@Jakyle1 If God hates gay people then why does he keep making so many of them? Oh I bet you will come out with some reply like "God does not create gay people, it is evil spirits that make people gay". I have heard that so many times from you Christians. Well if that is true then show me at least one gay person that you Christians have cured!
Right on, Anne! Seems to me, you aren't rejecting Christ, but the church, and taking a page from Gandhi's book by Being the change you wish to see in the world. I'm with you all the way.
Just right up the bat, don't care who hates me. Just because your a Catholic, doesn't mean your a Christian, and definitely not when your a Mormon or Jehovahs Witness, these are all Religious groups. Christianity is something far more... Different.
what get's me is that christendom is very very quick to preach, but none of them are really living according to the message they spread. if your god thinks something is a sin, is it your job to judge the person accordingly? if it's your job to relay the word, why is it always unclear who the message is from? if he exists, one would assume his will to be crystalclear, yet some use it to beg for money, others do good deeds, others are scared to comment. a bit indecisive bugger, huh?
I love God, i Love Jesus, but religion not, because they don't follow what Jesus said: that we are all the same in God's eyes,we are all humans ,and he loves everybody :)
@RoxyCherryRozy Actually I used to say I don't belive in god but I believe in Jesus. In, "treat others as you wish to be treated, the least among us are our masters, love your enemies", I believe. Jesus was invented to bring non-Jews under influence of Zionazi world domination. "In God We Trust" on $. Read godisimaginary(dot)com Jesus was a jerk. He was okay with slavery, if your hand offendeth thee cut it off, came to break familes apart...just keep handpicking what you want and bow down then
I made a response to this video. Wow I believe in Jesus. Wow I'm married to a Muslim. Wow my Mom was a victim of the Catholic Church. I got a rude comment from a Fundamentalist. Something to the effect from the Catholic Church to a Muslim you've went into the frying pan from fire. He went on to tell me Islam is Sick. Gee I wonder when Christ walked the earth he told people they were sick? I like the the Catholic Church, Father Damien went to help the Lepers and many Artists: R catholic
I agree with Anne! You can love God, yet dispise institutionalized spirituality - which is religion. Christianity has been so hateful reguarding so many topics and is anything but loving. Read the Old Testiment and you wont find a loving, kind or caring God there. Keep thinking for yourself Anne!!!!!
When one does not believe any god's exist, there is nothing that would change that persons view, unless a god presented itself to that person, which I'm sure didn't happen in her case. She's still deluded, just not as much as the fundies.
@rickychuter And I do understand that there will be people who can never understand this. There will be excuses. There will be attempts to force a definition of what I feel and what every other homosexual feels and how it is not true love but a sickness. I don't give a shit if it's PC or not. The fact that we can't produce offspring doesn't make our relationship immoral or sick any more than the relationship between a barren woman and man. If this love isn't real, then love never existed at all.
Thing is, there are so many things in the Bible and it's like priests pick and choose what to condemn and what not to condemn. What about all the other stuff like stoning people or the oppression of woman? Woman are liberated so why we struggling still with gays? WHO THE FUCK CARES!
I love believing in God, but I hate being a Christian sometimes, because so many of us hate one another, kinda goes against the whole teachings of the bible tbh :L
I totally understand where she's coming from, religion does not save, only Jesus can. Being Christian is about following Him and his word, not like we see fit but as He expects us too. We may not understand it, but the word is clear on what is sin and how it separates us from God. I have a gay brother and I love him, but not his lifestyle. Believe me, I've debated with God about this issue time and time again. After much prayer, He gave light. Wish I had more space to explain. Trust God!
You dont need to be part of a group to be a follower of Jesus. In fact I think if you are truly a follower if him the only sane thing you can do is distance yourself from organized religion. Hats off to Anne for being so courageous.
i spoke before i watched this video. some of what she said is true. a lot of what so called "Christians" do is NOT what Jesus would do! it goes back to lots of "Christians" are not true Christians. i don't think she should just stop going to Church. Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of some, but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
wow. she has some learning to do. first of all Mormons are not Christians and tons and tons of professing Christians are not Christians at all. has anyone read Matthew 7:15-23? also, Philippians 1:6 says, "And i am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." so if she just one day up and walked away from Christ's redemptive work then it's obvious that she never was really a true, saved, justified, sanctified, born again Christian.
Bless her heart. I like what she's got going on right now, though. I wouldn't want to be apart of any dispute, either. I find comfort in just worshiping God in my own way...by myself. Not with anyone else around to possibly hurt or persecute me for my ideals and beliefs.
