I don't know who Many is -- I resigned from pop culture -- but the Waterboys and Mike Scott are favorites, and this is among thr greatest songs ever. She gets it. That she reads, not sings, the "Unicorns and cannonballs: chorus is impressive. (Note she uses "symitars" not :saddlebags:):

When someone covers a song they don't usually do it to try and improve the song. They do it as a tribute to the original artist. Good Job Mandy on having good taste and doing a descent job on the cover.

If you know the story of this album, she personally picked all the songs that she wanted to cover. It blows me away because I have loved this song since the original album came out and for someone so young to love it enough to put it on an album speaks volumes about who she is. I just love her.

How to modernize an 80's classic: Take the vocals down a few notches, add about another 20 sequenced rythym tracks, take out all the real instruments and let the lead vocalist sing all the backup parts. Oh yeah, chuck in a few little breakdown parts with just a wimpy sounding drum machine keeping time. Ok I don't usually bitch about youtube videos but if you aren't going to improve on the original, leave it alone. Feels like the soul was extracted from this one. Anybody with me here?

Don't get me wrong, she's great and everything, but this kind of sounds like the elevator version after hearing Mike Scott belt it out with the waterboys. Thanks for posting it though, variety is the spice of life.

I'm a straight boy and i love this song more that just about anything. I heard it on Pandora one night while i was going to sleep and i couldn't move because the bassline was soooo damn sweet and mandy is just a good singer. whoever makes her music is ridiculous, wow

Que porqueria, bien dicen que los remakes no son nada buenos, lo bueno de todo esto, es que los teens conozcan la buena musica que se hizo en los 80´s y ojala que busquen la original, por que no hay comparacion, lo pirata nunca tiene la misma calidad que la original, The Waterboys, ese es el nombre del grupo que la creo, escuchenla con ellos y veran por que no es bueno hacer este tipo de cosas...
