  • Albatross!

  • Allow me to introduce myself. I must ask that nobody leaves this page. Allow me to introduce myself

  • We are playing this in symphonic band and the part at 1:41 , our band director told us to think about it like a musical fight. Like the low brass are yelling, "DONT SPEND ALL MY MOOOONNEEYYY!" and the higher instruments are like, " Ill spend if I want." We all died laughing when he told us that :)

  • @begs54 Amen to that. Stirring stuff.

  • Is it weird that I get the urge silly walk to this tune??

  • after this i will go back to my castle AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

  • the monty python version is way better

  • Ah...Monty Python!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And now for something, completely different.

  • @hotelmario510 a man with a tape recorder up his nose

  • no wonder why USarmy is so weak! have ever listen Bulgarian military march?

  • Before monty python and "and Now The Liberty Bell March by John Philip Sousa" now "and Now The Liberty Bell March by John Philip Sousa" somewhere in the crowd someone goes "NI"

  • Thumbs up if you came here because you heard it in Monty Python and then saw it in Sherlock

  • @TheSamAndrewEvans I came here because we play this in our high school band

  • Anyone else blow a raspberry at 1:07, to finish the song properly?

  • @CaptainAndyman AHAHAHAHA

  • IT'SSSSSS... monty python's flying circus...

  • Sherlock's mind palace.

  • There's no bell! They left out the most important instrument in the score! Travesty!

  • God, it's impossible to hear this and not think of Monty Python. I will never, ever be able to take this song seriously.

  • 2 people say "NU!"

  • So where is Michael Ellis?

  • It's a man's life, listening to John Philip Sousa on YouTube...

  • Fun festival song :)

  • Oh yes, most fun song to play at festival.

  • Two dislikes? I like this, and I'm a lumberjack! (Oh come on, I'm OK!)

  • "The Liberty Bell March"...that's a nice, woody sort of sound...

  • also find ich toll hihi

  • Albatross! Albatross!

  • @therealjoebloggs With GREAT BIG LOOONNNNNG WINGS!

  • Such a boost! I enjoyed it so much :-)

  • My only problem with this is that it promotes patriotism..

  • @crisisofconsciousnes whats wrong with that?

  • Okay people, if this was not the opening to Monty Python's Flying Circus, it would be just another Sousa march, right? But still a damn good march....

  • *fart noise*

  • It's...Monty Python's Flying Circus!

  • @sundragonra412: ...Cus...cus...ss...ss..s...

  • This Reminds Me Of The "Hogs Of War" Playstation 1 Game. Wicked

  • @MatthewCooper1000 He he, you my boy are doing a maaaaans joooob

  • I keep expecting to hear a raspberry, so I took the liberty of providing my own---

The rest of this post was deemed as FAR TOO SILLY by the Youtube management.

  • Wether Benny Hill is funner than Monty Python is debatable, by our bro JPS know Monty Python had better music

  • And now: IT'S...

  • MONTY PYTHON!

  • And now for something completely different.

  • @hotelmario510 Almost one million postiongs at google.com now say "benny hill considered funnier than Monty Python"!

  • @Bestmanme08 :O

  • There are now nearly one million google postings talking of Benny Hill being funnier than Monty Python!

  • Google "Benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python"--- there are hundreds of thousands of postings by that title!

  • @Bestmanme08 Why do you keep posting this, some people may consider him funnier than Monty Python and they arent wrong. Then again neither are the far larger number of people (myself included) who consider Monty Python funnier than Benny Hill, though Benny Hill is funny.

  • @mynameisleeyesitis Hill was considered to be the funniest man in the UK in the early 1980's (source: Benny Hill's bio in Current Biography 1983)!

  • @Bestmanme08 maybe for a very short time he was, but monty python was funnier though. Monty Python could not have been considered a better comedian because they were more than 1 comedian.

The vast majority of people today and probably then as well considered monty python funnier.

  • @Bestmanme08 Though to be fair I also prefer The Goon Show and Hancock's Half Hour funnier than Benny Hill too.

  • Does anyone else think John Phillip Sousa looks like Jamie from Mythbusters?

  • @JordanAP96 More hair, but, OK, close enough. Somehow I don't see JPS wearing a beret, though.

  • If the tempo is kept forward and brisk, it sounds really good. If the percussion doesn't do a good job of keeping the beat, the tempo drags and it's torture.