I am Christian, but no way do I persecute gays, oppress women, etc. I feel that everyone has a sin and everyone's sin is different. Who are we to judge those people whom the church (according to Rice) persecutes? Christians, themselves, are disregarding God's Holy Word by putting their fleshly judgments before what God tells them to do.
So much Love & Respect for this woman and her view. This may offend many but it only offends those who truly do not understand what it means to have a personal relationship with God.
You have to be an independent christian or you can easily fall into the pit of subjection without question, other peoples opinion of how your conscience should work etc. I've tried many sects and fall into the category of "I answer to God on my own, no thanks to you, I pray without your prodding and opinion of what to pray for, thanks anyway, I am not you and you are not God, go away while I pray".
I can accept a person's religious affiliations if this person is learned in other's, because how can a person say that he or she is something when they don't know what else is out there. Back in the day, people couldn't read and believed everything the church said- mostly through fear- intimidation... We've evolved... By attaching to your religion hatred to other religions and others' beliefs only hursts and destroy s your own religion. God is still God, Jesus, Mohammed etc we choose...
Annihilations of people in the name of God? Slavery? etc, etc. etc. God is much bigger than our petty differencesAnnihilations of people in the name of God? Slavery? etc, etc. etc.
One does not have to believe in Christ to believe in God! I'm godly and have faith in God and I'm not a Christian and I personally feel that the Bible- it's barbaric and written by men who were either in power or had something to gain or something to control. .
@wkdmorgan61 believing in god without a personal relationship or not even knowing his name is like being a fatherless child, you believe that you have a father but you dont know him. This is the very reason Christ was sent. I believe like Anne Rice, the organized religions are crazy i believe what Jesus said and did and its a stark contrast to what these people are doing today.
@puppetmaster1777 I agree. I don't consider myself a Christian. I think there's a lot of bad stigma attached to the religion itself, which is why I don't get too close to it. But I do agree that Jesus said some very beautiful things. He taught that we should love everyone, not hate them. No matter what they do. And here are all these 'Christians' doing the exact opposite. Hating instead of loving. Judging instead of letting God be the judge.
@puppetmaster1777 Well what is God's name? Jesus is not God. Further, to believe in God does not necessarily mean you have to believe in Jesus or Mohammed or the like. Who really knows what "Jesus" said? Buddha said similar things, " You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. The bible was written by men to keep the masses in line. It's funny how we're to believe and follow the bible blindly, but then again, let's pick an choose. Which is it?
@wkdmorgan61 Because to believe in that is just to be going backwards instead of forwards. The bible is like a horror book; killing of the masses in the name of religion, women as non existent, slavery... Mohamed said "God enjoins you to treat women well, for they are your mothers, daughters, aunts." I could go on, but why bother. I stand by my belief that we are all striving to get to the same place via different routes.
@wkdmorgan61 The only thing Buddha did was eat a lot. and the story of Jesus is the best example of how to live as compared to all other religions, because if you actually understand it, its not a religion at all. but if you cannot understand it. then Jesus words are true, "I have come into the world to give sight to the blind, and take it away from those who say they see. Do you see?
@puppetmaster1777 ...and so when threre is no answer "we" go with knocking and/or insulting other people's "prophet(s)." Yes I see, that is it is you who does not see and so pick and choose...
I never left the Catholic Church but I am sad to see how many people in America are a zealot when it comes to religion. Last I read we are not to judge. There is beauty in a many different religions, but yes I've been hurt as my Mother was a victim of the scandal. Well I guess speaking your mind- as Gloria Steinam has will always upset someone.
She could've quit of having a church label on her but never being Christian...how can she say now that she has a relationship with God if she say no longer Christian?
@Icybearg450 because if you actually understand the bible its a personal relationship with Jesus. there is no confusion at all. Jesus said many will come in my name but they are false, do not go with them.........
I was riased Catholic, some of my family turned away after the scandal. I live with my Muslim Husband and after I went to Gaza I definitley am not a Fundamentalist Christian. I don't believe in judgeing others so hats off to Anne Rice.
DanielHazel, From Catholic church to a Muslim husband. Talk about from the frying pan into the fire. The Catholic church may have scandal which causes you to leave it, but the Sharia courts have only allowed one 8 yr old (out of many child brides) to divorce because a European lawyers came & fought for the girl followed by paying her $300 fee to the husband for the girl to avoid stoning (prostitution implied should an 8 yr old pay to divorce) so she could divorce. Islam is sick.
