I was never real familiar with either of them as a wrestler, but I have watched them both fight some MMA, and I think Askren is much more exciting to watch. I think Askren would whoop dat ass in an MMA fight. In my opinion.
@HighHeadJim Are you saying that Oklahoma hosted it for the first time that year and that was the same year you think they were the first to beat team USA? I hope not. If so you need to look up who really started the tradition of high school (where we see more raw talent before college influences) champions taking on team USA. Pennsylvania has been doing that since the 70's and though they don't always win now that the country has caught up to them, they used to beat team USA frequently.

Askren attempted to wrestle state that year with a severly sprained ankle. He couldn't even stand on it. This match with hendricks is like 3 or 4 weeks later. There was a question whether he was going to wrestle or not. But great wrestlers always want to wrestle the best, injured or not, in this case I guess. I think even back then it would of been a different match, had Ben been 100 percent. I have no affiliation with Askren, but I just happened to know what was going on at the time.
You're idiot to say he would major or tech him. Plus, they're at different weights so there's no point...but, IF they were at the same weight....it would probably be pretty close.
hendricks' used his stand-up to beat charlie brenneman in his last fight, something askren has yet to do

this was for the USA vs Oklahoma dream team dual and they never met in the finals of the NCAA championship ther wer different weight classes
