I can't tell if this Final Fantasy was my favorite or Final Fantasy X. It's a close tie.

My first playthrough I had no clue what was going on, but I figured out the plot on my second playthrough, The plot was beautiful (at least that's how I feel). I can't go through the ending without shedding a few tears in this game. This song matched the ending perfectly.

Favorite team: Lightning, Vanille, and Fang!

Dissidia is amazing, Crisis Core had a good story although I wasn't a massive fan of the gameplay. I've never played any of the FF tactics, but I can assure you that while the spin offs are awesome, you have to check out all the actual games in the franchise. So so worth it, lol.

@BlueBunny84 It's worth getting it your willing to put about 4-8 hours of gameplay before it gets good good. It isn't perfect, I think they messed up on things also it's hard to read without HDTV. Story is GREAT though. liek before parts are dissapointing but its still a good game.

Last of all, does this game actually HAVE a main villain? So far I've seen the long-haired blonde woman and that silver-haired dude get blown, I'm guessing the Pope-looking guy is the real baddie but I've got my doubts... Whatever happened to having a single identifable baddie, like Kefka, or Sephiroth, or even (perish the thought) Ultimecia? I mean, okay you didn't see Ultimecia until the Very End, but at least you knew who the real puppet-master was.... Sheesh...

P.S. Loving the game so far (end of Disc Two), I think all the characters in XIII are lifted from some previous FF though which is beginning to grate. Lightning's a dead-ringer for Cloud, Snow is like a combination of Zell and Seifer (from VIII), Vanille is Yuffie-cum-Selphie, Sazh... Barret if Barret was Eddie Murphy and not Mr. T... Fang... I don't know, she sounds like she stepped off the cast of Neighours... oh, and Hope is an even girlier Tidus (if that's even possible.)

When it comes to the gameplay in Final Fantasy people always find something to gripe out. FFXIII - it's too linear, too restrictive, too stream-lined. FFVIII (the other "much-maligned" Final Fantasy) - it's too complicated, too "deep", too open in certain respects (like you being able to customize your character in any way whatsoever making character choices pointless.) Why can't people just sit down and enjoy the damn games for once, instead of finding something to bemoan?

@jemsrs I can't really say much since I've never truly played FF, but I've read many reviews that praise the gameplay for being very deep despite not having many elements that have become staples of RPGs. As a bit of a note on the linearity of this game, I've thouroughly enjoyed Megaman X: Command Mission, which was also critized by the professionals for being too linear. I think I can live with the first portion of FFXIII being extremely linear.

@Morpheel4ever people don't like this game because of how it was done and its crap compared to the others. the only good thing about this game is the graphics, lightning and some of the music. everything else is crap. you go through a boring ass 40 hours tutorial and then the game is fun the last 5 hours. on top of that u go in a straight path practically the whole game and there are no towns. its crap. just play 13 versus when it comes out

@link5283returns FFXIII is like a blossoming flower, it takes some time before it starts to pick up the pace. Some people don't have the patience for that; they only have the patience to play the part that starts off slow, then they dismiss it as being crappy. It's truly a pity.

I think this little debate has gone on long enough, so you have your opinion and I'll have mine. I'm sorry to say that I'm quite touchy about this game right now.

Thats a rare response. If you look at another copy of this, its a hate war, I like this version better because you accepted the song. Dont get me wrong, I dont like this singer too much, but I accept it as the theme song and its growing on me. I think a good part of the hate is just plain bias opinions or maybe some people just feel betrayed. This song is great on it's own and for the game. Hard to say if it's better then what was replaced but when ff13 international comes out, it would be interesting to see how japanese players feel about this song.