People say she will go to hell for no longer being a Christian, but what they don't realize is that this 'evil' that they say she is spreading is entirely a matter of perspective. Christians think that perfectly harmless things like homosexuality are 'evil', but to me the most 'evil' thing of all is the zero tolerance and total rejection of all other beliefs, that is, from what I have seen, what forms the basis of Christianity. I have a newfound respect for Anne Rice after watching this video.
Those posting hateful comments on here would be well-advised to take 5 minutes to visit her website, and you would see the church she attended all her early life, and how she arranged donations during Katrina to a Catholic priest whom she greatly admired. Don't be so lazy to ask questions like "was she baptized?" Google it and see.
Anyone know if she was even baptized? because anyone can say they're Christian and claim to have a "transformation", but that doesnt prove that she truly had the Lord in her heart unfortunately.
I'm not swayed because stories like these are convenient attacks against christianity either way. Those in the faith realize the agenda that is going on today. Those stories are of no consequence. They will happen
ok, so she belives in god and is a believer like anyone but she is not in the church, so GreaT :D she is like me, i belive in god but not in men, and i understand what she means, the religions ways are not the best but beliving in god and be gods child allways, is allways the right choise, at least for me :)
Getting out of any kind of church or group won´t be enough. She has to abandon her Bible study as weel. Because if she´s honest, she´ll come across some very disturbing passages which can´t be disguised nor ignored. Being a christian is accpeting the whole package and not only what we want. Even when it affects our own flesh and blood. She doesn´t have to hate her son, but biblically, she can´t agree with his choice. Peace!
I agree with her not being part of any religious institution. though she follows Christ in a none religious manner I think it's the best, actually I am not a religious person but it doesn't mean I'm not spiritual.
It's such a shame that various religions refuse to move with the times. It is completely possible to maintain tradition, while accepting the gay community or contraception.
Why did she choose the Catholic church, then? How could she not have known these obvious stances of theirs? I sincerely hope this is some sort of ploy. I lost all respect for her when she announced she was no longer an atheist.
@yoohootube To me, when it comes to my favorite writers, it doesn't matter what they believe or don't believe. If Phillip Pullman decided to become a Christian, all that would matter to me is if he kept on writing creative material, regardless of faith.
God's design for natural sexual relationships is part of His plan. Homosexuality falsifies what God designed. Sin often means not only rejecting God but denying or rejecting how and why we are made. Though it may be considered acceptable by some today -- even in some churches -- it is not acceptable to God. And we need to take that seriously.
@MsCindy45 the same design we're built upon? if the supposed ultimate being designed us to be his/her/it's image, why do we have to eat to be alive? croco eats one chicken or so a month, and its fine! were basically comatose 1/3 of our lives, why? we breathe / drink / eat through the same "pipe", why? i mean, dolphins have a dedicated hole for breathing and have you ever heard of a dolphin that has choked? me neither. yeah, real perfect design.
@gazirinth Thank you..and i agree with everything youve said so far...I noticed you said you are an Athiest and I totally respect you (like I said i do) .also i dont know if you noticed some of the previous comments..calling Ms. Rice a "piece of shit"..how can anyone disrespect this woman? She REALLY did not do ANYTHING wrong!!!..i guess I just believe in respecting human beings until they give me a REAL reason not to...this is NOT a reason to disrespect this writer...
Im an Athiest and have watched the many horrors religion had caused..The fact she has her beliefs but not amongst a non-human group that cares only for power deserves applauding.. what a strong woman she is..she sticks to the fundemental beliefs of love and humanity and not the human power-hunger dogma and centuries long filth that has halted the true growth of our species..
@gazirinth What about Athiest regimes such as Stalin, or Pol Pot, or Idi Amin... religion has nothing to do with it, anymore than "money" forces people to do bad. It's humanity and lust for power. You take religion out of it and people are JUST as evil and do just the same things, and your hatred spewing here proves it. You are full of hate and vitriol and accusing others of, well, being just like you. You show me tolerance and peace, and then I will buy that your beliefs are so much better.
@Zedul They weren't "Atheist regimes", as atheism in itself give no doctrines of conduct. Atheism is having no belief in a deity. That's it. Atheists can be just as stupid and evil as any other person.
The point against religions is that people can pick and choose what they like from a holy book, and then use that to justify, to themselves, their actions. See Anne Rice's example about the anti-gay movement, the pope's actions in Africa, etc.
@Bunji2k6 The communist regimes I pointed out were strictly athiest, forbidding belief in a deity. Murder has been done both ways "there is no god" or "god told me to" - the point is that people will use any creed to justify their actions, no matter what is: Athiesm, Theism, whateverism The laughable thing is that all of them "presume to know the truth" when in fact, the truth is unknown and unknowable. The full scope of the universe and whatever else is out there, is beyond our grasp.
