nice, I still don't know how to do strategy in chess.. all I know is what each piece does and have basic chess skills... better than a lot at my school lol.
Black was no "Master". A Master would have just pushed the d-pawn as the passed g-pawn was holding the white King to the kingside. Good fun to watch though.
thats why pawns are so important, inexperienced players will sacrifice them all and then when they lose all of their powerful pieces, and theyve got no pawns they just get ran over. dont sacrifice pawns unlesss its completely fullproof
It is great you like playing chess and record it, however...
1, Please do not reffer to any of these players as "master". In chess terminology international masters and grandmasters are real professionals whose rating is very close to rating of both players here combined.
2, You played blitz chess (5 minutes each player), rapid chess (speed chess) is 15-60 minutes per side
3, Blitz chess is the most popular form of chess but only among amateurs. Real chess players concentrate on long games
boring even though very short for a game of chess. However, what I find hilarious is comparing your table to the table of the people next to you. this is the average ratio (quickly estimated :-D):
I am sorry MrSweerPotato but scottyboy is right. The game was nothing special. Especially white did not play very well. Plus, knocking the pieces all over.. Non-chess players could be impressed but chess players know this was not a top-notch stuff.
Btw, before you start questioning my English or my rank, please note I am not a native speaker a my FIDE rating is 2200+.
That was really fascinating to watch, you both move your hands so quickly and with great absolution. Excuse my ignorance but what is the function of the clock in he game. Is it some form of speed chess?
The purpose of the clock is to give each player exactly the same amount of time to think about their moves. It can be set to any length of time. 2 hours each, 30 minutes each, or in speed chess as little as 5 or even 2 minutes each.
When using a chess clock the game is lost by the player ho's time runs out first. Regardless of material or position or 'BUT I HAD CHECKMATE IN TWO MOVES'.
The guy to the left hits down more pieces then I do with 30 sec on the clock :P

@sdog1234 Ways to learn strategy:
1: Do Chess puzzles that many websites have.
2: Learn a couple of openings.
3: Attack the king, checking the most may not matter, but it can aggravate the opponent alot and he may do sloppy moves.

Your video quality is pretty good, except for not showing the clock times.
If Jim was a master, why did he play 14. ... fe allowing 15. fe? And why didn't he play 16. Rxf3?
(I'm labeling squares according to the standard convention, rather than according to your upside-down board.)

hey. i got a question, do both white pawns have to be on both sides of the black pawn, in order to do en passant?
LineriderMasterDX 2 years ago
Nope, only one pawn has to move forward two squares. Check it out on Wikipedia.

1. Master is always relative ;)
2. You know what he meant so why even care??
3. That's wrong, for example, Alexandra Kosteniuk is the Women's World Chess Champion...and she plays blitz.

It makes it completely even & fair and prevents one player from taking twenty minutes to think about each move thereby avoiding a sitting contest.
