The Beach Boys in their heyday were as good as the Beatles and in many ways better. A little silly (c'mon, Mike), but musically they are a very solid group (yes, I know they used studio musicians , but so did everyone that made great records); they were a vocal group of the highest regard.
@tbirdtim Agreed with all you said, but just remember that all the Wilson brothers and Al Jardine WERE musicians, and played on their records and live performances.
Ok this interesting, on the officially released Backing Track for Help Me, Rhonda, which is on Stack O Tracks, it doesn't have the Guitar Solo and the Piano Solo because, they were added in the Mono Mix down. As for the Master they used here, it must be a Mono Backing Track with the Solos, or are the Solos live? Could a Lost Multi-Track Master exist for it? I mean the solos can't be turned up in the mix, when it's Mono!
Ok I don't get it. During Please Let Me Wonder when the chorus comes around Brian is singing the "please let me wonder" backups. Who is singing "If I'm who you're dreaming of"?
@BeachBoysGuy1 Huh never saw that. Someone told me they were lip synching but I was still confused cause if they were lip synching one of them would have to look like they were doing the part. Looks like that's Mike. Thanks
Just noticed these comments about lip synching etc. Pity the audio/video isn't slightly clearer, but at first when Brian was singing, I got a bit suspicious at the apparent 'double tracking'. Although you can fairly easily see Mike doubling up now and then. Their voices blended so well, I would've thought it was Carl joining Brian . Also, I previously thought it was Carl & Mike singing Help Me Rhonnda on the recording... Now I know otherwise!
Most postings of this come from "An American Band" where the frst two bars of Carl's intro are cut off, so it's interesting to hear this. The change from the live"Fun/Texan" section to the mimed "Please/Rhonda" section is slick and probably most viewers at the time didn't notice it.
Brian has the face and voice pf an angel.....

What led them to conclude that "Long Tall Texan" was appropriate for their live sets?

Watch Dennis on Help Me Rhonda like Brian said what a cubber he is. I guess that why he used Hal Blaine in the the studio.

Strange medley. Odd song changes. I never would have thought of going from "Long, Tall Texan" to "Please Let me Wonder."

@BeachBoysGuy1 It was common on that show to 'sing along' with tracks, so you could hear some parts live and some were pre-rexcorded.