@Zedul Well, you clearly define yourself as an agnostic there, so I guess we have that in common :) It's a bit hard to discern whether we should be arguing or not, since I share a lot of your sentiments. My main reason to comment was to point out the fact that Atheism, by definition, has no doctrines which people would follow. There is no dogma, and thus, as I see it, people are more "themselves" than with religion.
They act entirely on their own, with no outside directives dictating actions.
@Bunji2k6 if I might say so, it doesn't matter if you are an atheist or spiritual person, it matters the quality of your actions and speech. doctrine is not something exclusive from religion. political doctrines populate over atheist movements also. if a person acts erratically over a flat Idea over and over with no room for discussion. to me is a Jihad-ist no matter what label it has on the shirt pocket.
@c0y0tx Indeed, but those political doctrines are again separate from atheism :) People are still people, no matter their spiritual tendencies, so of course they can be swayed by one ideology or another.
@gazirinth But aside from that, I see your point. No -isms are necessarily at fault, but I would argue that some make people more readily susceptible to abuse than others.
I gotta get in bed, since I'm already way overdue. Thanks for some new impulses into my nervous system, tho! Have a nice day :)
Jesus said, “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine".Matthew 10 In reality your real problem is not with the church; its with the Jesus. You hate Him because His Words insults your belief system. You have no room in your heart for Jesus because He hates sins . You counted the cost, and you decided its too much to follow Him. Enjoy the broad paths for a season
@MsCindy45 If you cannot see how utterly reprehensible these words attributed to Jesus are, then you truly have no moral compass. 'Love me more than your own family' - what a fascist, reminds me of Stalin and Mao - they demanded the same thing from their peoples. And no, I'm not interested in discussing it..
@EUTROPIA250 Wow, you sound about 12 years old. Schoolyard name calling? What a wonderful 'crusader' you are(n't) - cussing and hating in the name of faith.
I believe in God...Religion is and always has been kinda wrong to me...I dont think of religious people as any less than myself...i respect all people who follow a religion..and all people who dont believe in God at all...So I cant "follow" any religion and I can't NOT believe in God because in my heart I do. and also I cant believe in jesus because to me he was only a man..So like i said..Religion is wrong to me..My belief in God is all I need...I dont care what anyone thinks.
@JPZINO I applaud your statement.. if you believe in a higher being that should be your 100 percent belief; not people claiming supernatural powers, that only causes destruction
Anne Rice is a follower of Jesus and reads her bible regularly. That is my religion. I've stopped calling myself a Christian for the same reason she has. The hatred of gays, taking womens freedom away, the propensity to war are not part of Jesus. Loving and caring are Jesus. Not anti-gay, anti-abortion. The main thing Jesus was against was the scribes and pharisees. And that is what most Christians are about today.
Let me try to understand what you are saying. You've stopped calling yourself "Christian" because the hatred of gays, taking womens freedom away, war are part of the definition of being a Christian?
I think you have allowed yourself (as did Anne Rice) to have others define Christianity according to their own twisted sense of morality, rather than to embrace what it truly means to be a Christian.
To be a Christian does not mean all the negative things you mention.
@OCPRS I guess I'm not expressing myself very well. I am a very active member of an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregation. I'm an assiting worship leader, audio/visual operator, member of the worship committee. Our church (ELCA) is the biggest part of Lutheranism. We do not hate gays. Not compared to Mormons, Evangelicals, or Catholics. We think that God created them. We are to love ALL people. Jesus said that.
It's peculiar that there are so many different interpretations of the bible. god must be a terrible communicator. Or perhaps there is no god and people just like/dislike whomever, depending on their natural bent, and then grab the nearest bible for justification.
I can't speak for Mormons or Evangelicals, but as a Roman Catholic I think its strange that you would say that Roman Catholics hate gays. Yes, we are called to love everyone, but I think you have confused love of humanity with your disagreeing with what is written in the Bible and the teachings of the Church.
You believe God created homosexuality? I wonder what Martin Luther would say to you today? Anyways, you are very wrong about what you say about Roman Catholicism.
Yes, Jesus did say to love one another. Somehow I think you are forgetting that we are not supposed to love sin. If God made homosexuality (as you claim your denomination believes) then this contradicts both the Old and New Testaments which speak out against it.
A prohibition against Homosexuality does not represent "hate" as you like to say. It does however identify something that is not pleasing to God.
