That's what's up man...I had three of these in the past...I just hated how they used to heat up so bad!!!! I'm looking to get another 1 pretty soon anyway and hopefully a fan on it to keep it cool...

@7DeuceCutty Yeah I love these amps! While there are much bigger amps today, these still do pretty well. They do run super hot (they cook food better then the George Foreman grill! only joking, haha), but if not ran into real hard clipping & you keep the speaker impedance at what RF says, it should be ok, a fan is definitely a good idea.

@kimballdrkc For sure man! These amps do put out. The output for each amp can vary a little. This one’s spec sheet shows 1028 watts, but I have another 800a2 spec sheet somewhere around here & it shows like 960 watts, but still these amps do right around 1000+ watts. Looks like Rockford’s newer amps are real nice as well, but these are my favorite RF amps!

@hockeyforlife23 And $1700 still don’t mean you can ride it ;-) haha. Back when I was heavy into bikes, late 90’s, around $500 was plenty to make the thing do what you need, 1700 is just a waste for that WOW factor to impress your buddies. Price don’t me sh!t, its what you can do with it, at least post some vids of you doing something cool with it. There’s not many old Rockfords like New In Box out there, that’s why this video was posted, not to brag. I’m done with you bro, go back to trolling.

Yoo; man I'm always coming out of no where randomly lol, anyway I just snagged a PUNCH 500a2 on the bay for $32 it is painted gold?? And complete with end caps. But the kicker is.... It's not working :( so Monday should be at my house. I have most parts to get her up and running. Btw is it possible to get the gold paint off?

@kskate91 Nice! That sounds like a deal! Does it look painted or did it come like that, I vaguely remember seeing gold ones, but maybe they were painted, lol, they had primer gray ones if I recall. If someone painted it you may be able to get it off, but the original finish won’t likely be saved, whether it be the gray one or black / silver. You would probably have to strip it completely & repaint it or leave it with just an aluminum finish (that might look cool!) Good find though man!!!

I bought a blown power 551S with 4 gauge input power wire connectors! For $13.50 lol I'm cheap. Inbought all the necessary parts to repair the power supply and outputs so when it arrives I'll try to restore it back to original and hopefully it works out great. Are these similar to the RF power 500a2? I believe it's a 2003 model too with the blue RF logo.

@kskate91 Man that’s awesome, I actually was just browsing diy before I checked youtube & seen your thread! I was like SWEET wonder what kind of deal he got! haha. I’m cheap too! lol. 2003 sounds about right. Those are nice amps. I think there similar to the 500a2, but I'm not 100% on that. My POWER 550S amps were pretty powerful & if I am not mistaken use the same board as the 551S, mine had a red logo though. With Perry’s help you should be able to fix it no problem! You find them deals bro!

@imupabove I love the 800a2 amps, classic solid amplifiers. I am not using this amplifier & probably never will other then for quick testing for fear of theft since its like new. I do however have another one, but it has not got much use either as I am still slowly installing stuff in my car when funds permit which is very slow! lol. I knew someone with an 800a2 on some old school MA Audio 12’s & it was loud. They put out 800 to 1000 watts so if that’s the power range you need it should do fine.

@nextrider123 Actually I do not plan on selling either of them, I guess it was just random video since I had it out of the box today, but yeah, I do not want to sell them. I actually plan on using the “used” one pretty soon. The new one will likely stay in its original box & may be used for quick testing here & there but won’t likely get installed in a vehicle ever, but not sure yet.

OMG i just drolled over my laptop key board LOL i wish i hadn't sold my half working Punch 800a2. After i sold mine i realized what i had now gone and how bad and expensive they are! I'm sooooo jealous of you :P Now i'm scrambling to get another 800a2 but prices don't seem like they're going down anytime soon :/ Make some vids of it in action! I love to see these in action! I favorited this vid :)

@kskate91 Atleast i still have a year 2000 punch 500aii left. it came with end caps and i got two high level input plugs + the owners manual just missing the original box....oh and i got the original allen key wrench too :) gosh your lucky! :-)

@kskate91 The 500aII is a good one, still puts out a lot of power, my POWER 550S amps jammed. My not so pretty 800 did not come with end caps, I had to buy them off ebay for like 30 bucks or so, so I guess after all said & done that amp was not super cheap, just lucky I got it pretty cheap to begin with. I will try to get some videos of it in action soon, I was going to today, but it was almost 6pm & thought it was too late to let it thump so I may wait until Monday.

@kskate91 Don’t worry man, you will find a deal. I love my 800’s, but too bad they ain’t the 1100a2’s, lol. You already sold the 800 with the blown channel? Dang it man! But you will find another, maybe even come a crossed a deal on an 1100, that would be sweet! All that talk about them things finally made me get mine out, I seen the big box sitting in my bedroom under a bunch of boxed up subs & thought, I think I’m gonna get it out today! It’s been there since my amp collection video.
