well i got the laptop 5810TZ-4784 and love it to death. I found out the new Timeline X are out. i was upset they dont use CULV processors any more.... If i knew this was comming, i wouldve bought another 5810TZ, just incase my current one breaks hehe, since they are discontinued now.I like the 15.6' one because you still get 8 hours in power saving mode with wifi turned off. but mostly i can have a word document to type notes and a powerpoint opened up at the same time for my notes in class.
I'm getting the 14" (4810T). For me it's the best one.
Usually it's 750 Euro but it's on sale for just 400 (ssshh) so for a machine that great for a cheap price like that I don't think i'll find anything better
for a good Acer aspire time-line laptop its 650$ on circuit-city, it has 4 gigs of ram ddr3, Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, 15.6 Screen, 8 houses of battery, HDMI , and i ordered one it ships the same day you order it and it arrives 3-7 days later.
Mine Arrived Like A Week Ago And I'm Waiting For My Father To Ship It To Me.
and i got a question, Why Did Circuit City Run Out Of Busyness ?
I have a question. I am going to get a 15.6' time line and i can't decide if I should get the one with the Su4100 dual core or the Su3500 single core. I want this for school only (no gaming). So battery life is important. Comparing them both, is the battery life much a difference on energy saving mode? Also the funny thing is the SU3500 is $60 USD more than the Su4100. I research on the benchmark of the cpus. obviously the Su4100 score two times faster than the SU3500. Which one is a beter deal?
the duo core is gonna be more efficient and it also has more ram, which is good. I'm gonna get the duo core one and in my opinion, it will probably be more worth it
@ultimatman2000 I hope you bought the dual core, is highly recommended since battery still lasts 8 hours and with multicore processors you can multitask many tasks at school like listening MP3, editing a Powerpoint PPT, reading large PDF's, viewing the Flash content online material for your class, viewing your college's email in Outlook, solving a math problem using Matlab all at same time since you can expand it's 4GB memory to a total of 8GB
I just ordered the 14". I love it. I couldn't find a single laptop that had everything I wanted until I found this laptop. I'm so happy with it. Who says you need to give up optical drives in order to have light laptops? My only complaint about this laptop is the single toggle button for the mouse. I always preferred having two buttons instead. But that's not such a big deal since I'll probably use a external mouse anyway.
I personally love laptops thats slim, and nicely rectangular.
Not to much stupid curves and that kind of nonsense.
I find this timeline and the new ASUS UL series to be unbelievably gorgeous.
But the timelime could have done with some more fancy blue neon lights though like the HP. But hey its still most beautiful laptop I ever seen. I think the ASUS UL series may be the only thing thats sweeter than the Timeline. But the Asus is $300 USD more.
Why is it that the Acer timeline 14" and 13" models are more expensive than the 15.6 inch??????????
Which retard decided on that pricing?
We all know it costs more to make a bigger laptop. So how in god's name can a frecking 13" laptop with no dvd drive actually be more expensive than a 15.6 inch with everything you can think off???
well the truth is that 14" is better deal because the screen is big enough to work comfortable. What you get with 15" is extra numeric key pad which is useless and just makes the whole box bigger and heavier, and 1.6" more isn't any real advantage since 14" is already pretty big. So if both models were the same price i would definitely go for 14", it is an optimal choice. But since some god damn marketing person made 15.6" 100 bucks cheaper this drives me crazy too because i cant decide!!
Every 13.3in or 14.1in laptop is much higher priced than its 15.4in older brother for the same performance.
Only when you get to 17in does the price start to go up again to pay for the LCD.
Managing heat and smaller components make the price tag take a hit.
The actual standard is 15.4in as it enables the manufacturers to put adequate performance in enough space. The more performance you want in a smaller notebook, the more it costs. Take the MacBook Air for example.
Finally a good design from Acer compared to those other curved crap they taught looked good.
I am just disappointed that it is not 1280x800.
They are stealing the vertical resolution with this 16:9 crap when we all know computers should be reserved for vertical resolution.
Yes I want wide screen but not so damn wide that it steals vertical resolution to the point you are scrolling a billion times just to read a simple web page.
Stupid quastion, but i have to ask you AcerGuy. I have the acer aspire 5530 notebook with AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-60 1.9Ghz, 2Gb memory and ATI HD3200. It crossed my mind to sell this laptop, and buy the timeline 3810 with the SU3500 proccesor. I use my notebook for image procesing (photoshop cs2, corel draw, etc). Would it be a better choice the timeline 3810? i need a lighter, smaller machine, with good battery life. What about the difference beetween the two processors?

