Serious question: Is it possible to randomly create a world with no diamonds?

In 2 weeks of playing my map I have found 4 diamonds and they were all in chests in abandoned mines. I haven't been actively seeking diamonds for the whole 2 weeks but I must have spent at least 8 hours mining in the same fashion as in the video above... and not found a single diamond! I've lost count of the other mineable resources I've gathered, but I can't find diamonds anywhere :(

@jalkapoiss1 if you make a portal have a diamond in your hand then as soon as you reach the crafting table place the diamond in the crafting table then as soon as you go through the portal it should exit you from the table.then 2 diamonds will pop out one will be the original and the glitched one big the glitched throw the original and then keep clicking one a square of your inventory and then vuala unlimited diamonds works with any block you need

The spawn generation for diamonds has changed so this video has the right concept but is not totally right. For example you can mine with three blocks in between as diamonds like most ores spawn in veins so it is highly unlikely that they will spawn in a 1 wide area.

for first timers make sure to have water on you, 2 buckets won't hurt, sometimes you will find a lava pit that leads to a cave system, diamonds are usually around lava and water makes it easier to clear it. it can also save your life when you accidently fall in the lava.

You should probably do it up a bit more since the bedrock takes up some space where diamonds could be. I also heard somewhere that layers 14-16 spawn diamonds more commonly than other layers under that.
