i haven't played Phantasy Star Universe in over the year but i remember the music well. It was my favorite song from the OST and so is the Ambitions of the Illuminus remix of this song.
It's a good game though the only downside is the monthly payment for the online
question; if phantasy star had the combat and attack variety of ninja gaiden 2 (minus the gore), and the physics of GTA4 (euphoria, havok, DMM) then would it be the most epic rpg game ever?
If it had a plotline similar in scope and epic to Phantasy Star II but fleshed out as well as a modern RPG as well as some decent art direction (preferably Rieko Kodama/Tohru Yoshida of Phantasy Star I, II, IV, and Skies of Arcadia)
Phantasy Star II drew it's inspirations from H.G. Wells and H.P. Lovecraft. PSU draws it's inspiration from cheap kid's anime like Naruto. None of the throwbacks to the old PS storylines carry the significance or weight the originals did. It's cheap crap.
It doesn't matter. PSO Ep I & II (And Ep III / Blue Burst) had a horrible storyline which wasn't even coherently delivered. They hid it from the player, which considering the nature of the game as multiplayer is both a horridly bad decision and a stroke of brilliance.
Still, the storyline - if you decide to follow it - is bad. Not as bad as PSU's, but still rather schizophrenic in it's coherency and point.
I did like the initial end to Ep I leaving the player with Rico's death - although her soul free - and still very much left with the other social and political problems still present, and it's ending song "Can you still see the light" is probably one of my favorites - perfectly summing up the arduous nature of the storylines both classic and contemporary.
This is part of why I hate PSU's "Save this world" and the overall tone of the game's story. It turns tragedy into comedy. Phantasy Star has always flirted with the line between the two - and in doing so - has given the players a fantasy that feels a bit like reality.
PSU, and to a lesser degree PSO, has turned tragedy into comedy - and as a consequence has turned the series into a cliche children's anime tripe worth little merit.

Phantasy Star has traditionally been a marked by a strong streak of bittersweet trial and tribulation undercurrent to the storyline since PSII's distopian setting which draws strong parallels from classic sci-fi (such as H.G. Wells Time Machine and PSIV's H.P. Lovecraft parallels)
As PSO Ep I's atmosphere was largely influenced by PSII's hybridization of tragedy and triumph - "CYSSTL" is iconic of the franchise IMO.
PSU's influence seems to be mostly PS plagiarism and pre-teen pop anime.
Final Fantasy VII: Last Order. It comes on the second disk of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Childern Limited Edition Collector's Set (NOT the two disk special edition)
Yeah I noticed that too. In the lyrics it says that but the song says something familiar to "Fate" soooo.....thats something they sang wrong on that wasn't in the lyrics, or they just.....didn't type it right.
What made this video really hard to make is that the song couldn't stick to the timeline... It kept on falling behind. So it took me over 8-9 hours to make. It was a real pain, but it worked out nicely.
That was really pretty...my favorite parts were around 2:00. I hope your brother likes it. I haven't played PSU yet. I do like the song though, and it really works for FF7. 5 stars for you!!

I don't like "Can you still see the light". It is a depressing song. "Save this world" on the other hand is full of spirit and so inspirational!

Personally, I think if you consider "Save this world" to be inspirational - then you have yet to be exposed to real inspiration.
To me... JFK was inspirational. Wagner was inspirational. Monet was inspirational.
PS is a god damned video game. It's not inspirational in the least... unless you're like, 10 years old. I love the series... but come on... get real.
The classics may have been 2 dimensional as well, but at least they gave nods to greater sources of texture... not just more 2D crap

This was an AMAZING video.
Why?
1. Just because it was.
2. Final Fantasy VII is FREAKIN AWESOME!
3. Phantasy Star is pretty cool, and even if the song sounds like a bad opening to a 4kids anime, its still awesome.
Nice job! 100/5 stars! *faves and subscribes*

I'm sorry for sounding a bit like a perfectionist, but the second verse says "so don't say that it's fate" and not "so don't say that it's fine."
The video is also very good, even if you call yourself a beginner.
