actually TOR takes place only 300 years after the events in KOTOR. If you play as Jedi Knight they tell you the lore of Taris when you arrive and that 300 years ago Malak bombarded the planet trying to kill Revan.

@hulkmeister23 I think it has to do with the Jedi winning and purging, then getting lazy while the Sith gather strength. The Sith constantly battle one another so they remain tough, but in times of peace the Jedi just get complacent. As the saying goes, "You're only as good as your strongest enemy".

@mandalorian212 Eh, it's an MMORPG. They are gonna want to make sure this thing runs on as many games as possible. What we're seeing here are cinematics. The key to MMRPGS is setting them up so that they'll run on lower end machines, as well. Then you have to find a graphical style that is appealing despite not being cutting edge.. World of Warcraft managed to pull this off incredibly well. I hope this game can do it too!

All the lightsaber battles in the Old Republic trailers look better and more intense than the prequel movies (Darth Maul may be the only exception, with Ray Park being an actual martial artist).

There's no fancy choreography, no showing off, no little blaster-deflecting dances, no silly martial art-ish hand waving, no holding back...just raw aggression and blunt force. You can especially see this from the Sith.
