In television events such as this, it is perfectly acceptable to lip-synch. Setting up the instruments and doing a thorough soundcheck is usually impossible, and a major international act such as HLN must preserve its reputation for great sounding music that sounds like the recording. They sound great live, they sound great in the studio. I think they've earned the right to lip-synch when they need to.
