  • oh how i love brent and jerry and the entire grateful dead

  • I named my cat after Cat after this song, long story short, my sister had to take her for me, and when the cat died, she had her ashes saved, and the memorial read, "Cassidy", not "Cassady". It was hard to keep my mouth shut, I told her how she was named, but I don't want to be a beeyatch, so I will just continue to enjoy the song as I always have....Live well Cassady.....

every time i hear this song i get goosebumps (along with a few other dead songs, i'm sure y'all can relate)

  • Can you guys all just give me a green thumb for this comment?

  • @porkfrieddylan Sure man!

  • My bestest friend was named Cassidy. She was my dog, and she passed away today at the age of 17. I'm sure she's annoying our other dog, Ripple, that passed away in October from a brain tumor.

We'll see you again, kids! Then we'll all go on tour. :)

  • I was at this show, I am dancing in the back. I really love this song and decided at the 6/21/1989 Shoreline show that I was going to name my first baby Cassidy. I did and she is 17 yr. old now.

  • I named my dog Cassidy, and see, too was 17 this past December 1st. Sadly, she passed away today.

Here's to a long, happy life for your Cassidy!

  • Actually, this song might seem to be a misspelling of Neal Cassady's name; in fact the song primarily celebrates the 1970 birth of baby girl Cassidy Law into the Grateful Dead family, though the lyrics also include references to Neal Cassady himself.

  • i remember following the hog farm bus across new mexico and being left in the dust only to discover cassidy was driving-he could always leave us in the dust even driving a v rod-god bless those times

  • SWEEET.... Awesome vid brings be right back to this time and how good it felt to be at shows with cool people!!

  • This is my 15 year old girls name. We were in Highgate Canada in 1991 and I was8 months prego. Everone was routing for me to have her there but didn't happen for about a month later. Had great time camping in tent on Lake Champlain french speaking campground. Skun invaded tent but didn't spray. Missed all the balloons though, Ken or Sharron Where are You? Call us in Maine.

  • How is she 15 when she was born in 1991? wouldn't she be 17/18 years old? I hope you mean 1994..

  • Hi, Yah, Y U R right, I was having a tearful moment. I get my wedding day year mixed up with my daughter b d year. I am blond sometimes.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm gonna name my girl this too, because of this song. I hope she wants to dance with her father to this song at her wedding, its so fitting. Well except I think it could be interpreted as her husband dying, but whatever.

  • Wow, this is the shit

  • I have 2 boys, but if I had a girl this would have been her name: Cassidy Rose. And my hubby can't cut his hair!

  • I guess you could have named your son Neal...

  • this was almost my name. when im 18 im legally changing it to cassidy

  • Good to see a young Dead fan... check out Grateful dead 6-26-94 "So Many Roads"... The Grateful Dead really has an endless array of songs as well as their derivative... Yo go, Cassidy...

  • Damn Warrior, nice descript.... :-(...

  • I can't believe all the folks below whose name was inspired by this song. My wife and I almost did the same, but the gender of the child did not cooperate.

  • My dad named me after this song.

    He over dosed a year ago/;

  • Very sorry, my friend.....Peace to you.

  • Great show. Thanks for these...

  • like this song so much i named my daughter after it the song is about death and rebirth(death of neil cassidy and the birth of cassidy law) and it just so happens that i was going through both at the time of cassidy's birth. cassidy was born on earth day imagine that. this year i will have the honor of seeing the dead play on 4/22

  • Denver 5/7.. :)

  • Saw them last night at Shoreline, also for the first time since '94 (Vermont)! It was AMAZING, I thought I was dreaming, I couldn't believe my ears. Beautiful. They did Cassidy and I literally got goosebumps, it's one of my all-time favorite Bobby songs... the magic is STILL THERE!! Jerry's presence was real. Even more special because my first show ever was at Shoreline, October 1988...

  • I was there on Sunday too. Amazing show - magical indeed. I can't stop thinking about it and wish I could relive it.

  • WHat a hunk Bobby is with that ponytail!