Yes, you did say God created them. Here is what you said: "We think that God created them"
Obviously you were not talking about Mormons, Evangelicals, and Roman Catholics correct? So yes, you did imply that God created homosexuality. Read what you typed.
The christians teaches love and love only it is not a religion, religion kills people, however what ever is writen in the Bible about whatever we like it or not we shall
I am glad she loves Jesus. Can't hang with organized religion. I get her disappointment. Organized?Yes But full of love?Is everyone's question. We can't close our eyes to the things wrong in any organization, especially church organization around the corner. But, It seems though, if this thinking keeps going, sad to say- We will have a bunch of lonely believers. And this mystical body that the Lord desires will not longer function.Where will the strength of unity, help and fellowship come from?
@nondescrypte I share her frustration as well, but if she expects perfection in the Body of Christ when it is composed of sinners and saints alike, she will never be happy. I personally believe that you just gotta take the good with the bad. But I can certainly understand her desire to distance herself from the negative aspects. Also, I don't think it was necessary for her to paint all Christians with the same brush.
Jesus Christ established the Catholic church, and the love He had for all people is still the core of the church. As an institution it helped, and continues to educate all people, advance science, and care for the poor, hungry, and needy by being Christ to the world. It's time many of you actually got to the truth of the matter by reading the documents of the church rather than listening to corrupt newsreels.
@silverdoomsucks I agree that there are good catholic people but the institution as a whole has been corrupted to the point that it can't be saved. Since it's inception the roman catholic church has extorted money from it's members, used it's power and influence to manipulate political events and brutally killed people who stood in their way or challenged their ideas. and this still happens today. the holy see and the pope and everyone in the vatican are worse than nazis.
you shouldn't need a book to tell you how to treat people. And I absolutely HATE the catholic church, they have done more than any single group in history to hold back the progress of mankind. and yes that includes the nazis. Religion as it stands in this day and age is a hinderance on everyone. Grow some real strength and face your days and death with courage and pride knowing you lived here and now, and not knowing what lies ahead. Your faith is your biggest failing christians.
@GrizzG13 the catholic church hasn't done anything,it's just that some people of the catholic church are messed up and need to be kicked out because of their moral sins
Everybody comes through the church doors, even Satan. However, Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me"..John 10:27.
John 10:16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. So coming to church and not listening to Jesus means you are not His. So enjoy warming up the pews unless you have a change of heart and call out on His name and be saved from sin.
God loves every person here on this earth...He may not like our behavior! mormons....catholics..are not considered christian....they follow man-made rules and deem them of greater worth than Christs! Her point is well taken..does God love gay People..yes He does...He is no respector of Persons...legalism kills...
Seek tthe Love of the Father..you find Christs death and ressurection..Love Him back for He first loved YOU!
You know she does have a point. I mean you cant deny how many pedophiles are in the church world wide. Even the pope at one stage kinda swept pedophillia under the carpet. What I find funny is that Christians have never seen the devil or even seen it commit evil. Yet the child abuse that goes around in catholic churches committed by God fearing men should be considered just as evil as what theyre imaginary devil character would commit. So who is more evil? The invisible devil or Catholic preists
Good for her, I can respect her beliefs and am glad she can speak out as such.
I personally don't believe in any God, and I am against any form of organized religion. But I can respect what someone does in the privacy of their own home.
The Bible does not teach eternal punishment. God's love & mercy endures forever. Does it really endure forever or only in this life? How can it be Good News if it doesn't translate to the afterlife? God will still judge but He will not punish forever. He's a better father than we are, right?
1 Tim 4:10 This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers.
Now days, the fanatics on the left want us all to pray to mother earth. Don't you dare go against the green movement or else you'll get the media wrath upon you. Global warming wrath. Save us oh St. Al Gore. Save us from our own breaths.
she had me at the pope condemed condom use in Africa in the fight aginst aids.
GJ Anne for calling the christians out on their shit! I have been an Athiest since i was 20. There is no logic in religion! Its people telling other people what they "think" god wants. No one in the history of the planet has ever talked to god and anyone that says they have is either extreamly high or schizophrenic.
good on her. I totally agree with her reasons. we don't need religion. your relationship is personal with the eternal infinite consciousness that we are all a part of.
UNIVERSAL salvation was for me a HERESY a PEOPLE PLEASING idea until I saw passages like this.
Romans 5:19 "for as through the disobedience of the one man,THE MANY were constituted sinners: so also through the obedience of the one, shall THE MANY be constituted righteous."
If you take the book of revelation as the end of Gods plan then of course universal salvation would not make sense; but if you look at Paul's writings and see God will be "all in ALL" then you see love Never fails.
