@Paulsur I actually don't think Cenk does much cherry-picking. I think he showed the numbers he was proud of, and I believe that he helped increase the ratings for the 6pm time at MSNBC. Plus, amoung young people, he was popular, and the young people are the future.

That would probably depend on whether O'Donnell was vocal to the network about it...I doubt that MSNBC would just arbitrarily act on that without O'Donnell pushing the network because he was upset with it. I understand the social programs would be the main problem. But i belive that shouldn't be too bad. Ron Paul said several times that he won't go after most of those programs in the first moment (he will focus in cutting overseas). He also said that he would not cut medcare and medcaid to people that contribuited and would like to stay. He would be better, than somenone, like Obama, who says he is in favour of the programes, but in the end goes against them.
In the negative side, he will: (I) reduce regulation (but he will also reduce the power of big business by ending the subsidies and the taxes loopholes, if you think it is a fact that the mainstream media is against him), (II) reduce the ability of the government act in the economy (but at least the government will stop aiding big companies), (III) reduce the federal spending in social programas. Help me if i am wrong, i can't think about anything else that is really important.
In the positive side, he will: (I) end the wars and shrink the defense budget; (II) be tough with the banks and wall street, (III) stop subsiding special interests, (IV) end the loopholes in the tax codes, (V) be in favour of gay marriage, (VI) be against the patriot act, (VII) stop the “war on drugs”.
In fact, first listen to all he has to say, don't stop when he says something you think is too far on the right. Then understand what he says he will actually do, i belive that the progressives like Cenk would be in favour with most of his projects, and would be against with only a few of them (Indeed most things progressives are against, even Ron Paul says he would not do the forseable future). Let's talk about the positve and the negative, in the mind of a progressive (you may correct me).
I am writing to say i belive you all should consider supporting Ron Paul in the next ellection. I say so because, keeping it real, even if you don't agree with a lot that he has to say, and you want the change that Obama promised in the elections, in fact Ron Paul is the candidate that will more closely fight for what you belive and support.
As Cenk shows, it is clear that the democrats and the republicans are just playing good cop bad cop. First i must say that i support Ron Paul, and i don't agree with everything Cenk has to say, but i respect Cenk a LOT and i also agree with a lot he has to say. The truth is that i watch TYT for more than an year now.
As much as it was great to see Cenk getting exposure from a wider audience, it was always clear that his basic message was incompatible with the imperatives of major corporate media. We all know this is Cenk's true role, that of an outsider. So its awesome to have him back :D It was played exactly right. There was great value in the TV stint, and great value in this crazy anecdote. But TYT is still the ultimate truth-telling vehicle.
I'm new to TYT - only found out about it when I heard the news about MSNBC and Cenk - but after watching this, I realize why Maddow drives me nuts. She focuses on the Evil Tea Party Republicans. Cenk knows it's good cop / bad cop. He said EXACTLY the things I wait EVERY DAY to hear on Rachel Maddow, but never do hear - about Iraq, about the Dems, about feckin MSNBC. I will vote for Obama again simply because my theory is that he wants a second term, and that he's not pushing too hard for his first term in order to secure a second term that will allow him to be (hopefully) more bold; the republicans would be a worse choice because of women's rights and several other issues that cause me to lean a bit to the left. I realize they're almost the same parties, but liberals have more in common with my values.
The respect I've had for some time for Cenk and what I see as his honesty and integrity, which was already considerable, has been confirmed and GREATLY amplified. Cenk is saying what he has to say to cover the asses of the other MSNBC hosts but he really isnt giving himself enough credit. He did a very brave thing by not agreeing to their contract and it is so honorable that anyone who knows him must be very proud. I said many times he was going to sell out and I was ready to be disapointed once again... but he didnt. Now if I'm any kind of man with morals I have to support him for what he did. My income isnt great but I'm subscribing, no bullshit.

I am writing because i belive you should support him, and not another candidate like Obama, that will sound good, because is so easy to sound good, and that in the end will disapoint you. Like Einstein said, the definition of insanity is doing the mae thing over and over again and expecting different results.
You don't agree with everything Ron Paul says, but, at least, you know what he really thinks and what he will really do if he wins.

I know that he is not even close to be the perfect president to someone who thinks like Cenk. But at least Ron Paul is genuine, and if he does what he says he will do, i belive the progressives would support almost everyone of the programes he will actually do. I really belive that after 4 years, the progressives would support him a lot more than they support Obama now.

I understand the social programs would be the main problem. But i belive that shouldn't be too bad. Ron Paul said several times that he won't go after most of those programs in the first moment (he will focus in cutting overseas). He also said that he would not cut medcare and medcaid to people that contribuited and would like to stay. He would be better, than somenone, like Obama, who says he is in favour of the programes, but in the end goes against them.

In the negative side, he will: (I) reduce regulation (but he will also reduce the power of big business by ending the subsidies and the taxes loopholes, if you think it is a fact that the mainstream media is against him), (II) reduce the ability of the government act in the economy (but at least the government will stop aiding big companies), (III) reduce the federal spending in social programas. Help me if i am wrong, i can't think about anything else that is really important.

In fact, first listen to all he has to say, don't stop when he says something you think is too far on the right. Then understand what he says he will actually do, i belive that the progressives like Cenk would be in favour with most of his projects, and would be against with only a few of them (Indeed most things progressives are against, even Ron Paul says he would not do the forseable future). Let's talk about the positve and the negative, in the mind of a progressive (you may correct me).

As much as it was great to see Cenk getting exposure from a wider audience, it was always clear that his basic message was incompatible with the imperatives of major corporate media. We all know this is Cenk's true role, that of an outsider. So its awesome to have him back :D It was played exactly right. There was great value in the TV stint, and great value in this crazy anecdote. But TYT is still the ultimate truth-telling vehicle.

Cenk knows it's good cop / bad cop. He said EXACTLY the things I wait EVERY DAY to hear on Rachel Maddow, but never do hear - about Iraq, about the Dems, about feckin MSNBC. I will vote for Obama again simply because my theory is that he wants a second term, and that he's not pushing too hard for his first term in order to secure a second term that will allow him to be (hopefully) more bold; the republicans would be a worse choice because of women's rights and several other issues that cause me to lean a bit to the left. I realize they're almost the same parties, but liberals have more in common with my values.
