  • Contemplate this my young friend, it is easier for a rich man to go through the eye of a needle, than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. What will you in your comfort seeking knowledge, sacrifice, for real knowledge. Your learning is admirable, but are truly willing to walk the path that interests you. There will be sacrifice my friend, sacrifice of the pride of self, I can assure you of this.

  • Dig, first, then enlightenment, you have much "knowledge" as a "spectator", with much speculation, what is your experience to back up the Knowledge you have?. You have some wisdom, but you lack in understanding. Anyone can recite the Wisdom of the Ages, but does it give them Wisdom? Live life for another 30 years and then let us discuss Wisdom. I discern that you are not a master, but a Neophyte. This is no insult to you Your intelligence and learning is to be applauded. Remain humble my friend

  • Poetry is safe language.

    SAY IT using technological language

    and You could get killed!

    The Surround is God...consciousness.

You are the least of THAT... of God

    The Jews can relax now.

    God is not an idea.

  • you're right, I don't like reading. But I have read some emerson and it is great. If you could just read awesome passages like this to me everyday, that would be great.

  • emerson is one of my faves!

  • it's hard to understand, but at least I'm trying..=(

  • I enjoyed this reading. I liked the part of most of the wisdom of the world not being wisdom. It makes a person think. Great stuff.

  • This is so good to hear. Emerson was one of the writers who helped really awaken me intellectually. I hope you'll explore all of the New England transcendentalists such as Whitman, Thoreau and Bronson Alcott. If you'd ever like to talk about them, just drop me a line.

  • I really enjoyed this reading.

  • Greatness- this essay inspired Nietzsche's idea of the Ubermensch. Have you read all of his first and second series?

Truly the most spiritual america- Nietzsche was actually surprised that someone of his calibre came from the states

  • Thanks Matt, this is good stuff.

  • So, yes; the great poets are not being "original", but expressing what all humanity feels...in a sense, as you read,"stealing" it. Their mode of expressing it perhaps renders the feelings (sometimes hard to express) more understandable to everyone. I have not read much Emerson in the past-at least not in a long while; perhaps I should look into him again!

  • make a very loud "eeeeeeeeeeee" sound

  • Emerson is great.