Religion is suppose to be about love. Jesus taught LOVE during his time on earth. Yet organized religion is full of hate. This is not a statement against Christianity,. as it would be a wonderful world if what the bible teaches was followed,. but the organized 'businesses' that claim to represent Christianity are satanic in nature as THEY are the ones turning people against the concept of a 'higher power' because of their inadequacies and hate.
That doesn't mean that at all. Its a personal choice. Until she clearly states that Lestat and other are in her inspiration, I'm not holding my breath
Anne Rice is beautiful and eloquent. I love her writing, but lost in this discussion of the imperfection of organized religion is the greater imperfection of a self-directed faith. Think of all the charity, education and comfort given by the Church. Would any of that existed if everyone was “going it alone” without an organized faith? Doctrine, ritual and sacrifice all give heft to the intangible.
@dvdthatcher You fail to realize that you don't have to be religious to do good things. Religion does so much charity because, as you have done, you now associate religion with kindness. I am an Atheist, and I am more than just inclined to help out with charity, I would even donate years of my life to help those who need it. Atheists organize many charity, the reason they aren't as obvious is because they don't attach a religion to it, considering Atheism is the lack of religion. :)
@dancingdork007 thanks for the thoughtful reply. I fully believe that irreligious people can do good and religious people can do evil. What troubles me is this brewing cliché that private spirituality is perfect and organized religion is wickedness. To me, it is sort of like looking at the imperfection in government as a call for anarchy. I concede the imperfection of government, but am fearful of a lawless society. I am not religious; neither do I decry the institution of religion.
Then the correct statement should have been" I quit Religion" being a Christian has nothing to do with mans attempt to come between you and God, and that is what religion is and a lot of churches, It is YOU & GOD, that is it, nothing else needed OR required, no having to put time in going to a building like you do for a job
Bravo Anne! The biggest bunches of hypocrits in the world are those of organized religious groups "who call themselves Christian!" I wonder if people really honestly truly understand their religion, their bible and so forth??? My people were forcefed "the so called Christian faith" and am EXTREMELY GLAD it did not stick!
no the book of romans talks about the things in the world because of the fall of man, to pick out one of the list and say God hates it more than others is evil, actually to say GOD HATES ANYTHING IS EVIL. God is my Father. Pure Spirit, light, love, Never changing the only good, the father of mercy, the author of Grace.
Bless you Ann Jesus didn't come to start another religion, but to put an end to religion. he opened the way for us to again unite with the father of creation as his children. We don't need churches we are the churches
Forth since you state that you follow Christ, you are doing right then. However pay attention to everything He said, like the fact that He is going to return just as He left and that it will be to judges the world. The Bible is clear that we are in a time of grace and forgiveness but that time will come to an end.
First Anne, a christian is a follower of Jesus the Christ who seeks to emulate Him. Second all organized denominations (even Catholic) are of man so they are flawed, so if that is who you were following then you were in error. Third homosexuality is of the world not of God. He created 2 sexes not just one. You should love your son and hate the disorder he has fallen victim to. Question is who molested him and led him to it. I have counseled many homosexuals and every one had that experience.
@rickychuter If every gay was led to being gay by molestation who was the first to start the chain? Someone had to be the first non-molested gay. And if there is a non molested gay it shows that gay people are not just become gay from molestation.
I am still extremely confused...how does she reconcile her views of homosexuality with scripture?
Jakyle1 6 days ago
@Jakyle1 If God hates gay people then why does he keep making so many of them? Oh I bet you will come out with some reply like "God does not create gay people, it is evil spirits that make people gay". I have heard that so many times from you Christians. Well if that is true then show me at least one gay person that you Christians have cured!

what get's me is that christendom is very very quick to preach, but none of them are really living according to the message they spread. if your god thinks something is a sin, is it your job to judge the person accordingly? if it's your job to relay the word, why is it always unclear who the message is from? if he exists, one would assume his will to be crystalclear, yet some use it to beg for money, others do good deeds, others are scared to comment. a bit indecisive bugger, huh?

@rickychuter And I do understand that there will be people who can never understand this. There will be excuses. There will be attempts to force a definition of what I feel and what every other homosexual feels and how it is not true love but a sickness. I don't give a shit if it's PC or not. The fact that we can't produce offspring doesn't make our relationship immoral or sick any more than the relationship between a barren woman and man. If this love isn't real, then love never existed at all.

Trust God!

