being a die hard raider fan i obviously hate the chiefs. but i have to admit that okoye was one hell of a running back. every time they handed the ball to him i was always afraid that he was gonna break for a huge gain.
IMO the reason Atwater was able to do that is that most guys like Okoye who start playing football later in life don't fully learn how to give instead of take hits.
LOL, atwater had one good hit on a candyass like Okoye and he's the shit........why dont we play some highlights of BO punkin on Atwater's ass! How about the 63 yarder Bo had on Denver when he was one on one with atwater IN THE HOLE, and bo threw him off like he wasnt even there! LOL
football is like boxing, anyone who says they have never been rocked or hurt is a liar. Yes, Atwater flatbacked Okoye, it happens. Football is a contact sport. Sometimes the running back runs over the linebacker, and sometimes the linebacker runs over the back.
the song is called wanna be a baller by lil troy .....and stop braggin' about atwater, occasionally a blind squirrel finds a nut...it's Kansas City all day all night....Denver Donkeys SUUUUUUUCK!
yea ur right lets b honest the man had 370 carries in one season he was the damnoffense if a number one runnning back now a days gets over 300 carries theyre pretty much done steve atwater was great idk y ud bring him he was a safety
It does mean something. Atwater was a rookie and put a dominant RB on his back. Okoye never took a big hit until Atwater smacked him. Okoye was used to running people over, but he got ran over. After that hit, Okoye was a different RB, IMO.
Everyone seems to have forgotten the 2 greatest words known in professional football....... UH YEAH ........BARRY SANDERS!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all I got to say.....Argument .....OVER!!!!
Okoye's pads made him look HELLA bigger than he actually was. Don't get me wrong, dude was big, but look at his pads, come on, how can you not notice that?
i think am gonna be the next nigerian nightmare,cus my first american football game. i had 3 sacks.2 stops..5 tackles,second game 2 sacks,1 stop,7 tackles..as a midgets in canada
Okoye was a beast. Atwater got him, but even he hurt for days after. Seriously, Okoye was a stud in TSB, and in real life, him and Barry's the Word were a lethal 1-2 punch for KC
i was the biggest okoye fan!!! I have every piece of memorabilia he had. every card. gold, signed, everything. I met him and he refused to sign anything for me after seeing my collection... He was a complete asshole. It sucked but i still got all his shit
well i just met him earlier today and he seemed pretty cool. he signed 4 different pictures and let me take a picture with him. anyways hes the best running back ever to play in his day
man he looks like a linebaccer who was put on the wrong part of the field lol. No joke thought he was a tru beast, id like to see some of todays linebackers and db's go against him.
lmao search atwater hit on okoye lmao.. like a barely 200 pound free safety knocks this "mightmare" on his ass. back in 1990 on monday night football. lol he couldn't run shit over!!
yeah, the atwater hit is pretty famous, lol it just shows though how scared they were of him. On the hit the hole is wide open, all you have is tyhe safety and him lol. Though to take nothing away from him he was exceptional, that was only one hit. Its still a really gud hit
how can you people say barry word and william green are better? for what he was at his weight he was the best. you find me a running back over 260 and faster then okoye and compare them
I obviously know he was not and is not the best ever...but I love the man. He's been my favorite player since I was 12. This is meant to be more to spark conversation about the man than anything else. I'm a realistic person...who just happens to think he's awesome:)
Yes, Okoye was a beast and I'll never forget when Atwater hit him when he was going up the middle, and dropped him... That was a clash of titans for real... BUT Okoye was not close to the best running back of all time.Yes, he was powerful, more of a fullback though.
@hmfmi he was very good even lead the league in rushing 1 year what is so amazing is that he played soccer was a discus thrower andhold the record in Nigeria and turned down going to the Olympics . Never heard of football. He was a raw talent that learned the game very late most poeple that play have been playing all their lives. He get even more props for that and he left the league in his prime he said he wanted to be able to be healthy later in life. Atwater caught him with feet not planted.
@XRRfan I agree with everything you said about Okoye BUT when Atwater hit him, Okoye was through the line with all his momentum going forward and Atwater was Planted and delivered a crushing hit, dropping Okoye... but besides that I agree completely with everything you said.
christian okoye was a monster until he got hit by rod woodson one time when he was trying to go up the gut. After that he started acting like he was scared to run the ball and went to the gutter.
They over used him. They ran him through the middle way too much and eventually his body got too beat up. If they would have conserved him, he would have played much longer.
Yeah, your exactly right! There really isn't a such thing as an 'every down back'. All of the great backs had somebody on the team to carry the ball every once in a while. Bo Jackson had Marcus Allen. Emmit Smith had the Moose. etc. As sorry as the 'Barry Sanders Lions' were, he didn't even carry the ball ALL of the time, not up the gut anyway.
He`s not the best rb ever...but at tecmo super bowl, he was!!!! And a tremendous athlete.I wore #35 when i played football as a fb.OKOYE ROCKS!!!

Bo Jackson would have surpassed any RB out there hands down. It is a shame he got injured
