuck listening to 90% of the crap on the radio, true lovers will keep the classic music of Cocteau Twins alive.

  • THE Cocteaus were an amazing band, this is a poor quality video so try not to judge based on this- I think it's cause her

vocals were all layered on the records & I believe she did all her own background harmonies which is obviously not possible to do when it's just you onstage with no backup singers, she's still amazing though- check out the Treasure album or the Pink Opaque comp

  • like you can really judge based on youtube quality...

  • the video is pretty low quality for starters.

Even if the original mix was decent, you aren't hearing much of it since most of what you're hearing is gargle from the highs in the guitar (due to the video quality), and the vocals sound like they could be poorly captured. I love the studio version of this song. You should check it out and then see how you feel, just a recommendation.

  • Yeah I agree, the quality is shite

  • :D

A treat, despite the quality, thanks. It's minimalist live, and Liz can knock it out pretty sweet.

  • mate, if you wernt around back then just shut up and listen, theres hidden power in those phonetics

I still know it off "by heart"

  • I remember watching this on t.v as a kid and I could not believe my ears! I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard in my life and as I had taped it on video I watched it again and again until the tape snapped. Now I can re-live my childhood and play it over and over again but with the added bonus of no snapping tape! Hurrah.

  • Yeah yeah... the quality of the video is not well enough... BUT HERE WE CAN APPRECIATE THE PRODIGIOUSNESS OF LIZ VOICE, AND WHAT SHE IS CAPABLE TO DO, AND DO NOT FORGET THE AMAZING JOB OF ROBIN AND SIMON, THEY ARE GREAT CREATING THE GLOBAL SOUND EFFECTS.

  • not very good quality but what can i expect from a vid from 1983 or so? i'm glad you upped it anyway. sometimes i think i'm way too much into this band, especially for a black kid who was born in 88

  • U cant think too much off this band. pure 80s brilliance just awesome!!!

  • Good work! I wish there was more black (& white) kids who would listen to golden age pop music!
