  • esta sale en el episodio 4

  • playing through this right know almost beat it even though i can pretty much not heal in any battle but bosses its still keeping me playing some how O.o

  • I waste 19 years of my life to find this, finally my lord !!!!! i remember only because i saw the frontpage of the box in one of the displays

  • I love the music. I wish this game didn't get stolen from me.. -_-

  • We got this for Christmas in 1991, I think. I was 12. Everyone at school had a... whatever Nintendo had out at the time, and I was the only one with a Genesis. It sucked, not being able to talk about this game with anyone, so it's nice to hear that so many other people loved this game too. Out of the four, I'd have to say that IV was my favorite. I can't choose between the rest. They all had something to them that made them wonderful.

  • The best game ever...

  • Might have been the worst of the three released on Genesis, but that doesn't make it a bad game in the least.

  • this game owns. it has the best music of the 4. it's also my favorite (i like easy games).

  • I can never say which Phantasy Star among the original 4 was the best. They all have something that I liked.

With me, 3 was great in story and music execution. The battle music changing based on situation (I'm a sucker for sound syncing), the overworld theme getting progressively better as party members were added, and something sad played when the main character for that generation had to be revived. As for story, I love branching scenario paths regardless of story.

  • This song always reminded me of the SimCity start screen or the ending to Super Mario Bros. 3, probably because of the same chord progressions at certain spots.

  • Just marvelous this game is. I have good memories with this one, the storyline is unique. I had more fun with this more than PS4.

  • @peristrojka

PS4 certainly is better balanced in its conception, probably why I could play it twice with enjoyment, which I couldn't for PS3. However, it's still PS3 that obsesses me until this day, because of the incredible ideas it has in the scenario. My dream is to have a remake of it, with better graphics, sounds, less battles, diversity in the designs (dungeons, maps and villages), clearer menus, stats on the weapons etc. Lots of things actually, but that would be justified for once !

  • @WAMEDJO

I've played PSIII every single generetion. But it was my first RPG on the Megadrive. It's more of a challenge than PS4.

  • PS2 was the best. This was the second best of the series I think.

  • I think with the story and all this one had the most heart

  • This game is nothing short of amazing. I still play it even now, years later. So many options to choose from, top game. And the music? I need to find it for my ipod so if someone can point me in the right direction.....

  • In my opinion, this is the BEST video game music ever! I simply love this "intro" theme. Overall, PS3 had the best music in the series.

  • Seriously! These are all themes mixed with a pinch of "Roger Waters" and "David Gilmour" sounds!

  • i didn't like that they didn't show the characters fighting like 2 and 4, but i played the hell out of this game. in rhys's generation, i bought mieu 2 planar claws and bought rhys 2 royal needles. i guess that was my first experience of gold farming ;p

    good times.

  • I really, really, really, really hope that Nintendo realizes that number 4 was the best of the series and needs to follow 3 on the Virtual Console.

  • Ya i totally agree man WAKE UP NINTENDO!!!

  • It'll happen. If they can release Ys: Book I and II, then they can release all the Phanatasy Star games.

  • They already did, they have all been released in the Wii VC. =)

  • @BradTheProducer

Erm... Sega... not Nintendo.... SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T! Like sink...

  • @viraticwars I'm pretty sure Nintendo has more say than Sega about what comes out on Virtual Console.

  • The reason why this game was so off track from the others was because this was not made by the Phantasy Star team. It was made by the people who did Golden Axe.

  • even though it was a different team but I feel like it is part of the classic PS universe, whereas I never quite adapted to PSO and PSU modern games and accepted them in as PS-thematic.

  • I call this song the Story Theme(it plays while a synopsis of the story is explained), and it is legendary. It fits the game and the series too; Phantasy Star and Shining Force, two of Sega's highest achievements, were the best RPGs of their time.

Man this really brings me back. Good times...

  • Sega has given many names to this track: "TOWARDS THE NEW JOURNEY" (GSM 4), "The Journey Begins" (GSM live), "The Traveling Which Becomes New" (Beep!), "Theme" (Sega-con) and lately with SegaRock and the most recent PS release (Phantasy Star -first series- complete album - CD3,track1) is now simply called "Main Theme".

  • God I loved this game. I first played it when I was 8 on the good ol Sega Genesis. Hey Crackwhore2007 I love your name :)

  • God I love phantasy star :| Phantasy Star IV most, it is soo amazing.

  • This brings back me good memories!! It's the first RPG I've ever played, 16 years ago!

  • this was a slightly rushed game, they could have done better on it, but still it is an excellent game, i miss it and 2 and 4 i need the meulators, if anyone knows where to get them ill be forever grateful

  • Great game , but 2 and 4 are great too. I can't choose the better of any of them because they're all sooo good.

  • Phantasy Star is love.

  • One of the best games ever made for SMD.

  • Not just games. Series. II-IV, as well as the SMS's I, are four stunning examples of what SEGA can do when they truly want to make a great game.

  • Yes, I have also played all four parts but this is my favourite.

SEGA has always been about quality both technically and content wise. While there were some really great games for the early NES such as Zelda I and II, the NES for me will always be about technically crappy games with flickering side borders, garbled graphics and noisy sound, or instantly-on-the-market remakes of the latest Hollywood movies, sometimes completely unrelated to the movie and only having the title in common.

  • Nintendo came first and became the most popular and alot of developers just wanted to get on that train to make good money, that is in my opinion what produced such an abundance of utter crap games and sent Nintendo and SEGA along two different paths. It's unfortunate that Nintendo was the one that prevailed in this console war.
