because they put it on a cd called greatest country hits or w/e (i have that cd and its censored) and the cd is supposed to be rated G.. so yeah... they censored it only so they could put it on the cd...

The San Quentin Album is where they censor it. I heard the "beep" for myself, and I doubt my uncle had a "beep" button on his stereo.

They censored it so they could play it on country radio. Something similar happened with "The Devil went Down to Georgia" in 1979. The version that was played on country stations had Johnny calling the Devil a "son of a gun". The version that was played on the rock stations had Johnny calling the Devil a "son of a b____". Curious thing is, they don't bother with that censorship nowadays.