Of course maybe someone will post a video of it playing something resource-heavy without problems but until then, I still have my doubts...
Oh... Acer Guy could you help me please? The model available here in Mexico for the Timeline 14" is the 4810TZ-4013.... it hasn't the Core 2 Duo... instead it has an Intel Pentium SU2700 processor that runs at 1.3GHZ. So, in conclusion... which are your thoughts and opinion about speed and performance overall? Take into account that i'm a college student and sometimes i use software like flash, photoshop, and a heavy use of applications at the same time. I'm really interested in this notebook.
The ONLY thing about this laptop is the tradeoff for extreme efficiency. Acer has got energy-saving everywhere meaning it's not a tower of power. Read the answer below to JBravo69. Each Timeline series 3810, 4810 and 5810 come with more than one spec. Make sure you go for the higher spec (TG) models.
I'm thinking about getting a TG but with a solo su3500 core.... will it handle image editor softwares as CS4 and programming softwares like Visual Basics etc? Will it run smooth enough? Thankful for a reply!
Your gonna need an Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor SU9400 at least for what you have in mind. Also check out the TG models - with ATI switchable graphics.
hi acer guy, do u think the 13.3 inch model is strong enough to use an external blu-ray drive? for watching blu-ray films, im nt sure the requirements, if any, for using such drive, cheers, i wanna use the hdmi n plug it in to my tv, but also watch it on the laptop
Read the comment below. Timelines were built for HUGE battery life, at the expense of certain energy-consuming features. Graphics is top of that list (unless it's a TG model).
The Timeline series have integrated graphics cards which means they're fine for day-to-day stuff, but they're NOT powerhouses. If you are convinced by the Timeline series, try and get hold of the TG models. They have integrated AND discrete graphics engines with switchable graphics technology. This is where this technology is heading but right now, it's probably not what you're looking for.
I have one, and it works perfectly. But it depends what kind of work you want to do on it. Personnaly, i use it only for school or when i'm away 'cause I already have a killer PC. So yeah, it does the job pretty well.
It's called a Kensington Lock and has been installed on notebooks for the past five years or so at least. It's like a bike lock for your notebook so it doesn't get stolen in the office.
omg im like dying waiting for the TG models to come out. hmm. man acer really got a nice product but waiting still. anytime soon before Christmas comes around you think that theTG models will roll out?
really? wow how come it takes so long to get here in America. Man, America lacks so much in technology. argh. hopefully Acer believes that people in America want those models too. sigh.
Well, the TG models are only out in some countries in Europe like Germany and Belgium but not others like France. In my country (Belgium) all variants are now available: every combination of screen size, CPU and video card.
What's sad is that the models with the dual core CPU and Bluetooth are 200 EUR more expensive than the models with the single core CPU.
You kidding. America is way up on the priority list. Don't think of the TG models as a passing fad though. I've seen it on at least 6 models so far... Let me find out what Acer US has to say.
hi! I'm from Republic of Moldova and here I dind saw this amazing thing..can you tell me what is the price for the 15 inch monitor.....i saw on amazon is about $599 is that right??????
Each size exists with two different CPUs: Intel SU3500 or SU9400. It's basically the same CPU excepted that the second one has 2 cores and consumes 10W max while the first one only has 1 core and consumes 5.5W max. The SU3500 is roughly 50% to 100% faster than an Atom N270 CPU. All models use the Intel GS45 chipset. This chipset is able to decode H.264 video up to 1080p entirely in hardware. There is also an optional dedicated GPU on all models (TG variants) which is a Mobility Radeon 4330.
I'm thinking of getting the 13.3" one with a SU3500 inside. Before I do so, is there any difference in terms of performance between this and the SU2700?
Any word from Acer if they plan on releasing this with the Intel P8000 or P9000 cpu-series (with dedicated ATI)? Would make a nice competitor to the latest Macbook Pro's.
I work for Acer so you know my answer already... There's nothing quite like the Timeline series out there right now - remember it's all about squeezing as many hours as possible from the battery so it's one of if not *the* most efficient notebook out there. The Msi X is a netbook - very different. Also look out for the Timeline "TG" series - switchable graphics engine ;-)
Emm... never heard of it although in my experience that's no proof it doesn't exist... When you go down to 11 inches, you're looking at an Aspire One *netbook* so it doesn't make sense for Acer to cannibalize their own product selection... In theory the Timeline lable will make the leap to netbooks real soon but not yet. At least not as far as I know.
OK I stand corrected. It DOES exist but like I said it's more of a netbook than a notebook even if the name is a little confusing and it does away with the traditional Atom processor. Ho Hum...
is Acer planning to make new ones with Windows 7 when it comes out in October or are they making any different configurations than the ones we see now.
I wouldn't rule it out - although I personally haven't seen anything. What I'm almost certain you'll see is the Timeline series expanding. The technology's too good to limit to just three models.
Also switchable graphics (Timeline "TG" models) will appear. Best of both worlds??
Mobile Intel® GS45 Express Chipset with integrated 3D graphics, featuring Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with up to 1759 MB of Intel® Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 (64 MB of dedicated video memory, up to 1695 MB of shared system memory), supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 10
Dual independent display support
16.7 million colors
MPEG-2/DVD decoding
WMV9 (VC-1) and H.264 (AVC) decoding
HDMI™ with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) support
But you might want to check out the "TG" spec models (if/when they come out) if you're looking for better gaming / video performance:
