  • Ahhh it's a good yarn, but I tried er last night at the bonfire drunk and snapped my bow I did...

  • I LOVE IT !!! thank you

  • lovin this rythym.

  • Excellent . . demonstrates the difference between jig and reel rhythms perfectly, and dare I say it makes it that bit easier to play these tunes . . thanks Sam

  • Brilliant, many thanks. Oh, to bag that one !

  • So scottish in character very similar

  • @seonidh She is not in any way remotely scottish! nor is her style. It's a pseudo Canadian/ scottish/ irish style fused together in a hurry.

  • Very Nice!!!!

  • Woah, nice Mairi!! I can't wait till you move out to our neck of the woods! See you in Abby!

  • What's the name of this tune?

  • @Avngingandbright Pibroch O' Donald Dubh

  • Comment removed

  • This is a clip when Mairi was instructing at The Celtic Music Centre at The Buddy MacMaster School of Fiddling.

  • hey Mairi! met u in the creamery/port hawksbury /NC-CB. talked 2 u and u r just great! thx 4 your music! chris

  • hahahhahah you have NO IDEA how hard i laughed at that. hahhahahahahah ooohh boy. i like you :D taht was funny.

  • o'dollen her pipes means he wants to bang her lol

  • yeah i know.. i thought it was funny.. that's why i said that.

  • lol sorry that was my fault i thought you said you had no idea what it ment lol my bad

  • Yay! She's teaching at my camp!

  • Yeah _ This is a Fine Video- jim,,

  • I really like it when she plays the faster part.

  • Awesome job on the fiddle there!! Love the lilt, I can never play that style very well...

  • I would love to learn to play the fiddle. Art and music are my two passions

  • this is great!

  • My friend Bruce MacGregor from Blazin Fiddles plays this. it is TOTALLY ABSOLUTELY ABRACADABRA-ISH! GO RANKIN FAMILY!!!

  • Mairi's great:) I was in her workshop last year year, at William Kennedy Piping Festival. She's a good teacher!

  • who likes Folk music!......."ELUVEITIE - Inis Mona"

  • pretty good! but piobaireachd doesnt mean pipes! it just means pibroch :L - a type of tune played on the pipes lol

  • very nice work and btw nice cans.

  • wow cant u play fiddle style on the viola to i play the viola...+ IT WAS AWSOME!!

  • that song she played was awsome but she can play it better then me lol

  • okay then that's fine i just thought she was trying to sound scottish for the fun of it.

But yes i have heard about the older cape bretoners speaking gaelic i also am a fluent speaker and glad to know it's still strong over there.

  • Alot of Cape Bretoners still sound like those found in the following video you can find on You Tube: 1971s Vanishing Cape Breton Fiddler

Wait for Dan R about a minute into it!!!

  • why does she put on a scottish accent when she starts to talk? It slips away after two words.

  • The Cape Breton accent is very much influenced by the large Scottish immigration to it in the last 2 centuries, many older residents still speak Gaelic and they're trying to revive the language.

I assume her accent is tinged with Scottish in parts.

  • @animalunaris or she's just putting it on a bit! Hear how it dissapears after two words. I met her 4 years ago at a festival, and she sounded canadian through and through without the trace of that scottish accent!

She's an overrated fiddle player! And i know this will stir negative comments, but i'm just giving my opinion on her.

  • @MrPenfold84 That is an odd and I must say ignorant comment. CB fiddle playing is not a f****ing contest! On this clip she is VERY CLEAN and crisp. I play and I rather like her playing.

  • @sgtcrab1 Good for you! but she's still a pretentious ass! I've met her too many times and i don't like her. But hey, that's my opinion!

  • There's no putting it on. Visit Cape Breton and you'll hear the accent. Love the place! Miss it too.

  • its true. im from tehre but i wasnt raised there and i still have the accent. also. my name is gaelic for hills. i thought my parents meant to do that because of our background. but they had no clue until i told them. coll eh?

  • It is a beautiful place. The scenery during Celtic Colours is gorgeous. Yes, that is the way Cape Bretoners speak.

  • @PilferMusic Duh! I come from that god forsaken part of Canada, but her accent is part put on, Trust me! i have a knack for these things. I know when someone is a phony. She sounded more Scottish when she was in Glasgow recently. Coincidence not!

  • @MrPenfold84 Well... I know if I'm sitting in a room of Newf's I'll start talking like them to some degree and I'm not putting it on. Whatever... I like the fiddle music she plays she can speak like a monkey for all I care :)

  • Way to go Mairi! So proud of my cousins!...Ewen

  • @Turbohaggis07 Tell her from me, She's an ass!!
