found deerhound lurcher x in work not my kind of dog steals food off table wont get off sofa licks your face when your trying to sleep wouldnt swap him for anything!
Hi. We lost our 'girl' paddy on friday who's a Deerhound/Greyhound lurcher. She had a brother who was called Lurch and was born 3rd october and would have been 13 this year.. How old is Lurch? is he an old dog? Originally born in newbury, Berkshire by Karen Ruckley (my wife's ex sister in law)
We got our girl Lurcher "Pru" December 2008, just to let you guys at TIA know we re named her Sue shortly after as it sounded similar enough to pru but not as daft sounding. She now lives a life of luxury, her coat is now far more full and nice and black and glossy. She has gotten on with our 12 year old boy collie/jack russel mut just fine and they love going to the park together and roaming free at night. She does have a hunting habit and has caught various critters. But Its no problem. Cheers
IV posted a vid response,to show how much fun you can have with a lurcher,he s a hancock collie x greyhound,i hope you find good homes for all these lovely dogs. You all do a fantastic job .
Do you know what happened with the dog called Tia on this video? Because she is the spitting image of my gorgeous, pretty, beautiful, cute, black and white, 7 year old Greyhound x Border Collie. We bought her from the RSPCA in york. Nice video!
All I know about the dogs is what you see through the photos, they all look so happy :) The owners were nice enough to send the rescue the photos to let them know how the dogs were doing.
I got my greyhound (Pilot) from Tia but went to a show earlier this year at another adoption site, they saw him and immiedietely knew who he was. Apparently he'd stayed at that rescue before! I think the only way to find out is to ask around the local centres. Even some none local or website forums!
Tia is a great organisation. Dog's Trust & RSPCA are closer for me and still have lots of these lovely dogs just waiting for homes. They despite being big dogs are so compact when curled up they don't get in the way (except when its thier dinner time). Many times we think were are the dogs and the're all curled up in all sorts of places usually by your feet but you ask yourselves 'When did they move there' So quiet and laid back!
p.s also i would like to say my father and brother used to race greyhounds from me being young but they never give them away we always kept them for life as the last 1 we had before we got jed was 16 years old when we had to have him put to sleep so not all people who race greyhounds are bad [but them that are bad seem to outweigh the good ones]
we adopted a greyhound from tia 3 years ago a brindle we called him jed but in his past life at tia he was called gerald he was a lovley dog but sadly we had to have him put to sleep on the 14th november has he was diagnoised
with bone cancer and it had already spread so with a sad heart we had him put to sleep but we are missing him so much that we are going back to tia to get another a.s.a.p
When God designed the greyhound he excelled himself. These dogs went to Tia, they were lucky. The majority are not lucky. This gentle, loving and genuine animal is kept until he runs his last race and then becomes surplus to requirement. Ignore the platitudes that the greyhound industry comes up with, they cannot all be mathematically illiterate. Greyhounds born minus Greyhounds living out their natural life span gives an answer which shames the sport. The greyhound deserves so much more.
My family has just adopted a Greyhound from Tia and she is utterly gorgeous in every respect. I urge every dog lover and animal lover out there to support Tia and all other Greyhound rscue centres throughout the country. These beautiful creatures are so so underrated, they make superb pets, are great with kids and other dogs, are quiet and so so gentle and loving. I am very tempted to go right back to Tia and adopt another right now, I suggest you do the same!
What a wonderful advertisement for greyhounds. It was lovely to see our beautiful greyhounds on the video, Tia and Malckie. Greyhounds make beautiful pets, they are funny, gentle and make a great family pet, so go on adopt one or two or three today!! Tia Rescue are brilliant go and visit their site, loads of dogs need a good home. Our lives are so much richer for having them.

Lovely dogs...how any scum can treat these badly is beyond me.
Lock me in a room for a hour with those who like to mistreat animals...preferably with various electrical tools & implements...
Keep up the good work Tia & I hope 'Buddy' is doing fine!! ;o)
