I'm 15 and I speak mandarin Fluently,MyMemories19 is right, you don't stress the n enough. and in mandarin especially, you have to be able to stress each tone or one phrase can be completely different from what you actually meant. But the fact that you can be able to read the characters is pretty impressive. I think if you tried to read it like there wasn't any punctuation, it might be help the accent. And this was posted quite a while ago, so I don't know how your doing now. Anyways, good luck!
I thought you said: "他是哪的." I think you meant to say 他是男的,我是女的。 The last n sound in 男 wasn't distinct to me. I think you're doing a great job, but 都 - 女 - 友 - 校. Your fourth tones are clear. 2nd and 3rd need work. If you're looking for honesty, I can tell you that you should try to say it fluidly and not as choppy as this. I understood what you said, but I know you want to do much better. =)
Thanks! This was filmed a LONG time ago, and I've actually forgotten most, but you are right! I realized I didn't stress the n sound at the end of 男, but it was my first time filming myself speaking a different language, lol, and I was nervous, and consequently too lazy to re-do it :)
your pronounciation is actually pretty good, well, with a bit accent of course but completely comprehensible , its good enough for someone who only studies Chinese for 8 month
keep up the work, dnt give up on studying the language, with more practice you ace it. :)
excuse my English, its my second language as well...
you are good and it is important that you have started to learn one of the most difficult languages. good luck. Practice and more practice makes better.
Hey speed6mazda: To be honest, I haven't gotten MUCH better, but I have improved since this video. If I find the time to post an update, I will. Thanks for the comment.
I speak Cantonese, which is a southern dialect of Mandarin, but is very closely related, and I thought that you were great. It's weird hearing an American speak Chinese with no American accent.
I'm actually surprised you can understand me. Mandarin and Cantonese seem extremely different speech wise. Character wise they're very similar. But I know that "Hello" in Mandarin is Ni hao, and in Canto it's something like Nay Ho or something along those lines, lol.