  • THIS YOUTUBE PAGE IS GETTING FAR TOO SILLY!!! Nobody enjoys a good trolling more than I do, except maybe my wife, and some of her friends and let's not forget captain Johnston. Actually come to think of it most people enjoy a good trolling more than I do but that's beside the point.

  • @bluesboy25000

    good one

  • "STOP GAWPING, LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE 'AND OF GOD BEFORE!"

  • IT'S ---

  • Monty Pythons Flying Circus brought me here

  • "How to defend yourself against anyone armed with a piece of fresh fruit!"

  • Love the brass section of this march.

  • I have the sudden feeling to buy a parrot...

  • @Joe007ofrockk (in a british voice) but that parrot is dead.... its deceased... a Stiff its is gone to meet its maker....

  • @doom2sgt .... bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed it to the perch it would be pushing up daisies!! Its off the twig, its shuffled of its mortal coil, its climbed down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible........... 'ees fuckin' snuffed it!!!!

Oh, if only John Philip Sousa had realised what this march would end up being best remembered for!!

  • Thanks for the upload, but what did you do with the fart sound at the end?!

  • I'm playing this in symphonic band!

  • F#ck'im if he can't take a joke!

  • IT'S...

  • @TheTinTrooper Monty Python's Flying Circussss

  • Albatross! Albatross!

  • 2 people think the battle of Trafalgar was fought near Cudsworth (obviously because Drake was too clever for the German fleet)

  • @mistofigo No one expected the Spanish Inquisition too! *guffaw*

  • This song is fun to play but ANNOYING to learn at 120. Has a tricky rythym that's unique to the song. Sax = no problem. Trombone = my wrist hurts playing it a few times haha.

  • @ExternalGod Oh great, I have to play this for my high school. and i play trombone

  • @swimboi95 @ExternalGod Same here! I play 1st trombone :/

  • ITSSSS

  • I expected a fart at 0:52...

  • Giant foot and raspberry please (on the old guy in the funny hat).

  • IT'S!... -this song plays-

  • STOP THAT! THAT'S SILLY!

  • Comment removed

  • And now for something completely different...

  • Dinsdale!

  • Oh shit, i have to play this for an orchestra camp!

  • This was played in full for the four minutes preceding Bill Clinton first taking the oath of office at his inauguratrion on Wednesday 20th January 1993 -I remember feeling spellbound with joy and hope at this moment (I'm a 40 year old whose hobby is UK and US politics) So this piece reminds me personally of an extremely happy, hopeful moment!

  • @patrick180271 That guys sure had a twisted sense of humor, bwahaha.

  • It's.... It's.... It's....

  • And we shall defeat the enemy and smite them to the ground for our walks are much sillier than theirs!

  • Monty Python's Flying Circus!!!

  • Do you happen to know who performed and conducted this version, and in what year?

  • Actually, there's supposed to be a bell sounding at the beginning, but it's omitted...

  • wheres the fart?

  • 0:52 Where is the squish?!?!?

  • That's just silly! Stop it!

  • Benny hill considered funnier than Monty Python!

  • Where's the big "SPLAT" at 0'51?

  • Spam spam egg sausage and spam, spam spam spam haggis egg spam sausage and spam, spam spam spam egg sausage penguin and spam, spam egg sausage and spam -- that doesn't have too much spam in it

or lobster bisque with a mornay sauce, potato gratin truffels and spam --- And for something completely different -- spam Monty Python's Circus & spam with mixed grill

  • @eleni1968 I balk at your gaffe, good sir; every Monty Python fan knows by heart that it is lobster thermidor aux crevettes in a Mornay sauce garnished with truffle pâté, brandy, and a fried egg on top and spam.

  • 2 people don't like spam

  • Benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python by two tv stations!

  • @Bestmanme08 Those two TV stations are talking crap.

  • if only John knew :)

  • 2 communists on this page...

  • I LOVE this march, but I keep waiting for the photo of J.P Sousa to explode or stick out his tongue or something.

  • And now for something completely different. A man with three buttocks.

  • IT'S.....

  • Brought to you by the Ministry of Silly Walks.....

  • Would you be so kind as to say who is playing this version of Liberty Bell, or which CD it is on? It's simply ripping!

  • Would you be so kind as to say who is playing this version of Liberty Bell, or which CD it is on? It's simply ripping!

  • The penguin on your telly will now explode

  • Hogs Of WAR !!!!!!!!

