G2 overclocked to 1.42GHz!

This is insane, I am coming from the BB world and still love my 9900. I just bought this phone though for my son and I am looking forward to tinkering with it and getting it overclocked to just 1.2. I gotta read your posts and find out what files I need to get this done. Once overclocked I need to figure out how to set the profiles as you mentioned and then customize it. Very nice phone got mine for free on a 1yr term with a $55/mthly plan w Bell & a $75 in store 'The Source" credit, very happy

the G2 has a 800 MHz Scorpion processor, that is the next gen processor above the usual snapdragons. Thats why the G2 runs better even though its just 800 MHz

@YaGladshev I have the galaxy s and its overclocked at 1.3ghz now. I have had my phone for like 4 months and the battery life depends on the roms. But I can go the whole day with out charging my phone but this G2 sucks though only thing it has ova the galaxy s is the linpack score. I get a quadrant score of 2560 and a Gpu test of 50.2. THe gpu test on the G2 is in the low 30s and high 20s so that really sucks.

@jwiley904 Don't say that it sucks, because it doesn't the galaxy s will "suck" when games come out that actually takes advantage of the full power of its GPU. So please STFU...

(by that I mean, HTC phones will have dual cores and a dedicated GPU before a game that is any good takes full use of the galaxy s' GPU power... this ofcourse leaves out any benchmarks or games that has a very low amount of levels)

i really dont see how overclocking a phone will drain more battery you dont have access to vcore adjustments so your not changing the voltage hence the power difference will be minimal to none.

or at least i would imagine it works the same as overclocking your pc generally stock vcore overclocks are free from power or heat issues.

@noobdeagle Higher clock rate means more clock transitions per second, which leads to more dynamic power dissipation, and hence more battery use. For instance, your laptop CPU may have 8 freq states but maybe only 3 or 4 voltage states. In reality, it gets quite a bit more complicated when you start looking at work done per unit of time (and how soon the CPU can return to an idle state), esp. if the phone tasks are not CPU bound, so the real impact on battery life is not immediately obvious.

@noobdeagle not true my man i just temp rooted my g2 today and o.c. it to 1.4 ghz. i have juicedefender juiceplotter and super power on my phone which has boosted my battery life to about 50 hours a day on stock. but as soon as i got done overclocking, my battery life dropped from 15 to 9 on a full charge. i unrotted that shit with the quickness lol. id rather go stock and have my battery life than sacrifice it to operate a lil faster for no reason..

I just overclocked mine to 90mhz. Its a super computer. But it vibrates violently and my touchscreen finger feels sore and swollen. It also hacked into my AIM and is sending me links to its Zanga. It just posts political satire full of run-on sentences. I don't know what i'm gonna do... I just get so frustrated it can't flow its sentences while blogging.