i spoke before i watched this video. some of what she said is true. a lot of what so called "Christians" do is NOT what Jesus would do! it goes back to lots of "Christians" are not true Christians. i don't think she should just stop going to Church. Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of some, but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
sonsbrightlight 2 months ago
wow. she has some learning to do. first of all Mormons are not Christians and tons and tons of professing Christians are not Christians at all. has anyone read Matthew 7:15-23? also, Philippians 1:6 says, "And i am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." so if she just one day up and walked away from Christ's redemptive work then it's obvious that she never was really a true, saved, justified, sanctified, born again Christian.

wkdmorgan61 3 months ago
@wkdmorgan61 believing in god without a personal relationship or not even knowing his name is like being a fatherless child, you believe that you have a father but you dont know him. This is the very reason Christ was sent. I believe like Anne Rice, the organized religions are crazy i believe what Jesus said and did and its a stark contrast to what these people are doing today.
puppetmaster1777 2 months ago
@puppetmaster1777 I agree. I don't consider myself a Christian. I think there's a lot of bad stigma attached to the religion itself, which is why I don't get too close to it. But I do agree that Jesus said some very beautiful things. He taught that we should love everyone, not hate them. No matter what they do. And here are all these 'Christians' doing the exact opposite. Hating instead of loving. Judging instead of letting God be the judge.
Nerdicaful 2 months ago
@puppetmaster1777 Well what is God's name? Jesus is not God. Further, to believe in God does not necessarily mean you have to believe in Jesus or Mohammed or the like. Who really knows what "Jesus" said? Buddha said similar things, " You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. The bible was written by men to keep the masses in line. It's funny how we're to believe and follow the bible blindly, but then again, let's pick an choose. Which is it?
wkdmorgan61 1 month ago
@wkdmorgan61 Because to believe in that is just to be going backwards instead of forwards. The bible is like a horror book; killing of the masses in the name of religion, women as non existent, slavery... Mohamed said "God enjoins you to treat women well, for they are your mothers, daughters, aunts." I could go on, but why bother. I stand by my belief that we are all striving to get to the same place via different routes.
wkdmorgan61 1 month ago
@wkdmorgan61 The only thing Buddha did was eat a lot. and the story of Jesus is the best example of how to live as compared to all other religions, because if you actually understand it, its not a religion at all. but if you cannot understand it. then Jesus words are true, "I have come into the world to give sight to the blind, and take it away from those who say they see. People say she will go to hell for no longer being a Christian, but what they don't realize is that this 'evil' that they say she is spreading is entirely a matter of perspective. Peace!

God's design for natural sexual relationships is part of His plan. Homosexuality falsifies what God designed. Sin often means not only rejecting God but denying or rejecting how and why we are made. Though it may be considered acceptable by some today -- even in some churches -- it is not acceptable to God. And we need to take that seriously.

gazirinth 4 months ago
@gazirinth What about Athiest regimes such as Stalin, or Pol Pot, or Idi Amin... religion has nothing to do with it, anymore than "money" forces people to do bad. It's humanity and lust for power. You take religion out of it and people are JUST as evil and do just the same things, and your hatred spewing here proves it. You are full of hate and vitriol and accusing others of, well, being just like you. You show me tolerance and peace, and then I will buy that your beliefs are so much better.
Zedul 4 months ago
@Zedul They weren't "Atheist regimes", as atheism in itself give no doctrines of conduct. Atheism is having no belief in a deity. That's it. Atheists can be just as stupid and evil as any other person.
The point against religions is that people can pick and choose what they like from a holy book, and then use that to justify, to themselves, their actions. See Anne Rice's example about the anti-gay movement, the pope's actions in Africa, etc.
Atheism doesn't promote homophobia or AIDS :)
Bunji2k6 3 months ago
@Bunji2k6 The communist regimes I pointed out were strictly athiest, forbidding belief in a deity. Murder has been done both ways "there is no god" or "god told me to" - the point is that people will use any creed to justify their actions, no matter what is: Athiesm, Theism, whateverism The laughable thing is that all of them "presume to know the truth" when in fact, the truth is unknown and unknowable. The full scope of the universe and whatever else is out there, is beyond our grasp.
Zedul 3 months ago
@Zedul Well, you clearly define yourself as an agnostic there, so I guess we have that in common :) It's a bit hard to discern whether we should be arguing or not, since I share a lot of your sentiments. My main reason to comment was to point out the fact that Atheism, by definition, has no doctrines which people would follow. There is no dogma, and thus, as I see it, people are more "themselves" than with religion.
They act entirely on their own, with no outside directives dictating actions.
