P4 is crap and old processor,and it overheats very much.

It overheats because there isn't adquate airflow that the heatsink needs. Like right now, I am using Pentium 4 HT @ 2.8GHz (not OC) and it runs fine.

Maybe it's the matter of airflow that fried your CPU.

I even overclocked it and it still works fine.

It only overheats if your heatsink goes, the fan goes, or you have the first Prescott cores. The others are fine.

Windows 7 can run on almost anything. It can even be easily installed to run on tablet pcs lol.

Ran faster than xp or vista on both my desktop and laptop with AMD chips. Not that the brand of chip matters :)

depends on the PR rating really and how much ram you have an athlon with a pr rating of 3000 and the pentium is 3800mhz the pentium is faster, hyperthreading matters more on vista because its a hog but its safe to say an athlon 4000+ beats all pentium4s unless there overclocked

Me and my dad both have 1GB of RAM, my P4 is overclocked by 17%. Since its HT, I have two readings, 3.66GHz and the 2nd is normally 3.00GHz, since its overclocked its about 3.52GHz. His is not overclocked, and even when mine isn't overclocked, its faster, mine has Vista, and his has XP Home.
