One guitar, One voice, and the crowd in the palm of his hand......masterful, poignant and one reason why he and the band are STILL the greatest live band i have ever seen.... RIP Stuart Adamson
This does have to be one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. And I first heard it when I was 17, imagine that. I cried so hard without knowing the hardship of life. I hated Stuart and BC for vanquishing my youth, but I loved them for opening my eyes to the realities of our world and the beauty within it. Thank you Stuart, Tony, Bruce and Mark.
A guitar and a voice is the true measure of talent. I think Stuart passed the test! I cannot say how sorry I am for the pain that he must have felt. This is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. God bless you Stuart.
It's amazing to see someone so happy and talented and not know the pain Stuart went through. Equally amazing are the number of famous and successful people who suffer the same.
LOVE Adamson's humour, referring to himself as a professional female impersonator! ; ) I find it quite odd that no one in the audience got the joke. To all here who were so very fortunate to have experienced Big Country play live, please count your blessings! I hope that Stuart found peace.
I remember having this concert on video many years ago. This song was the one song that I rember most from that show. A truly amazing version of this song. I am so pleased to be able to see it again. And as someone mentions earlier, this song REALLY should be used as an anthem for our all our troops who have served our country and paid the highest price.
Hello. Paul Kelly (Aussie) wrote the brilliant song 'Everythings Turning To White' from a woman's perspective (based on a Raymond Carver story), the film 'Jindabyne' is based on Kelly's rendition originally/secondly Carver's short story. Kelly has a few other songs written from female perspectives, actually...
ALSO, many Jazz and classic Rhythm & Blues song lyrics have been written by males from women/female points of view/feeling.
@castratephilanderers Wow I need to widen my music knowledge. Of course I knew they'd be others but couldn't think off the top of my head. I must check out tha Kelly song...

10 years ago he died, and only did I discover this today. What a depressing thing to learn. He left the world more than a decade of beautiful music.

He's beyond brilliant. I can't think of any other male artist who has sung from a woman's point of view.
