I cant notice any difference on the compressor really. so after the few times triying it,i havent done anything with it. dont even know what it could be used for even.
@97warlock Try this: set a relatively clean sound and strum a nice open G chord. Then turn on the compressor and the EZ Tone button too - that will select a good preset config for the effect. Now strum again the chord: can't you hear a difference? It should sustain much longer.
Compressor is essential for some kinds of sound, for example Gilmour's tone in the Comfortably Numb solos. Lots of compression, hit a note, bend up, apply vibrato -> joy! ;) I hope this helps. Have fun.
My amp (Crate gfx1200h) gets a lotta hiss when cranked up ......so Today at practice,Im going to run the amp Clean, and see what I can get for a good distortion using just the Boss.
ALSO- IF there were a way I can make some kind of "wedge" type peice to temp place under the Vol.pedal on the board,to prevent such a wide range of movement,It maybe allow me to press for Vol boost & stepback for rythem w/o going too far.Maybe plastic or wood using velcro strip maybe. Just a "blocker" sorta.
@97warlock Sounds like you are using double effects, if you are using the amp sims you should only use the clean setting on the pedal and vice versa for the amp
@skione nah, No effects on the amp itself. Only the distortion on the amp,but enourmous hiss.....and as an update, since i typed all that up above.......I have been running the amp clean & Although i dont get the tone I want out of the boss me70,its close but a bit tinty ....I have NO hiss at high volume & high gain running the amp clean. Worthwhile trade.
@97warlock I've noticed the Amp sim on the Boss is not that great especially running through a Roland Cube (which the guy at the store suggested), so I may bring back the cube and get a different amp however I otherwise love the device! I don't know I may play around with the settings some more. The wah effect is REALLY good and so is the compressor!
on the SOLO setting (far left button) ......i can only get about a 8-10 % volume increase........whats the best way to boost volume using THAT solo feature on the left & it be a substantial amount of volume boost? SOLO boost seems weak on mine.
@97warlock You may try turning the "Level" knob up. But the SOLO fx isn't a volume boost: I think it's more of a compressor plus some kind of EQ. It won't make you sound louder, but will make your guitar sustain more (compressor) and also enhance some frequencies to make your sound cut through the mix better. If you need louder, you either use the expr. pedal on the BOSS, or the volume knob on your guitar, or on your amp, at least as long as you don't overdrive it. Have fun.
@Elefender The solo setting is on the compressor stomp so its an ultra squished comp setting. Which in a solo situation stomping it should make your sound punch though the mix, understanding how compressors work would help you understand this. Read about it! The trick would be to keep the volume pedal at 60-70% of max and stomp the solo box and increase the volume, it would give you a very dramatic punch as you entered your solo break!
@xPicturePerfectBandx I really don't know. I bought a digital multi-effects pedal so I wouldn't have to buy single pedals... Just out of curiosity: what BOSS pedal would you use that isn't already on the ME-70? Have fun.
@MrAcemok You must be mistaken: I'm not a technician for BOSS, and I'm not in any way connected with them. I'm just some guy with a pedal effect. If you have problems with your device, contact your seller or the manufacturer. I'm sure they'll be able to help you. Have fun.
i found one of these in the band room at my highschool and i play with it constantly even though i play bass. i freakin love this thing my setup at home isnt too elaborate and i cant play a whole bunch of Tool songs with my home rig but with this pedal i can do just about any of their songs. this thing rocks!
@psycosid1987 Hi! 01) In memory mode the pedals select preset 1..4 in the current preset bank. See the 4th part of this demo for a demonstration. You can also select a preset bank, using two small buttons right under the LED display, or with a pedal presses combo (see manual page E-11 - you can download the manual from the BOSS's website). Then you have other pedal combos to turn on the tuner and to switch to manual mode; 02) Yes.
@MilesTheMusicDude It's strange that you don't hear a difference, it's a very noticeable effect, at least to me. It's a kind of wide, slow vibrato, it's supposed to sound like a fretless guitar. Try playing around with the controls. Have fun.
@jpjdo1212 How am I supposed to know what gear is better for you?! You know what you need and how much you can spend: do your research. I'll be happy to answer any question you have about how I like the ME-70 and how does it work for me.
@jpjdo1212 boss me 70 it is easy to use and more practical then the pod hd 300 i would fully recommend the boss ive owned both and ive kept my boss because i love how easy and convenient it is to just pack up and go to a show in conclusion BUY THE BOSS
@asad17111993 If you are 100% sure about the brand, I guess it all comes down to what budget you have, and of course what you can find in your gear shop of choice.
Also keep in mind that this video is now about 2 years old: tech stuff improves very fast so what was very good 2 years ago may be mediocre today compared to more recent offerings. So do your research and be sure to explore all the brands and models within your reach. Good luck!
@Elefender I am very sure of the brand cuz I have used boss effects before and they are like the best... My budget is around $300 dollar... The only thing that worries me about this model is that u cant plug it to your PC to record.... ME-25 offers this feature... do you think its ok to go for ME-25 just for the recording purpose or is ME-70 still a good option..?
@asad17111993 I don't know mate: it's your money, you decide! ;)
All I can tell you is, personally I miss an audio interface in my ME-70, but on the other hand I like how easy it is to dial a sound the way I want it, and also change it "on the fly".
So I think you should assess how you're going to use the multifx, and decide which model is the best for you. Have fun!
@asad17111993 I am not so aware of the other models but I will buy this model because of the loop playing provided by the delay section (50 doesn't have such as far as I know) and of the pc input connection as well. the sounds that i heard (uncluding the inteligent harmonizer) so far as blends are really clean . it is easy to manipulate and his interface is let say "logic" therefore intuitive in some way.