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4330 with Switchable Graphics technology, up to 23048 MB of HyperMemory™ (512 MB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM, up to 1792 MB of shared system memory), supporting Unified Video Decoder (UVD), OpenEXR High Dynamic-Range (HDR) technology, Shader Model 4.1, MicrosoftR DirectXR 10.1
I bet in actual intensive use, such as watching movies, this thing won't last much longer than 4 hours. Under web browsing conditions it probably won't last much longer than 5 or 6 hours. I'm mosty speculating here but one of the reviews I read said that after you strip away the power saving software on the system, you would probably only be talking about 3 or 4 hours of battery life.
It also is not reported as running as cool or silent as Acer leads us to believes. Though, still not terrible.
I suggest you read PC Pro's review of the Timeline 4810T: "In our light use battery test, it ran for a staggering 8hrs 52mins - the equivalent of a full working day with a short commute on top. Even our intensive test, which pushes a system as hard as possible, ran for nearly three and a quarter hours before the battery was exhausted. This kind of battery life is extremely impressive on a laptop which is comfortable to use all day. It even beats Acer's claimed eight-hour mark by nearly an hour."
AcerGuy, note that it says "light use" battery test. I said in "intensive use" it will not run the advertised 8 hours. And if you look around, other reviews report varying battery longevity, including ones significantly lower than Acer's advertised. Also, PC Pro is only referring to one model in the Timeline series here. And you fail to address my other comments about heat and noise.
Really any longevity comes from the under performing CULV, integrated graphics, and power management software.
I don't think Acer has ever claimed you can watch a DVD for 8 hours straight. The point of the Timeline isn't to give you all-day super-performance, its goal is to stretch battery life further than anyone else under "normal" use so you can leave the charger at home. More than 8 hours is something no other notebook at this price level from other brands can claim, so who cares if they use ULV CPUs to get there?
I didn't answer the heat and noise questions because I haven't tested it (not my job).
I've had 15.6 inch for 3 days and I actually tested this the battery life. I set the settings so it would not go to sleep or hibernate. I unplugged the power at 100% battery life. I went to work and returned home after 7.5 hours. The battery still had 19% remaining! Pretty damn good if you ask me. I'm sure it would reduce when you actually do things on it rather than just leaving it alone. Also, the battery setting was on the "power saver" mode.
j0venico, battery life will vary depending on the type of tasks you are performing at any given time. 8 hours is likely to be the "under ideal conditions" ceiling of the Timeline's capabilities but almost always, in real life that will never be the case and battery life is likely going to fall below the advertised. Over time, power cells will lose their charge as well and then battery life is a crap shoot either way.
Nope. Doesn't say atom it says: 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU2700 Processor which is a CULV Intel processor. Which is meant for slim and light machines, this is not a netbook. Not sure about Centrino now though (been doing some research lol).
not really the problem really is that it has Intel Core 2 Solo, we got one at work and i should point out that our engineer managed to make dent on it because the aluminium body is extremly soft... on hard push and you screwd
damn well that sucks ass, man, it sucks more than that time the brits bought the island of manhattan from the indians for a bag of patato chips or whatever in the bloody hell (@_@) i mean it may have a soft surface and coating, but id say above all that its a petty good laptop. according to the ratings from cnet and stuff.
hey acer guy, how u doin? i got my acer timeline 14.1 " yesterday and i loveeeee it. thanks for a good over view and makin up my mind... more power and godbless!!
Doubt it'll run as smoothly as you'd like - that stuff is mean!! Timeline isn't a gaming notebook. It's a get-me-through-the-entire-day-without-worrying-about-battery-life notebook. That means it's going to have integrated graphics...
Could you tell us something about noise and heating of 4810t? I'm interested in your opinion especially regarding noise emission, because I really need a quiet machine (almost silent) and I heard some good reviews about this one.
I've had the 15.6 inch for 3 days. The fan is almost always on but the only time I can hear it is when I actually put my ear close to it. The bottom never gets hot even when I've had it on for hours. It's amazing
My biggest concern with it is the performance - of course it's not going to match a quadcore laptop in terms of doing anything, but does it have a reasonable performance standard? Cheers
Only thing that differs from normal laptops is the CPU, for which you get a choice between 2 ULV chips - Core 2 Solo (SU3500) or Core 2 Duo (SU9400) both @1.4GHz with 800MHz FSB and 3MB L2 cache.
So performance will be slightly lower in CPU-intensive apps, but not noticeably different while doing everyday stuff.
Hi TheAcerGuy, could I ask you how the body of the notebook feels and what it's made of? Is it properly engineered (maybe w/ aluminum parts?) or is it more a cheap plastics? Thanks.
Well there's no point pretending it's something else. The body is plastic (it's a $700-ish PC after all) but the quality is far better than in the past. I use a Rode directional mic and you can't hear any creaking when I lift the 13" one but then it didn't have a DVD player... The keyboard is a "floating" one and looks amazing. All in all it's very well put together.
OK, thank you for the info. This is basically what I needed to hear, that the quality is (in your opinion) better than it was.
I had an Aspire1350 before and I was not very satisfied with the quality of the plastic parts - they broke after a year+-. But I guess will give it one more shot - this notebook looks awesome...
Hopefully, the quality of plastic parts is something that Acer must have already identified as a problem of their products and they focused on fixing this (at least a little).
Grazie Acerguy per questo ottimo video!! peccato tu non ce l'abbia acceso... vabbè, sarà per la prossima!! :-) a proposito, sapresti dirci la data di uscita nei negozi italiani? grazie ancora...
Overall, I would probably want this over a MacBook Air. But that does not say as much for the Timeline series so much as it speaks to how the air is an impractical piece of affluent hipster trash.

