  • I've just had a play in 2010 and found that it's nothing you've done...just that you have to have DYN turned on to see the dimension as it is one of the dynamic input properties. if you switch between DYN on and off you'll see the difference on the same block. Sorry it wasn't obvious to me before simply because I just always have DYN on as it is such a fast way of working.

    Cheers

  • @oakleyturvey

Thanks. DYN down, the bar appears in the middle of screen and I can type the settings in the bar and Action etc. Close the Editor, when drag the alrrow I can see the bar giving me relative dimension but the measurement at the top still missing.

Hi. I finally got it now. I changed the DYNMODE from "1" to "3". Everything is the same as your videos.

    Many thanks.

  • Firstly ensure you have DYN selected at the bottom of the screen to allow "dynamic Input" ie on the cursor. Then to get the drop down I pressed the "down arrow" on the keyboard after chosing "Linear"

I'll have a look at doing it in 2010 to see if any different. Do you have full or lite version?

  • Grateful for your trouble. I am using 2010. There is difference when setting the Linear Parameter. After you click "Linear" the sub menu appears in the middle of the scn for selecting "Value set" and "List", you typed the 3 lenghs in the bar the the middle of the screen.

While my sub. menu only at the Command and I type the 3 lenghs in the Command. After specified the start & end points, locate the label, the screen looks the same as yours.

May be something I need to do in some setting?

    Thanks.

  • I followed every step to make the block as well as added the Parameter and Action. Closed the editor and run it. Pull the allow and change the three set lengths okay but the measurement not appears like what you got in your video.

  • @dumdumkwan

I've uploaded anther clip where I highlight the step I think you may have missed. If this is not it then it may have something to do with the version you are using so please let me know and I'll try to figure it out.

The video is called "AutoCAD dynamic blocks answer"

    cheers

  • As you watch the video you will see that after defining the ends of the parameter, I place the dimension at this position. I then apply the action (Stretch) and save and test. If you miss out the step of placing the dimension it will not be shown on screen.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi

After you have applied the stretch action on the block. You test the block and there is the dynamic measurement appears at the top of the desk when you pull the right arrow, can you tell me how I can get that please? Thanks.