@gsdagent I'm not 100% sure you're talking about the ME-70, but if you are, you may want to check your facts, you have a couple of them wrong. First, the ME-70 *doesn't* have a audio interface for connecting it to a PC; second, I wouldn't call the harmonizer "intelligent", it's just a very basic harmonizer.
You're right about the looper and the easy to use interface though. Have fun.
@Elefender yes you are right. IT doesn't have interface but proTools will make the things ;) The harmonizer is basic as well but this are minor elements not so important for me. See what happens the first time when I used it. I was amazed by the sound that i created at the beginning:
Dude, I've got a problem! =/ I've bought this, but I don't know how to record. I see that it should be in the same spot as you put in your headphones that you put in to usb, but I'm confused. I also bought an USB-connected interface, and wonder how to connect it all and record. Honestly, I don't understand a shit about it^^
@robban97swe Hi. If you bought a USB audio interface, I think the easiest thing to do would be to take the output you would send to the amp (AMP out MONO) and send it to the interface instead. That should give you the best quality. Good luck and have fun!
hi.. i am about to buy a guitar effects.. and i wonder if you would suggest this over a zoom g9.2tt?? does it have a lot of effects?? though the distortions of boss are crunchy..
@bonz0416 The Zoom G9 has got a lot more effects and goodies but it's more complicated to learn to use. Also, when I was looking to buy a multi-fx pedal, from my searches on Google it seemed Zoom's were less reliable. YMMV. The BOSS sounds good to me, it's reasonably priced, it's got a looper which is nice to have, it's very easy to use and very sturdy. I miss a direct computer connection though. Another pedal that I liked is the Digitech RP500. I hope this helps. Have fun!
@bonz0416 If I remember correctly, the RP500 has more or less the same number of effects than the BOSS ME-70. I'd suggest you do some Google searches, download and read the manuals, read reviews, watch demos here on YouTube and anywhere you can find them. And of course, if you can, try the pedals yourself. Then buy the one *you* like the best, and have a lot of fun with it! Good luck.
@ibek1200 Yes it has. The noise you heard may be because my recording equipment is less than perfect - actually it sucks: pedal's line-out straight into the camera's mic-in. Have fun.
@jeremyjwwt *I* can't. It doesn't have an onboard USB audio interface. I tried to use the mic port on my laptops to record the ME-70 (I tried both the line-out and the amp-out ports) but the results were unusable - too much noise. I had much better results using my Pocket Pod. YMMV. Have fun.
@ilseviolin No it doesn't have any USB inputs at all. Or outputs for that matter. Your only way to connect the ME-70 to a PC is through the analog line-out port. I've never managed to get a decent sound that way though. I have to use my Pocket Pod for that kind of stuff.
Instead, it works very well with camcorders for some reason... I tried it with an old Canon, and also with the Kodak Zi8, and got very decent results.
I just Got one of these and I am not happy! I want Alex Skolnicks tone!!! Any way that's possible on this? (I know the DMarzio pickups have a lot to do with it) I cannot seem to get a Good Lead tone with it or the Rhythm sounds... well, it makes my marshal Tube amp sound like a Solid state.
Gonna watch your review and see if you answer some questions for me, but I am starting to realize you cannot get real tone with a Digital Pedal.
@LidlessEyeBand If you like the natural sound of your tube amp, you may try turning off the ME-70's amp simulations and just use the effects pedals - it's still a lot of sounds to experiment with, and maybe they'll feel a bit less artificial. Sorry I don't know Alex Skolnicks so I can't give you any hints on obtaining his tone. Good luck and have fun.
@somethingmusical I haven't found a way to record a decent sound from the ME-70 to my PC. So if you plan to buy a multi-fx and use it mainly for recording, I'd suggest you buy something else, unless you really love the sound of this one or there is an effect on it that you really must have. Otherwise, I'd look for a multi-fx with an on-board audio device that you can connect to a PC via USB (like the Digitech RP500). Or maybe just a computer device like the Line 6 POD Studio. Have fun!
@somethingmusical I have a korg ax1000 that I'm happy with. I'm sure the newer ones are even better. I had a boss me-30 some yrs. ago and it was all plastic and really cheap. If you had it out (in a car for an hour or 2) during the winter, the vol. pedal would not work until it warmed up. check out harmonycenteral and look at the user reviews.
@1manwithstick The ME-70 isn't some plastic cheap pedal. It's built like a tank and works fine. Problem is, it doesn't have an on-board audio interface to connect it directly to a PC, so if your main target is recording to a PC, there are better choices. The Korg AX1000 isn't one of those, though, as it doesn't have an audio interface either. Not to mention it's not in production anymore.
@Elefender yeah, I got theKorg several yrs. ago. It does have an aux input I use with my laptop if I want to play along with a jam track, but can't record to pc
Why do you think you're qualified to upload 20 minutes of video demonstrating this when you cant play for toffee? Its a good job there are decent demos on here or we wouldn't know if it sucked because it was crap or because you cant get a decent sound out of it.
@RO80T I recorded it by taking the Line-out signal straight into the video-camera Mic-in input.
For full disclosure, I tried more than once to record from the pedal straight into my PC, but I can't get a decent sound that way: it's always very noisy. That's why I always use the Pocket Pod for this. I'm planning of buying a dedicated interface like the Line 6 Pod Studio.
@cacophonybecker It's $300. It's predecessor, the ME-50, ran for only $219. But the ME-70 has things that the ME-50 doesn't, most notably the click-on compressor. Admittedly, the ME-50 also has some things the ME-70 doesn't. Anyway. It's $300.
