kinda proud i got the spear when i was lvl 32 with my 3 main players and lvl 17 with the other 3. barely survived getting to spear let alone out. got real lucky and i just finished the tomb of raithwall. now to continue on the story from there ^.^ all i heard bout spear i had to get asap so i hope its worth the headache and trouble getting it so darn early in the game =)

To found that chest with Zodiak Spear needs to NOT open follow chests during the game:

1st chest: In front of Old Dalan's place in Lowtown

2nd chest: In the Royal Palace of Rabanastre

3rd chest: In the Room of Confiscated Goods at Nalbina Prison

4th chest: Among the collection of chests in the area southeast of the Hunter's Club HQ at Phon Coast.

And important - NOT equip Diamond Armlet.

@SacredRayneShadows Did you have a Diamond Armlet equipped at the time? Cause if so, you'll get a Dark Matter instead of Zodiac Spear from the chest in Necrohol of Nabudis - Cloister of the Highborn.

@SacredRayneShadows I'll also add in that the Necrohol Zodiac Spear chest is a one time only chest. Once you open, it doesn't respawn from a reloaded save or going 2 zones away (so no farming multiple Zodiac Spears). So if you had Diamond Armlet equipped, opened all the chests in Cloister of the Highborn, got the Dark Matter, and saved afterwards, that chest is gone for good.

@aqwwow Not opening the 'Zodiac Chests' is the guaranteed way of getting the Spear in Nabudis. If you end up blowing it, you can still grab one in the Henne Mines. but it's much more time consuming. You can also get multiple Spears that way.

right so basicly there is no way to get the zodiac spear if you go through the game opening like every chest you see, bcs i just checked and there was no chests :(

they are they are some chest u need not to opend and they are (1) In the "low town" directly in front of old Dalan's place.

(2) The treasure coffers in the cellars' southeast corner.

(3) The treasure coffers in the Confiscatory. This is after you recover your lost equipment in the Nalbina dungeons.

(4) There is a huge stash of sixteen treasure chests at the eastern point of Vaddu Strand (Phon Coast Region). If you have opened any of the previous chests, you only receive Gil.

4.Phon Coast there are treasure chest there near together do not get all of them just to be sure!!! and WALA

there are certain treasure chests in the game separated by hours of gameplay that, when opened, ruin your chances of getting the zodiac spear. you can get a list of those chests on gamefaqs probly or another site like that

When I go there there aren't any chests at all, I'm average lvl 75 now so I think is should get it now, Necrohol of Nabudis is very easy for me :)

As far as i remember I didn't go there before, and i also didn't open one of the 4 chests elsewhere????

Pro tip: If your having trouble, cast Immobilize on one of your party members and then run away. If your far enough away from the immobilized charecter when you change to the immobilized charecter and then back to who was getting attacked there wont be any enemys (close to you anyway).

I got the Zodiac Spear with all my characters level 38, no bubble needed. Sometimes I got outnumbered by the mobs. So I just zoned. But the mobs here were awesome experience, especially if you had the double exp accessory on.

they called this part mission impossible that's very funny ^ ^ ....this was easy. i got my zodiac in 1st try. just follow these tips. full buff after zoning,raise,protect,shell,has­te. 1 character at 1 time for 100% survival. just see the map of necrohol to easen ur zodiac marathon and ur set. u will get that in no time. and u can buy goods to the baknamy merchant north part of the 1st zone

You most likely had the Diamond armlet then, although it says "superior loot from chests" it mostly just gives knots of rust....almost always...

I found the spear and was an inch from the exit when I forgot about the mine at the entrance and it killed my last three characters. i didnt know about the zodiac spear until after i beat the gameXD i didnt even look for chests..at least i dont think i did...well il going to try but ive got a good thing, im high lvl, have bubble and i got the sheild called..ensuigned shield..the one with 90 evade. ill be in and out before i know itXD
