I'm a fellow Texan who is learning to paint in watercolor. I would like to know...what brand watercolor do you use? I found this Winsor and Newton paint set at Hobby Lobby that came in little squares in a tin box similar to yours. Do you think this would be good or would you suggest something else? I really enjoy looking at your blog and painting videos! Keep up the good work :)
cyberkitty - in my tutorial, i mix on the paper itself. you can make swatches on a scrap piece of watercolor paper to see how the colors blend together. You want to make is so that when you step back, the colors make the right general color, but when you step in, you see the pigments that make up that color. Of course, you don't have to do it like I do :) A lot of the old masters, did not do temperature changes but rather only value changes, it's more of an impressionism thing.
Hey there Tiffany, I just recently started to paint in watercolor, its a little bit difficult since I've just painted on oils and digitaly, but I wanted to know something, Its true its very important to change to temperatures but I have tried and it just doesn't look right...how am I able to get the right color? since I cannot mix it up like the oil panting?
@cyberkitty172639 u can mix them ... if you want lighter colour you can add more water , in water colour theres like so much colours you can get by mixing i was amazed when i tried o_o
Thank you for this wonderful two part watercolor tutorial! I watched and painted along with you. Twenty minutes later I had one of the best watercolor paintings I'd ever done.
I'm looking forward to (and hoping you will make) future tutorials. :-)