@Kristianeb 500 chars aren't enough to explain all the differences. Not that I know all of them anyway. I think they're both valid products: good value for money, good reliability, good sounds. The ME-70 if 5 separate pedals, the RP-500 is menu driven. The ME-70 has a looper, the RP-500 a USB audio interface. Obviously they have different processors so they sound different. Google them, download their manuals, watch videos, try to make your own opinion. Have fun!
@Kristianeb I have an ME-70 and my friend has an RP-500, and let me tell you, the most noticable difference is that the RP-500 is really freaking difficult to figure out. But it has click-on reverb, which is kinda nifty.
@ice0wn4g Ehi mate. The pedal comes with a nicely done manual, it's just 20 pages long and easy to read. :) If you've lost it, or don't have the pedal yet, you can download it from BOSS's website. And if you read the writings on the pedal itself you can figure out what everything does.
Anyway you switch between manual and memory mode by pressing pedals 3 and 4 at the same time.
What do you mean with "automatically do this"? If you can explain maybe I can help you.
@shreeshsk I don't know, I'm not sure you can do that. I've never tried this myself, actually it doesn't make a lot of sense to me: the looper is a pedal effect, if you change the patch, you change the effects... Use it in manual mode instead - you can still change your sound a lot using it. Sorry I can't be of much help.
@Elefender k its k ... but dude think u have looped say fade to black intro in a clean tone and then u wanna play a solo over it u know using the lead patch... thts my confusion .. iv seen ppl do it but dunno how ... any ways thnx :)
@shreeshsk I don't know the song (not my genre), but maybe you can try something like this: using the manual mode, choose a suitable amp sim, something that can do clean but also distorts (STACK maybe?). Set a nice clean sound up with no pedals, and then using the pedal n.2 prepare a nice distorted sound. Play the intro, and then switch to the lead part by turning the pedal n. 2 on. Compression (pedal n. 1) can give you an even fatter sound, suitable for a solo - sustain too. Have fun
@TheiJordBateMuse I set my amp dialing all the eq knobs at 12 o'clock, and set the gain so that it sounds *clean* without the pedal. Maybe your amp is already in its distortion zone with the knob at 12 o'clock... Try lowering the gain until you get a nice natural clean sound without the pedal, and then connect the pedal and try again. Try lowering the pedal's main volume too. If everthing fails, Google your amp name and ME-70: you may find useful tips. Good luck!
@MILAN364741 Ehi man, I suggest you ask your favourite gear shop, or browse your favourite online store for an up-to-date price. I payed 280 EUR for it, but it was in Italy AND a year ago. :) Have fun.
For anyone who is watching this video and is considering buying this unit: You will not be dissapointed. Don't waste your money on a $1000 boutique pedalboard when this guy gets the same job done. The preamp function is probably the best feature of this unit, as it can really diversify how you are pushing your amplifier.
@strabbs1 Check this video and also part IV out for a sample. I think its clean sounds are good: I especially like preamp n. 2 (COMBO, which should sound like a VOX AC30) at low gain; preamp n. 1 (CLEAN) is also nice. I'm not much of a connoisseur though: I'm just a bedroom player. :) Have fun.
im buying this tomorow i have a line 6 spider 15 watt and im looking for a blink 182 sounds also a angels and airwaves sound very spacey lots of delay will this do ? search angels and airwaves if u dont no who they are haha thanks
@alexmetallicaZFC13 It depends on the amp, I guess. I tried the pedal with my humble Orange Crush 10 W, and with a Line 6 Spider III 75, and it sounded good to me.
As long as the amp is capable of a decent clean sound, it should sound fine with the ME-70. Anyway if you can, try it on your amp before purchasing it.
@Elefender i have a spider III 30- i believe that it doesnt have much of a sound quality..i am considering of buying a tube amp btw... something about 50watts ...i dunno marshall MA50 or blackstar HT club40 or somthing...but for now maybe i ll stick to this pedal for start..i think i m gonna take the chance and buy it after all>> hope its the right choice dude! thanx for the advice
hey this will sound dumb but i got one for christmas and i really liked it but then one of my buddies was playing aroung with it and took it off manual mode. then i lost the manual booklet. So can you tell me how i get back to the default settings? i'd really appreciate it. i've been stuck for weeks. thanks
@MrFifield77 Man, it's written on the pedal itself: there's "Memory mode" written between pedals 3 and 4, it means you have to press them together to switch between manual and memory mode. You can also download the manual from BOSS's website (you need to register first).
Anyway, try to play around with the manual mode too: it's fun! :)
hey man with the phrase looper, i realize you dont showcase it but once youve recorded one riff and you are playin another riff on top of it, can you record that second one too, and solo over those two?
Yes, you can overlay a new track on top of the existing loop, as many times as you want. You just press the looper pedal once to start recording. It stops recording automatically at the end of the loop. It's fun! ;)
I don't know mate, never heard about the AX3000G before. :) I did a quick search for it on Google, and it looks nice, and has some features the ME-70 doesn't have. But I have no idea about how it sounds, how reliable it is, or how easy it easy to use.
You may want to do some Google searches yourself, or ask someone more knowledgeable than me!
@metalking40 - man! dont even think about getting the AX3000G. I have it, and the sound is TOTAL crap. I have the ME-70 too, and i can tell u, it beats it to the ground. The sound is wayy better!
Through a PA it should sound as good as it sounds through a guitar amp set on clean.
I've never tried the GT-8. I know it and it's bigger brother the GT-10 are very well regarded - excellent reviews everywhere. You can't really compare them fairly to the ME-70 as they are intended for a different target user and priced accordingly. I think the ME-70 has a very good quality/price ratio but if you can afford them, the GT-8/10 should be better. The ME-70 seems easier to use though! :)
