Hi Ken, I'm thinking of buying a Ohana BK-35 bari and wondered how the intonation and action was with yours straight from the box (I know you don't play the bari too much though).
@wehappyfewmusic I don't like baritones very much. Our ukes are all checked and adjusted (if necessary) before they are shipped to stores. Intonation problems rarely occur. If they are out at the octave, it is nearly always the strings that have stretched unevenly.
Hey, ken. Can you send me your e mail? Mine is my screenname at gmaildotcom. I want to reply to your message, but I'm at work and my phone won't let me send yt messages, only e mails. Thanks!
As always Ken, great feeling and a lovely interpretaion. The Bari sounds nice. I saw the Ohan roundback one on a website - looked impressive. Any good?
Although I don't like baritones, Stew, I think we make the best. A roundback uke wouldn't be my first choice though. However, the dealer concerned is very good.
I can see why you are not into the bari. They sound like a guitar don't they? I tired Aquila's GCEA bari strings and I like it much better but I still ended selling the bari. No regrets.
For a second, I thought you'd got your guitar out. :-) I love how I can always hear every word you sing so clearly, you're really good at telling the story and I find myself completely transfixed and always disappointed when you end the song haha :-) I hadn't hear this song before, you always introduce me to great stuff :-) Really excellently played, as usual, and I really love the vocals! :-) X
Thanks Ruth. I can't think of a bad Leonard Cohen song (except for everything on an album called Death of a Ladies Man). He is a really wonderful songwriter.
I'm listening to this great piece with closed headphones and am totally immersed in your sound. Your the Magician of Uke, Ken. This sounds more than just beautiful!
I wanted to play it using certain chords an the baritone enabled me to sing it better. A tenor uke made it too low for my voice. But I don't like baritones.
This is take 1 of the first song I have ever played on a baritone. I have tested a few and tuned some, of course, but this is the first I have ever played. Can't say I like them very much so far as an instrument. If I was going to buy one, it would be this 35 though.

A hard song to do. One of Leonard's best. You do a very good job. There is a crack in everything. No doubt.

I so enjoyed this. I hope you continue to offer music with the baritone. You seem well suited to each other. Really beautifully played and sung.

The baritone I am playing is really beautiful, but I much prefer the tenor.

I have never had the urge to buy one, Joseph. And yes, they do sound like a guitar.

Nicely done, Ken. Baris really are another world. I'm not much on them, but my son loves them.

Very good! You really worked on that number. Are there some wound strings on that baritone ukulele?

Yes, it is fitted with GHS strings.

Beautiful Ken. How'd you like playing the bari?
deach69 1 year ago
I hate it. It's a lovely instrument, but I much prefer a tenor.

I think the deeper tone of the barritone works well with you voice. Some really great strumming too. thumbs up

I don't like baritones either. This one is quite nice though, all solid, the big brother of your soprano.

I think you have one of the best gigs ever Ken- oh look I got another uke to play :) hah your the man!

Haha. yes, it's a great job, but there is some work involved too.

whats your favorite kind of ukulele to play?
Carlosisexisting 1 year ago
Tenor size is my favourite, followed by soprano. The instrument I like to play best is an Ohana TK-35G.