Well finally the 14" has reached the same price as the 15.6 inch. On Amazon its only $9 more so I say same price.
Not sure about smaller costs more but I guess since so many 14" are appearing now they are becoming mass produced and hence the price drop.
But I am trying to decide between the 14" for $500 and the $11.6 inch with core 2 duo SU 2300 for $400 US
But I hate the 11.6 inch timeline, they are ugly compared to the 13 to 15 inch.

can they take video editing well? Please reply
jpscar94 2 years ago
Absolutly not. It's a great 2nd computer or if you want to do simple thing such as internet, email etc...
Gen035 2 years ago
The Timeline series have integrated graphics cards which means they're fine for day-to-day stuff, but they're NOT powerhouses. If you are convinced by the Timeline series, try and get hold of the TG models. They have integrated AND discrete graphics engines with switchable graphics technology. This is where this technology is heading but right now, it's probably not what you're looking for.

I Want to buy one, 13.3, with Pentium SU2700, so , i wanna know if Windows Vista runs well with this processor + 4 gb ddr3
castor1994 2 years ago
I have one, and it works perfectly. But it depends what kind of work you want to do on it. Personnaly, i use it only for school or when i'm away 'cause I already have a killer PC. So yeah, it does the job pretty well.

I wish... It's another way of saying: "The Boss". :-D
TheAcerGuy 2 years ago
i noticed that the battery is identical in all the models. 62.16 W 5600 mAh 6-cell
so considering this, if i take the 13.3" model
i am expected to get the best battery life.
since the other ones has a bigger screen.
i think this combined with ssd drive
and win7 will be sweet and may even set battery life to it's proclaimed 8hrs mark.
the problem is that these battries are getting weaker with each charge so months later you'd still have to run with the adapter

what is the lock for?
turnermic17 2 years ago
It's called a Kensington Lock and has been installed on notebooks for the past five years or so at least. It's like a bike lock for your notebook so it doesn't get stolen in the office.