There are two buttons to change banks, but they are small and almost impossible to hit with your feet, unless you have tiny, geisha feet. :-D You can switch banks with the pedals, too, but it require a bit of tip-tap dancing. :-)
When in memory mode, you press pedals 1 and 2 together. You select the bank with pedals 3 and 4, then you press either 1 or 2 to confirm. And at last, you press the pedal corresponding to the memory slot you want to use. You can download the manual if you wish. Ciao!
It should work fine with a Line 6 Spider. I've used it on a Spider III 75 and it sounded good: I turned off the preamp simulations though.
The Spider has a few effects on-board itself. You may want to take a look at the Line 6 FBV Express: it's a pedalboard that give you access to the amps functions, and also gives you an expression pedal for volume and wah.
I don't know about about the price: you may want to look around in your favorite shops.
Zoom or Vox, ok. I read they are less reliable than BOSS, though.
The Pod XT is quite a bit more expensive than the BOSS.
The T-Rexs are all analog: I bet they sound great, but for 280 EUR you buy ONE distortion pedal!
I agree the BOSS ME-70 will never give you the beautiful sound of an analog OD/DS pedal through a good valve amp, but I still think it's very good value for money, and a great starting point for the beginner/amateur.
OK people, let's keep the game fun. If you don't agree with gunfart's opinion (or anybody else's), tell us why, so that we can all learn something from your experience. I will REMOVE every comment that contains insults to anyone or is just an empty bashing of some brand or another.
It all depends on what gear you already own, what sound you want to achieve, and what's your budget. The ME-70 works for me, but this doesn't mean it will be right for you.
Do your research, read as much as you can (but don't trust everything you read! :), watch demos and use your ears. When in doubt, ask: experienced musicians are usually happy to help.
what do you recomend? to buy separated pedals or to buy a multi effect pedal?i mean i have a zoom g1x wich i am happy with, but i'm going to play live shows and live it's not very good.
Both solutions have pros and cons. IMHO, multifx pedals pros are: presets, portability, ease of setup, price. On the other hand, depending on your style, a fully analog signal line could give you a sound you like more.
It also depends on what equipment you already have. What's your amp?
Also: do you know how many/what effects you need? If you don't, a multifx makes it easier to experiment. But if you know you just need, say, distortion and chorus, two stompboxes may be a better choice. Have fun!
well, i don't really know, because my band is starting to play on tv shows and stuff next year, and we have to use their amps, so it's probably marshalls everywhere. but i guess it's easier to have a multifx pedal, maybe one like yours or bigger. and the effects i use are: distortion of course, clean, and probably flanger on clean sound, and not much more than that.anyway i am trying to have a sound like 80's rock. i think the one i have right now is good enought
Well, if you're a pro, I suggest you ignore the speculations of the 30 yr old beginning bedroom player (that's me). :D Ask someone with actual stage experience instead: I'm sure they'll give you better recommendations than I could.
As for me, I wish you the best of luck. :) Have fun!
a pro? no way ahah. i am just lucky. and all opinions are important, i wouldn't ask if i thought you would say something useless. but anyway thank you ;) keep rocking.
I don't know: it depends on a lot of factors. What kind of tone are you looking for? Do you know what effects you need? Do you like how the pedal sounds? What's your budget? Where do you plan to use it (home, band practice, gig, world tour :) )?
I can't really recommend anything anyway. All I can say is this pedal suits *me* fine: it does what I need, I like how it sounds, seems sturdy and reliable, and has a good price. What you do with those infos is up to you! :) Have fun!
I can tell you how it is through my little 10 watter: I think it sounds pretty good. I can make the sounds I want with little effort: I just set the amp to a clean setting, with neutral eq (I turn all the eq knobs to 12 o'clock) and dial the sounds on the pedal.
I also tried it through a Line 6 Spider III 75 and it sounded good as well. I turned off the pedals amp sims and just used it as a set of stompboxes. Hours of fun. :)
I don't do metal so I'm not the right guy to ask to. I don't know the ML2 either but, in theory, the Metal Core distortion effect on the ME-70 should sound exactly like it.
I think this pedal sounds pretty good and it's very good value for money, but you have different needs than me, so you should do your own research. YouTube and Google are your friends! :)
aye man... are u running the ME-70 through an amp..coz im tryn to connect it to ma line 6 spider 3 75 but it dusnt sound tt gr8 can u or any 1 else for tht matter help me out
Ehi. In these videos I recorded the ME-70 line-out, with no amp. I usually use it with my earphones but sometimes I plug it into my amp - just a solid-state practice amp with no modeling.
I have used the pedal with a Line 6 Spider III 75 though, and it sounded great. All I had to do was to turn off the amp modeling on the pedal: just turn the knob on the top left all counterclock-wise.
Or you could set the amp to its cleanest setting and use the pedal's modeling instead. Your choice. :) Ciao!
I wouldn't call it a song, it's four open chords (I'm not sure, but it should be G D Am Em). I bet there's a million songs that use this progression. :) But I didn't have any particular one in mind when I played it.
I have a Ibanez RGR321EX and a Line 6 spider 3 15watt amp, will this boss me-70 plug into it no problem, or will i have to buy another device for it to work properly, like a pod or something, i need to know as i might be buying one, and i dont wanna find out it doesnt work after £210 :P. So i need to know.
I have tried the pedal with a Line 6 Spider III 75W and it worked very well. I just plugged my guitar into the pedal's input, and the pedal's output into the amp input. For best results you may want to turn off the pedal's amp simulation, as the Spider already does it and quite well too.
Beware: the Spider already has a few effects as well, so I'm not sure the ME-70 is the best choice for you. Maybe Line 6's own pedalboard (Line 6 FBV) would be a better choice? Use Google! Then choose wisely!
Well I'm picking mine up next week along with the RC- 30.