  • We're playing this in our next band concert. My life is complete.

  • John Philip Sousa, if only you knew how popular this march was really going to get...

  • Monty Pithon's Flying Cir-cuss

  • he kinda looks like paul giamatti

  • So THAT'S what Sousa looks like. He looks like a Colonel or something like that. He'd make a good officer.

  • I splattered my monitor with saliva making the fart sound.

  • @franzboyet your comment made me laugh too much.

  • All it needs is at the end is loud fart sound..John Philip Sousa wasnt keen though.

  • Comment removed

  • "Montee Poython's Floying Circusss!"

  • My grandmother (rip) told me that she saw him conducting a marching band when she was a little girl.

  • And now for something completely great!

  • SHUT YOUR FESTERING GOB YOU TIT!!! YOUR TYPE MAKES ME PUKE!! YOU VACUOUS, TOFFEE-NOSED MALORDEROUS PERVERT!!!

  • @frankydman what was that for

  • @laketrilaketri

Clearly, you have never seen The "Argument Clinic" sketch, otherwise you would recognize this reference

  • I like this. But a good news, the evil Bid Laden is dead!

  • FijiUnited: I don't think John Philip wouldn't have minded his march being used for this purpose - if it meant more royalties for him!

  • Poor John Philip Sousa I bet he never imagined that 90% of listeners would only hear 30 seconds of his masterpiece before it was interrupted by a Giant Foot and a Fart sound.

  • 1:08

    FART!!!!

  • 0:52

    FART!!!!!!

  • I love this haha.

  • 0:51

    "pfffffffftttt"

  • This is actually a cavalry march - the 6/8 "bouncy" feel was intended for parading horses.

  • Played this is marching band, a little challenging but a really cool tenor sax part to march to

  • ah monty python...great

  • im still searching for the liberty bell OVERTURE and just find the march hmmm

  • our concert band plays it a little bit faster at the beginning at the dog fight(measure 71)

  • i am a percussionist and this is a great piece! the only thing im wondering is on our music there is a chime part playing the roll of the liberty bell i did not hear it in the recording!

  • should have ended with a giant foot squashing the image....

  • I just got this piece today in band, while I had been out sick the rest of the band had received it, I have only played it once so far, but I loved it, the arrangement we are using has a pretty easy Tenor Sax part though....

  • playing this in band

  • this is one of the pieces my school's orchestra is playing for our muticultural gala this year...i think its an ok...its a fun piece to play

  • 2 people are communist pigs.

  • @ajeezy53 They might just also be French. :-)

  • Mmm...makes me want to make cornbread pudding. Blindfolded. See Good Eats episode "Romancing the Bird" here on YouTube---it's at 1:59 of part 4 on LikeTheHat's upload.

  • Shouldn't there be a whoopee cushion at :51?

  • Sousa forgot to open with the nude organist

  • Why does this remind me of a psx game Hogs of war

  • Comment removed

  • i didnt elect hem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lindo Dobrado.

  • All I can see now is the foot coming down and the "raspberry" with it.

  • Monty Python's writers used this tune because it was in the public domain.

  • @spencnaz Additionally, they said in their autobiography, "It couldn't be in any way connected to the content."

  • Ah yes, one of Sousa's tender love ballads. Lol.

  • Lemon Curry

  • With a melon?

  • ugh were playing this song in concert band

  • @MickeyShapedCupcakes don't hate python

  • @Romagatyr Yeah people bitched in Wind today when we sight read this...personally my inner nerd died of joy...and I will make the quack/raspberry noise during the concert if we end up doing it...

  • @MickeyShapedCupcakes we played this last year, and it was okay, but a student teacher DESTROYED it by having us play it so much. Just make sure your tuning's great (unlike the band in this video lol)

  • IT'S!

  • Face it. No one will ever be able to take this song seriously again. Ever. Just listening to it makes me laugh.

  • @aquagrl63 - I heard that when MP first came on British TV, this was the "changing of the guard" music at Buckingham Palace. But when people started laughing so much as it was played, they changed the music!

  • @aquagrl63 i always remember the title sequence animation of their first season when i listen to this.

  • Lindo dobrado !!

  • I think of multiple different movie and shows when I hear this.

  • -Drop your panties sir william, i cannot wait till lunchtime...

  • thumbs up if this reminds you of monty python

  • how to identify different types of trees from far away places and the funniest joke in the world (which has been banned from use in wars)
