If John Rankin is Reformed as he claims, then the Pope's not Catholic! Rankin doesn't seem to know what it is he ascribes to. He says the weirdest things that have absolutely no Biblecal backing whatsoever.
yea he def is an arminian. one thing that makes me angry more than anything else is when someone claims to be a calvinist or used to be a calvinist and say "i found calvinism to be false" im pretty sure this man is one of those fools.
But I thought denominations were irrelevant... So answer me this: do you follow Paul, or Apollos? Or Christ? You say denominations don't matter to you, but yet you continue to tear them down.
i follow christ... but i also learn from paul and im sure i would from apollos as well. denominations are inevitable jesus said false christs would come. differing views need different terms and names concerning christologies soteriologies, eschatologies ect...
i am a calvinist you are an arminian. immediately i know pretty much what you believe. many counsels and creeds condemn what you believe not to appeal to authority of men. your doctrine isnt new its been defeated with scripture long ago.
You want to wrap everything up neatly and apply little labels to it. Hey, it makes you comfortable to paint everything black and white. I understand that... Believe me, but if you're after the truth, as I am, then you must know that you DO NOT have all the answers, as neither do I. I don't care what you call yourself. What matters to me is what you believe. Your knowledge of Scripture is good. Your application, your exegesis, is sadly lacking.
you dont even know what i beleive lol and exegetically youve only seen me use one verse psalms 5:5 which says God Hates people. you deny it says such a thing and then tell me im lacking some kind of "insight"? thats interesting... i never said i had all the answers. but you also assume i dont have ANY at all.. hypocrite.
Wow... Missing the forest for the tree. Sad. My point is this: You're a self-proclaimed Calvinist. That's great, but you spend your time, rather than proclaiming the Gospel, tearing down your brothers and sister in Christ simply because they don't agree on a doctrine or two. There is ONE body, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all! And yes, your exegesis is lacking... Pulling one verse out of context does NOT an argument make!
What ends up happening is that YOU, by pulling that verse out of the Scriptures' context, end up contradicting the very nature of God! He who loves (Agape!) knows God, because GOD IS LOVE! God demonstrates his love in this, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! God so LOVED The world, that He gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that WHOSOEVER believes will not perish but have ever lasting life! God is LOVE! God is Holy. God is JUST... but God is NOT a god of HATE!
It leaves them in a very unfortunate position, because while God loves them, God cannot abide in the presence of sin. Since their sin is not covered by the blood of Jesus Christ (they have not accepted Him), they fall under the punishment of holiness and wrath... That is NOT the same as hatred, as I have contended before.