Have fun.

97warlock 1 month ago

I'm looking forward your answer ,thanks a lot!

@MrAcemok You must be mistaken: I'm not a technician for BOSS, and I'm not in any way connected with them. I'm just some guy with a pedal effect. If you have problems with your device, contact your seller or the manufacturer. I'm sure they'll be able to help you. Have fun.

i found one of these in the band room at my highschool and i play with it constantly even though i play bass. i freakin love this thing my setup at home isnt too elaborate and i cant play a whole bunch of Tool songs with my home rig but with this pedal i can do just about any of their songs. this thing rocks!
yomammaonastick 5 months ago
@psycosid1987 Hi! 01) In memory mode the pedals select preset 1..4 in the current preset bank. See the 4th part of this demo for a demonstration. You can also select a preset bank, using two small buttons right under the LED display, or with a pedal presses combo (see manual page E-11 - you can download the manual from the BOSS's website). Then you have other pedal combos to turn on the tuner and to switch to manual mode; 02) Yes.
I hope this helps. Have fun!

MilesTheMusicDude 7 months ago
@MilesTheMusicDude It's strange that you don't hear a difference, it's a very noticeable effect, at least to me. It's a kind of wide, slow vibrato, it's supposed to sound like a fretless guitar. Try playing around with the controls. Have fun.

