But yes i have heard about the older cape bretoners speaking gaelic i also am a fluent speaker and glad to know it's still strong over there.

The Cape Breton accent is very much influenced by the large Scottish immigration to it in the last 2 centuries, many older residents still speak Gaelic and they're trying to revive the language.

I assume her accent is tinged with Scottish in parts.

@animalunaris or she's just putting it on a bit! Hear how it dissapears after two words. I met her 4 years ago at a festival, and she sounded canadian through and through without the trace of that scottish accent!

She's an overrated fiddle player! And i know this will stir negative comments, but i'm just giving my opinion on her.

its true. im from tehre but i wasnt raised there and i still have the accent. also. my name is gaelic for hills. i thought my parents meant to do that because of our background. but they had no clue until i told them. coll eh?

It is a beautiful place. The scenery during Celtic Colours is gorgeous. Yes, that is the way Cape Bretoners speak.

@PilferMusic Duh! I come from that god forsaken part of Canada, but her accent is part put on, Trust me! i have a knack for these things. I know when someone is a phony. She sounded more Scottish when she was in Glasgow recently. Coincidence not!
