  • Thanks for the advice. Do you know how I could possibly make my Desktop computer run like it did when it was new? I tried deleting programs I no longer use to clear up space, but I know there's more to it than that..

  • only one way. Reinstall OS from scratch.

  • Dang, guess I won't be doing that then..

  • hey georgeou i know its been a long time since you had a comment on your video but im planning on buying this netbook and i have a few questions about it. Does it have a disc drive because i have a few things I'd like to use on it but they require being installed. And also, how much do you think this costs nowadays (Canadian or US dollars)? Do you think it would be useful when recording video/editing videos in HD? Thanks for your time and I would really appreciate your response. :D

  • No optical disk, but you could plug any old optical disk in using a USB to SATA or PATA adapter which sells for $20 or less. Or you can just by a portable optical drive that comes with a USB port.

You can forget about recording much less editing videos in HD. Just forget it with any Netbook. That's not what it was designed for. For HD video editing, you should buy something with a 45nm Intel "Penryn" processor at 2.4 GHz or above.

  • Wow that was a very quick response. Anyway yeah I don't know much about computers and processors and all this stuff (I'm 15) but what kind of inexpensive but good laptop do you think i could buy for making videos in HD or High Quality?

  • Just do a Google search for:

    ThinkPad SL400 P8400

    or

    ThinkPad T400 P8400

You should be able to find one for less than $900. And it does come with an optical drive built in.

  • Ok thanks for your help, I'm getting a job next month so with a little bit of saving up I think I'll be alright. Once again, I really appreciate your help.

  • Not a problem. But I'd really recommend that you build a desktop rig instead of a laptop if you're serious about video editing. Check my blog formortals dotcom for more tips.

  • I already have a pretty old dell with windows vista but the thing is, its very slow and there's not much space left on it. Also like I said, I barely know a thing about computers so I wouldn't even know how to fix the darn thing lol. And also I would like a laptop so it could be in my room and it wouldn't take up too much space.

  • Problem is that you really should get a cheap desktop with a quad core processor clocked to 3.6+ GHz to get a nice fast and cheap video editing machine. Don't be so stuck on a laptop because a performance system costs a lot and they don't perform nearly as well.

  • hi i just want to know if i have to download anything to make my 1000he webcam brighter... because even if i have a bright light my webcam was still dark.. i couldn't even see my face.. is there any settings?? because i can't see any setting.. please help me.. thank you..

  • I only used the default settings here, but you can find some gain control settings for the webcam that's built in to the drivers that came with the system.

  • really?? i just saw the webcam on my computer folder.. i didn't see any settings and i cannot even record a video i can only just take picture.. :( i'm sorry this is my first time to use a laptop with built in webcam.. what drivers?? is that the cd that came with it?? i got two 1000he netbook they both take the same picture that are dark even in a very bright environment.. thank you for answering my questions.. i hope u can help me again..

  • When you use Windows Movie Maker, there is a button you need to look for that let's you tweak the camera settings. In there, you should look for gain control and brightness settings.

  • thank you georgeou.. you've been very good help..

  • Great video, first one on YT me thinks showing the quality of the cam.

Sound is a little mute but picture is sweet.

  • Yeah, unfortunately, YouTube wouldn't let this video be in HQ mode so it doesn't really show off the camera's capabilities. Now this camera is obviously nothing like a Logitech QuickCam Pro or anything, but it's decent on a $370 netbook. I'm still writing a review for the Asus 1000HE and I will say it's an awesome product.