@jpjdo1212 boss me 70 it is easy to use and more practical then the pod hd 300 i would fully recommend the boss ive owned both and ive kept my boss because i love how easy and convenient it is to just pack up and go to a show in conclusion BUY THE BOSS

I am thinkin of buying a multi effects pedal.... i am not sure if i should go for ME 25, ME 50 or this model.... help plz...!
asad17111993 9 months ago
@asad17111993 If you are 100% sure about the brand, I guess it all comes down to what budget you have, and of course what you can find in your gear shop of choice.
Also keep in mind that this video is now about 2 years old: tech stuff improves very fast so what was very good 2 years ago may be mediocre today compared to more recent offerings. So do your research and be sure to explore all the brands and models within your reach. Good luck!
Elefender 9 months ago
@Elefender I am very sure of the brand cuz I have used boss effects before and they are like the best... My budget is around $300 dollar... The only thing that worries me about this model is that u cant plug it to your PC to record.... ME-25 offers this feature... do you think its ok to go for ME-25 just for the recording purpose or is ME-70 still a good option..?
asad17111993 9 months ago
@asad17111993 I don't know mate: it's your money, you decide! ;)
All I can tell you is, personally I miss an audio interface in my ME-70, but on the other hand I like how easy it is to dial a sound the way I want it, and also change it "on the fly".
So I think you should assess how you're going to use the multifx, and decide which model is the best for you. Have fun!
Elefender 9 months ago
@Elefender Ok... thanx...! :)
asad17111993 9 months ago
@asad17111993 I am not so aware of the other models but I will buy this model because of the loop playing provided by the delay section (50 doesn't have such as far as I know) and of the pc input connection as well. the sounds that i heard (uncluding the inteligent harmonizer) so far as blends are really clean . it is easy to manipulate and his interface is let say "logic" therefore intuitive in some way.
gsdagent 9 months ago
@gsdagent I'm not 100% sure you're talking about the ME-70, but if you are, you may want to check your facts, you have a couple of them wrong. First, the ME-70 *doesn't* have a audio interface for connecting it to a PC; second, I wouldn't call the harmonizer "intelligent", it's just a very basic harmonizer.
You're right about the looper and the easy to use interface though. Have fun.
Elefender 9 months ago
@Elefender yes you are right. IT doesn't have interface but proTools will make the things ;) The harmonizer is basic as well but this are minor elements not so important for me. See what happens the first time when I used it. I was amazed by the sound that i created at the beginning:

Dude, I've got a problem! =/ I've bought this, but I don't know how to record. I see that it should be in the same spot as you put in your headphones that you put in to usb, but I'm confused. I also bought an USB-connected interface, and wonder how to connect it all and record. Honestly, I don't understand a shit about it^^
Help is much appriciated=)
robban97swe 1 year ago
@robban97swe Hi. If you bought a USB audio interface, I think the easiest thing to do would be to take the output you would send to the amp (AMP out MONO) and send it to the interface instead. That should give you the best quality. Good luck and have fun!

@Elefender Thanks alot!! Really helpfull!!

hi.. i am about to buy a guitar effects.. and i wonder if you would suggest this over a zoom g9.2tt?? does it have a lot of effects?? though the distortions of boss are crunchy..
bonz0416 1 year ago
@bonz0416 The Zoom G9 has got a lot more effects and goodies but it's more complicated to learn to use. Also, when I was looking to buy a multi-fx pedal, from my searches on Google it seemed Zoom's were less reliable. YMMV. The BOSS sounds good to me, it's reasonably priced, it's got a looper which is nice to have, it's very easy to use and very sturdy. I miss a direct computer connection though. Another pedal that I liked is the Digitech RP500. I hope this helps. Have fun!
Elefender 1 year ago
@Elefender does rp500 has more effects than that of boss me 70?? so, which of the three would you suggest?? thx man.. :)
bonz0416 1 year ago
@bonz0416 If I remember correctly, the RP500 has more or less the same number of effects than the BOSS ME-70. I'd suggest you do some Google searches, download and read the manuals, read reviews, watch demos here on YouTube and anywhere you can find them. And of course, if you can, try the pedals yourself. Then buy the one *you* like the best, and have a lot of fun with it! Good luck.
Elefender 1 year ago
It seems to be a little noisy when playing more distorted tones. Does it have a noise gate built in ?
ibek1200 1 year ago
@ibek1200 Yes it has. The noise you heard may be because my recording equipment is less than perfect - actually it sucks: pedal's line-out straight into the camera's mic-in. Have fun.

can u use this to record on a pc?
jeremyjwwt 1 year ago 2
@jeremyjwwt *I* can't. It doesn't have an onboard USB audio interface. I tried to use the mic port on my laptops to record the ME-70 (I tried both the line-out and the amp-out ports) but the results were unusable - too much noise. I had much better results using my Pocket Pod. YMMV. Have fun.