Bunji2k6 3 months ago
@Bunji2k6 if I might say so, it doesn't matter if you are an atheist or spiritual person, it matters the quality of your actions and speech. doctrine is not something exclusive from religion. political doctrines populate over atheist movements also. if a person acts erratically over a flat Idea over and over with no room for discussion. to me is a Jihad-ist no matter what label it has on the shirt pocket.
c0y0tx 3 months ago
@c0y0tx Indeed, but those political doctrines are again separate from atheism :) People are still people, no matter their spiritual tendencies, so of course they can be swayed by one ideology or another.
Bunji2k6 3 months ago
@gazirinth But aside from that, I see your point. No -isms are necessarily at fault, but I would argue that some make people more readily susceptible to abuse than others.

Dlanorepmart 4 months ago
@Dlanorepmart
OCPRS 4 months ago
@OCPRS I guess I'm not expressing myself very well. I am a very active member of an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregation. I'm an assiting worship leader, audio/visual operator, member of the worship committee. Our church (ELCA) is the biggest part of Lutheranism. We do not hate gays. Not compared to Mormons, Evangelicals, or Catholics. We think that God created them. We are to love ALL people. Jesus said that.
Dlanorepmart 4 months ago
@Dlanorepmart
It's peculiar that there are so many different interpretations of the bible. god must be a terrible communicator. Or perhaps there is no god and people just like/dislike whomever, depending on their natural bent, and then grab the nearest bible for justification.
vinegarthomas 4 months ago
@Dlanorepmart
OCPRS 4 months ago
@Dlanorepmart
OCPRS 4 months ago
@OCPRS I didn't say God created homosexuality. Also, if God didn't create the homosexual person, then who did?
Dlanorepmart 4 months ago

Yes, you did say God created them. Here is what you said: "We think that God created them"

GrizzG13 4 months ago
you shouldn't need a book to tell you how to treat people.
GrizzG13 4 months ago
@GrizzG13 the catholic church hasn't done anything,it's just that some people of the catholic church are messed up and need to be kicked out because of their moral sins
silverdoomsucks 4 months ago
Everybody comes through the church doors, even Satan. However, Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me"..John 10:27.
John 10:16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. So coming to church and not listening to Jesus means you are not His. So enjoy warming up the pews unless you have a change of heart and call out on His name and be saved from sin.

GJ Anne for calling the christians out on their shit! I have been an Athiest since i was 20. There is no logic in religion! Its people telling other people what they "think" god wants. No one in the history of the planet has ever talked to god and anyone that says they have is either extreamly high or schizophrenic.

Doctrine, ritual and sacrifice all give heft to the intangible.
dvdthatcher 6 months ago
@dvdthatcher You fail to realize that you don't have to be religious to do good things. Religion does so much charity because, as you have done, you now associate religion with kindness. I am an Atheist, and I am more than just inclined to help out with charity, I would even donate years of my life to help those who need it. Atheists organize many charity, the reason they aren't as obvious is because they don't attach a religion to it, considering Atheism is the lack of religion. :)
dancingdork007 6 months ago
@dancingdork007 thanks for the thoughtful reply. I fully believe that irreligious people can do good and religious people can do evil. What troubles me is this brewing cliché that private spirituality is perfect and organized religion is wickedness. To me, it is sort of like looking at the imperfection in government as a call for anarchy. I concede the imperfection of government, but am fearful of a lawless society. I am not religious; neither do I decry the institution of religion.
dvdthatcher 6 months ago
Then the correct statement should have been" I quit Religion" being a Christian has nothing to do with mans attempt to come between you and God, and that is what religion is and a lot of churches, It is YOU & GOD, that is it, nothing else needed OR required, no having to put time in going to a building like you do for a job
firpo417 6 months ago
Bravo Anne! The biggest bunches of hypocrits in the world are those of organized religious groups "who call themselves Christian!" I wonder if people really honestly truly understand their religion, their bible and so forth??? My people were forcefed "the so called Christian faith" and am EXTREMELY GLAD it did not stick!
nativeamericannproud 6 months ago
no the book of romans talks about the things in the world because of the fall of man, to pick out one of the list and say God hates it more than others is evil, actually to say GOD HATES ANYTHING IS EVIL. God is my Father. Pure Spirit, light, love, Never changing the only good, the father of mercy, the author of Grace.

I have counseled many homosexuals and every one had that experience.
rickychuter 6 months ago
@rickychuter If every gay was led to being gay by molestation who was the first to start the chain? Someone had to be the first non-molested gay. And if there is a non molested gay it shows that gay people are not just become gay from molestation.
