i think he is the dictionary and institution of music,u will find every thing in him,for me he is still the 1 in south asia,rafi ,kushor,lata and others are good too,but nusrat fateh ali khan is on diff level,u cant compare him to some 1,simply there is no 1 born so far that u can compare him with ustad nusrat fateh ali khan.

Rafi ,Lata, Kishore started singing when Nobody ever knew of Nusrat sahab or any of his family...They followed K.L.SAIGAL who first started playback singing.... check the history and see when Nusrat Fateh ali khan started singing...It was only due to Rafi, Kishore that singing became popular...

Mr. Faqeer Ahmed Sahib, Yes, Rafi Sahib has a wonderful voice and I respect that you have your preferences but Nusratji is still brilliant. I don't mean to argue, but if a child can tell me that Nusrat doesn't sound good, then I guess that child is not that educated in the music. We all have our preferences, but it is a fact that Ustad Nusrat Ji earned the recognition of a great musician, as well as Rafi Saheb. It is now left to our opinion on who is better. I hope you can understand Sahib ji.

@FAQEERAHMED The reason you might feel Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Saheb sounds like a screaming child is because this is a HORRIBLE recording. But I can assure you, Rafi Saheb is a good singer, but he is nothing compared to Ustadji. Although, Rafi Saheb has his strengths that may be preferred over Ustadji, but he cannot span the variety of singing that Ustadji has.