ilseviolin 8 months ago
@ilseviolin No it doesn't have any USB inputs at all. Or outputs for that matter. Your only way to connect the ME-70 to a PC is through the analog line-out port. I've never managed to get a decent sound that way though. I have to use my Pocket Pod for that kind of stuff.
Instead, it works very well with camcorders for some reason... I tried it with an old Canon, and also with the Kodak Zi8, and got very decent results.
Elefender 8 months ago
@jeremyjwwt Yes you can record direct from the ME-70, it functions as a direct box bringing your single to line level.
skione 4 weeks ago
I just Got one of these and I am not happy! I want Alex Skolnicks tone!!! Any way that's possible on this? (I know the DMarzio pickups have a lot to do with it) I cannot seem to get a Good Lead tone with it or the Rhythm sounds... well, it makes my marshal Tube amp sound like a Solid state.
Gonna watch your review and see if you answer some questions for me, but I am starting to realize you cannot get real tone with a Digital Pedal.
Hope i'm wrong.
LidlessEyeBand 1 year ago
@LidlessEyeBand If you like the natural sound of your tube amp, you may try turning off the ME-70's amp simulations and just use the effects pedals - it's still a lot of sounds to experiment with, and maybe they'll feel a bit less artificial. Sorry I don't know Alex Skolnicks so I can't give you any hints on obtaining his tone. Good luck and have fun.
Elefender 1 year ago
i'm really thinking about getting this but i want to record into my laptop. what would be bestto use to record?
somethingmusical 1 year ago
@somethingmusical I haven't found a way to record a decent sound from the ME-70 to my PC. So if you plan to buy a multi-fx and use it mainly for recording, I'd suggest you buy something else, unless you really love the sound of this one or there is an effect on it that you really must have. Otherwise, I'd look for a multi-fx with an on-board audio device that you can connect to a PC via USB (like the Digitech RP500). Or maybe just a computer device like the Line 6 POD Studio. Have fun!
Elefender 1 year ago
@somethingmusical I have a korg ax1000 that I'm happy with. I'm sure the newer ones are even better. I had a boss me-30 some yrs. ago and it was all plastic and really cheap. If you had it out (in a car for an hour or 2) during the winter, the vol. pedal would not work until it warmed up. check out harmonycenteral and look at the user reviews.
1manwithstick 1 year ago
@1manwithstick The ME-70 isn't some plastic cheap pedal. It's built like a tank and works fine. Problem is, it doesn't have an on-board audio interface to connect it directly to a PC, so if your main target is recording to a PC, there are better choices. The Korg AX1000 isn't one of those, though, as it doesn't have an audio interface either. Not to mention it's not in production anymore.
Elefender 1 year ago
@Elefender yeah, I got theKorg several yrs. ago. It does have an aux input I use with my laptop if I want to play along with a jam track, but can't record to pc

are you recording straight from the pedal to the computer? or did you mic the amp?

Anyway. It's $300.

boss me-70 or digitech rp-500? whats the difference?
Kristianeb 1 year ago
@Kristianeb 500 chars aren't enough to explain all the differences. Not that I know all of them anyway. I think they're both valid products: good value for money, good reliability, good sounds. The ME-70 if 5 separate pedals, the RP-500 is menu driven. The ME-70 has a looper, the RP-500 a USB audio interface. Obviously they have different processors so they sound different. Google them, download their manuals, watch videos, try to make your own opinion. Have fun!
Elefender 1 year ago
@Elefender Thanks :D
Kristianeb 1 year ago
@Kristianeb I have an ME-70 and my friend has an RP-500, and let me tell you, the most noticable difference is that the RP-500 is really freaking difficult to figure out. But it has click-on reverb, which is kinda nifty.
onlytilthen 1 year ago
hey dude, great demonstration. how do i go from memory mode to standard mode, and how can i get it to automatically do this?
ice0wn4g 1 year ago
@ice0wn4g Ehi mate. The pedal comes with a nicely done manual, it's just 20 pages long and easy to read. :) If you've lost it, or don't have the pedal yet, you can download it from BOSS's website. And if you read the writings on the pedal itself you can figure out what everything does.
Anyway you switch between manual and memory mode by pressing pedals 3 and 4 at the same time.
What do you mean with "automatically do this"? If you can explain maybe I can help you.
Thanks for watching, have fun!

shreeshsk 1 year ago
@shreeshsk I don't know, I'm not sure you can do that. I've never tried this myself, actually it doesn't make a lot of sense to me: the looper is a pedal effect, if you change the patch, you change the effects... Use it in manual mode instead - you can still change your sound a lot using it. Sorry I can't be of much help.
Elefender 1 year ago
@Elefender k its k ... but dude think u have looped say fade to black intro in a clean tone and then u wanna play a solo over it u know using the lead patch... thts my confusion .. iv seen ppl do it but dunno how ... any ways thnx :)
shreeshsk 1 year ago
@shreeshsk I don't know the song (not my genre), but maybe you can try something like this: using the manual mode, choose a suitable amp sim, something that can do clean but also distorts (STACK maybe?). Set a nice clean sound up with no pedals, and then using the pedal n.2 prepare a nice distorted sound. Play the intro, and then switch to the lead part by turning the pedal n. 2 on. Compression (pedal n. 1) can give you an even fatter sound, suitable for a solo - sustain too. Have fun
Elefender 1 year ago
@Elefender hey thnx a lot tht helped ... cheers !!
shreeshsk 1 year ago
DUde!!!!!!!!!!! please reply to this. How do you set your amp, to get the best sound out of your me 70 cuz iv tried putting everything to 12 0 clock
TheiJordBateMuse 1 year ago
@TheiJordBateMuse I set my amp dialing all the eq knobs at 12 o'clock, and set the gain so that it sounds *clean* without the pedal. Maybe your amp is already in its distortion zone with the knob at 12 o'clock... Try lowering the gain until you get a nice natural clean sound without the pedal, and then connect the pedal and try again. Try lowering the pedal's main volume too. If everthing fails, Google your amp name and ME-70: you may find useful tips. Good luck!