omg im like dying waiting for the TG models to come out. hmm. man acer really got a nice product but waiting still. anytime soon before Christmas comes around you think that theTG models will roll out?
crazy4music 2 years ago
TG models are already out, at least in Europe.
digitaliabe 2 years ago
really? wow how come it takes so long to get here in America. Man, America lacks so much in technology. argh. hopefully Acer believes that people in America want those models too. sigh.
crazy4music 2 years ago
Well, the TG models are only out in some countries in Europe like Germany and Belgium but not others like France. In my country (Belgium) all variants are now available: every combination of screen size, CPU and video card.
What's sad is that the models with the dual core CPU and Bluetooth are 200 EUR more expensive than the models with the single core CPU.
digitaliabe 2 years ago
You kidding. America is way up on the priority list. Don't think of the TG models as a passing fad though. I've seen it on at least 6 models so far... Let me find out what Acer US has to say.

whats the speed of the 13 inch model and what chip does it use?
TitanicApplefanfilms 2 years ago
Each size exists with two different CPUs: Intel SU3500 or SU9400. It's basically the same CPU excepted that the second one has 2 cores and consumes 10W max while the first one only has 1 core and consumes 5.5W max. The SU3500 is roughly 50% to 100% faster than an Atom N270 CPU. All models use the Intel GS45 chipset. This chipset is able to decode H.264 video up to 1080p entirely in hardware. There is also an optional dedicated GPU on all models (TG variants) which is a Mobility Radeon 4330.
digitaliabe 2 years ago
I'm thinking of getting the 13.3" one with a SU3500 inside. Before I do so, is there any difference in terms of performance between this and the SU2700?
r31ncarnat3d 2 years ago
Any word from Acer if they plan on releasing this with the Intel P8000 or P9000 cpu-series (with dedicated ATI)? Would make a nice competitor to the latest Macbook Pro's.
hishadow 2 years ago
just one thing.... would u recommend this more then the Msi X series??? thanks again
Geop24 2 years ago
I work for Acer so you know my answer already... There's nothing quite like the Timeline series out there right now - remember it's all about squeezing as many hours as possible from the battery so it's one of if not *the* most efficient notebook out there. The Msi X is a netbook - very different. Also look out for the Timeline "TG" series - switchable graphics engine ;-)

what about the 1810T 11"?
Solacetech 2 years ago
Emm... never heard of it although in my experience that's no proof it doesn't exist... When you go down to 11 inches, you're looking at an Aspire One *netbook* so it doesn't make sense for Acer to cannibalize their own product selection... In theory the Timeline lable will make the leap to netbooks real soon but not yet. At least not as far as I know.
TheAcerGuy 2 years ago
OK I stand corrected. It DOES exist but like I said it's more of a netbook than a notebook even if the name is a little confusing and it does away with the traditional Atom processor. Ho Hum...

@ Geop24
The marketing people from Acer UK say you can buy it at: PC World, Currys, and John Lewis.
Hope that helps.

thanks for the information. ill keep a look out if the new models will come out. in the meantime, ima wait till windows 7 starts rolling out.
crazy4music 2 years ago
is Acer planning to make new ones with Windows 7 when it comes out in October or are they making any different configurations than the ones we see now.
crazy4music 2 years ago
I wouldn't rule it out - although I personally haven't seen anything. What I'm almost certain you'll see is the Timeline series expanding. The technology's too good to limit to just three models.
Also switchable graphics (Timeline "TG" models) will appear. Best of both worlds??

