Ive been in the SCA for about 3 years and I cannot for the life of me get past the Egos involved. So I am looking for another venture. As a comparison this looks to be alot cheaper to do.

I just joined Numenor at the University of Illinois and I have to strongly disagree with everyone that has said anything along the lines of, "they have no skill." It might not take the same kind of skill that is required to fight with a real, metal sword, but that does not means it's not skillful. You show up to one of these events green as I am now (even after two weeks of learning) and you'll see who has skill... Try it, Belegarth is a lot of fun!
This isn't larping, we do it on the university of illinois campus and all those big boys who act tough get hit by one of our lighter shots and starts whining about pain. Then they either walk away feeling foolish and stop their jokes, or they play for a bit and keep their mouths shuit from then on. We play full contact. Some dressing up is required but so what? So does football. I played football,... i think it looks a bit weirder to walk around in tight pants with ass padding.
Its a cool vid, the music has a bit of the theme in it if you imagine yourself fighting in a very large hall or courtyard... I just do this outside my house with my friend and brother, but WTF ppl don't understand, and have no RESPECT for anything at all and they call us names as ''knight'', wichs about it that actually hurt my friend, and he doesn't like it.

The funniest, most perverse and also most grown-up people I know do this. No one has any pre-assumptions against anyone else. No one's trying to be 'cool'. From what I've heard and read the different groups that do these kind of events do have rules for them. To get formations and organizations you'd have to work that out with the teams if any.

You need to look them up on the belegarth homepage. The three I know of in Wisconsin are Rhun, Hugginshof, and the order of the kitsune. Rhun is in madison, hugginshof in west-bend, Kitsune in rhinelander.
There are also many units who may be close to where you live, but are unknown to the webpage. You may have to contact the lcal realm to see if they have any.
Except belegarth isn't like traditional LARP. Roleplaying takes a back seat, and the fate of the battle is determined purely by fighter skill and teamwork. The fighters have no stats, spells, or HP, and influence is earned through the strength of your arm. Hits to the limbs means to 'lose' them, and the body is death. Combat is full force which makes the padded weapons hurt without leaving one badly injured.

This is belegarth. There are no spells or levels. Hit points are relaced with a honor system where one simply looses the limb where they were hit.