hi mate, cheers. How does this sound goin straight into a pa? what do you think in relation to the gt8?
leezus83 1 year ago
Through a PA it should sound as good as it sounds through a guitar amp set on clean.
I've never tried the GT-8. I know it and it's bigger brother the GT-10 are very well regarded - excellent reviews everywhere. You can't really compare them fairly to the ME-70 as they are intended for a different target user and priced accordingly. I think the ME-70 has a very good quality/price ratio but if you can afford them, the GT-8/10 should be better. The ME-70 seems easier to use though! :)
Have fun!
Elefender 1 year ago
thanks. what about changing patch banks. can you bank up and down?
leezus83 1 year ago
There are two buttons to change banks, but they are small and almost impossible to hit with your feet, unless you have tiny, geisha feet. :-D You can switch banks with the pedals, too, but it require a bit of tip-tap dancing. :-)
When in memory mode, you press pedals 1 and 2 together. You select the bank with pedals 3 and 4, then you press either 1 or 2 to confirm. And at last, you press the pedal corresponding to the memory slot you want to use. You can download the manual if you wish. Ciao!

i've seen this for 300 dollars. is that the real price or different? oh and btw can this work for a line 6 spider 4 15

I hope this helps.

Thanks for writing! Ciao.

Do your research, read as much as you can (but don't trust everything you read! :), watch demos and use your ears. When in doubt, ask: experienced musicians are usually happy to help.
Good luck and have fun. Ciao!

what do you recomend? to buy separated pedals or to buy a multi effect pedal?i mean i have a zoom g1x wich i am happy with, but i'm going to play live shows and live it's not very good.
Catarinaxx 2 years ago

:) Have fun!

a pro? no way ahah. i am just lucky. and all opinions are important, i wouldn't ask if i thought you would say something useless. but anyway thank you ;) keep rocking.

i have a marshall mg would you reccomend this pedal?
SlashedWylde 2 years ago
I don't know: it depends on a lot of factors. What kind of tone are you looking for? Do you know what effects you need? Do you like how the pedal sounds? What's your budget? Where do you plan to use it (home, band practice, gig, world tour :) )?
I can't really recommend anything anyway. All I can say is this pedal suits *me* fine: it does what I need, I like how it sounds, seems sturdy and reliable, and has a good price. What you do with those infos is up to you! :) Have fun!

how is this amp through a solid state:)??
gunsnrosesful 2 years ago
I can tell you how it is through my little 10 watter: I think it sounds pretty good. I can make the sounds I want with little effort: I just set the amp to a clean setting, with neutral eq (I turn all the eq knobs to 12 o'clock) and dial the sounds on the pedal.
I also tried it through a Line 6 Spider III 75 and it sounded good as well. I turned off the pedals amp sims and just used it as a set of stompboxes. Hours of fun. :)

hey, I might buy this in christmas but IDK if I should really shell out the 300 bucks
Hows the metal distortion? is it like boss mL2?
RemoKinga 2 years ago
I don't do metal so I'm not the right guy to ask to. I don't know the ML2 either but, in theory, the Metal Core distortion effect on the ME-70 should sound exactly like it.
I think this pedal sounds pretty good and it's very good value for money, but you have different needs than me, so you should do your own research. YouTube and Google are your friends! :)
Have fun!

aye man... are u running the ME-70 through an amp..coz im tryn to connect it to ma line 6 spider 3 75 but it dusnt sound tt gr8 can u or any 1 else for tht matter help me out
SPAZTIK1494 2 years ago
:) Ciao!

the song you play sounds like free bird (at the beginning)... what is that song? or is it your own made? :D nice pedal you got there.
jokurandom22 2 years ago
I wouldn't call it a song, it's four open chords (I'm not sure, but it should be G D Am Em). I bet there's a million songs that use this progression. :) But I didn't have any particular one in mind when I played it.
Have fun!

Hey! Great Review!
I didnt read all comments, but I d like to know if I can get a true bypass signal through the me70 when I turn off all "pedals" and the preamp... ?
I have a Roland Jazz Chorus for my clean sound and wanna keep it. I would just use the effects of the me70 like single pedals.... Is that possible?
THX and keep on rocking..:-P!

Cheers

I have tried the pedal with a Line 6 Spider III 75W and it worked very well. I just plugged my guitar into the pedal's input, and the pedal's output into the amp input. For best results you may want to turn off the pedal's amp simulation, as the Spider already does it and quite well too.
Beware: the Spider already has a few effects as well, so I'm not sure the ME-70 is the best choice for you. Maybe Line 6's own pedalboard (Line 6 FBV) would be a better choice? Use Google! Then choose wisely!