jibster94 2 years ago
I bet in actual intensive use, such as watching movies, this thing won't last much longer than 4 hours. Under web browsing conditions it probably won't last much longer than 5 or 6 hours. I'm mosty speculating here but one of the reviews I read said that after you strip away the power saving software on the system, you would probably only be talking about 3 or 4 hours of battery life.
It also is not reported as running as cool or silent as Acer leads us to believes. Though, still not terrible.
buzongtang 2 years ago
I suggest you read PC Pro's review of the Timeline 4810T: "In our light use battery test, it ran for a staggering 8hrs 52mins - the equivalent of a full working day with a short commute on top. Even our intensive test, which pushes a system as hard as possible, ran for nearly three and a quarter hours before the battery was exhausted. This kind of battery life is extremely impressive on a laptop which is comfortable to use all day. It even beats Acer's claimed eight-hour mark by nearly an hour."
TheAcerGuy 2 years ago
AcerGuy, note that it says "light use" battery test. I said in "intensive use" it will not run the advertised 8 hours. And if you look around, other reviews report varying battery longevity, including ones significantly lower than Acer's advertised. Also, PC Pro is only referring to one model in the Timeline series here. And you fail to address my other comments about heat and noise.
Really any longevity comes from the under performing CULV, integrated graphics, and power management software.
buzongtang 2 years ago
I don't think Acer has ever claimed you can watch a DVD for 8 hours straight. The point of the Timeline isn't to give you all-day super-performance, its goal is to stretch battery life further than anyone else under "normal" use so you can leave the charger at home. More than 8 hours is something no other notebook at this price level from other brands can claim, so who cares if they use ULV CPUs to get there?
I didn't answer the heat and noise questions because I haven't tested it (not my job).
TheAcerGuy 2 years ago
Does it really give you up to 8hrs of Battery life?
Like everyday usage?
j0vencio 2 years ago
I've had 15.6 inch for 3 days and I actually tested this the battery life. I set the settings so it would not go to sleep or hibernate. I unplugged the power at 100% battery life. I went to work and returned home after 7.5 hours. The battery still had 19% remaining! Pretty damn good if you ask me. I'm sure it would reduce when you actually do things on it rather than just leaving it alone. Also, the battery setting was on the "power saver" mode.
riceanony 2 years ago
j0venico, battery life will vary depending on the type of tasks you are performing at any given time. 8 hours is likely to be the "under ideal conditions" ceiling of the Timeline's capabilities but almost always, in real life that will never be the case and battery life is likely going to fall below the advertised. Over time, power cells will lose their charge as well and then battery life is a crap shoot either way.
buzongtang 2 years ago
On the amazon website the tinline serious doesn't say the CPU is centrino2!!! is that a mistake or they are not real models?
ahmadibaybay 2 years ago
I believe the "tinline serious" as you put it is with the Centrino 2, but of a lower make. Mainly for battery life saving.
idslite 2 years ago
wait so it is cebtrino 2 but its not? that doesn not make sense ... it clearly says 1.3 atom on amazon
ahmadibaybay 2 years ago
Nope. Doesn't say atom it says: 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU2700 Processor which is a CULV Intel processor. Which is meant for slim and light machines, this is not a netbook. Not sure about Centrino now though (been doing some research lol).
idslite 2 years ago
even though, its not a gaming notebook, im sure you can play call of duty 4 on this right?

Doubt it'll run as smoothly as you'd like - that stuff is mean!! Timeline isn't a gaming notebook. It's a get-me-through-the-entire-day-without-worrying-about-battery-life notebook. That means it's going to have integrated graphics...

I've had the 15.6 inch for 3 days. The fan is almost always on but the only time I can hear it is when I actually put my ear close to it. The bottom never gets hot even when I've had it on for hours. It's amazing

Hi TheAcerGuy, may I ask you, the model as4810t has only one core"su3500" processor, or can I buy model as4810t with su9400? thanks
miso55216 2 years ago
Hi the AcerGuy,
My biggest concern with it is the performance - of course it's not going to match a quadcore laptop in terms of doing anything, but does it have a reasonable performance standard? Cheers
thinline72 2 years ago
You get all the usual parts you'd expect in a modern laptop, not designed for gaming.
3-4 gigs of DDRIII, 320-500GB HDD, GMA4500 integrated GPU, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n

I'm thinking of buying the 13.3" model. Could you tell me when these models are going to be released in the uk and at what price? thanks
stupiddog55 2 years ago
Hi TheAcerGuy, could I ask you how the body of the notebook feels and what it's made of? Is it properly engineered (maybe w/ aluminum parts?) or is it more a cheap plastics? Thanks.
joshis4video 2 years ago
Well there's no point pretending it's something else. The body is plastic (it's a $700-ish PC after all) but the quality is far better than in the past. I use a Rode directional mic and you can't hear any creaking when I lift the 13" one but then it didn't have a DVD player... The keyboard is a "floating" one and looks amazing. All in all it's very well put together.
TheAcerGuy 2 years ago
OK, thank you for the info. This is basically what I needed to hear, that the quality is (in your opinion) better than it was.
I had an Aspire1350 before and I was not very satisfied with the quality of the plastic parts - they broke after a year+-. But I guess will give it one more shot - this notebook looks awesome...
Hopefully, the quality of plastic parts is something that Acer must have already identified as a problem of their products and they focused on fixing this (at least a little).
