This is so easy. When I used to detail my own cars out I would take out the seats and really do a very good detailing. This also will give you plenty of room. Here is what to do with the carpet. I do not advise changing the color drastically. If, its a dark color, use a dark color, if its a light color, use a light color. Use carpet die bought from an auto store. Spray light coats and have a brush or something nearby to brush any stiffness out. Just keep doing this and it will look new.
@94TahoeDude - Mostly people don't want shiny fabric upholstery. Simply Spray Upholstery Fabric Paint dries to a soft finish. It doesn't change the texture or feel of the original fabric. Mind you, the fabric must be moisture-absorbent to begin with (won't work on nylon for example, as it is not porous) but there is a simple test for this: just spray the upholstery with some water to see if it soaks in or forms beads on the surface.
Well, 94civiclxgrey, if you followed directions "step by step word for word', what were you doing spray painting vinyl? This product is NOT designed for use on vinyl... you must have been using some other product altogether. And chamblizi, YES this product is made in the USA, Rhode Island to be exact. Cheers, simplysprayAUS
I don't know about fabrics, but using the correct TYPE of paint/dye is very very important. my brother once used regular car paint for his interior and it stayed sticky and dirt stuck to it and it was horrible. my dad used proper vht vinyl dye on a cleaned dashpad and my god it came out brilliant. looked totally factory like a real black dashpad. didn't look painted at all. the right products and preperation makes a world of difference.
I used this to do my car, it's not shit, but it's not grate . I found I needed at least 6 cans to do my 5 seats plus doors so was expensive, it didn't get my fabric as dark as I wanted, but it did look better and does clean off easily, so I am glad I did it but my seats were already Grayish to start with so if your doing it on very light fabric might not be worth it
when i get my car I'm going to try to get it professionally painted dark blue on the outside and then use this stuff to paint the inside black and use some vinyl paint to paint the vinyl trim dark blue. Anyone think this will work?
Ignore these amusing but misguided critics. The facts are that when used according to instructions, Simply Spray Upholstery Paint dries SOFT and PERMANENT, will not fade in the sun, and is ideal for restoring colour to car interiors, seats, fabric trims, carpets. There are some cheap imitations and "knock-off" products out there which will not work like this genuine, patented, American-made formula. It is a unique paint, not a dye, and independently tested for softness and durability.
@SimplySprayAUS wow your a real jack off lol u made it sound like america makes there products CLEARLY when we all know china makes our products mainly and we owe china the most
well i can safely say it does work i sprayed mine the other day. my interia was a crappy brown so i sprayed it white and blue. looks so much better. bye the way its an actual dye not normal paint.
This paint is a water-based paint - almost like a dye. It is NOT anything like wall paint. It really dries soft to the touch, not thick and sticky at all. Just try it on scrap fabric or an old towel first and you will see that it is not stiff. Of course, if you apply a ridiculous amount and don't follow the directions, you won't get the best results.
bloody idiots, i bet my fucking ass you've talkin bout regular sprays, there is paint exclusively for fabrics that isn't supposed to make it hard and all that. I still wouldn't do it on my seats but maybe on the mat and top trim.
this stuff works pretty good... didnt work good on my seats, but good on my carpet. buy ALOT. it took 3 can just for my carpet. but i liked it...im buying more lol
ha ha! he forgot to lift up the headrest while he was painting! when someone adjusts the headrest there's gonna be a different color showing. why didnt he take the seats out so he wouldnt miss anything? doesnt it take longer to mask everything off? he sprayed it on too thick. arent you supposed to do that in about 2 or 3 different thin layers or coats to keep it from being splotchy or brittle? dont the pros remove the entire seat cover and soak it in dye? any answers to my questions anybody?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i only became a faggot cause yo' bitchass tried to suck my dick last night. if you dont want to listen to my bullshit then dont read my fuckin comment section you broke ass, bitch ass hater!! i got a real custom leather interior in my car. i'm not like your broke ass spray painting ass. people who talk shit most likely aint shit in life. that explains why you hatin on me. get a life loser and quit worrying about me. yeah, you sound broke as hell and nobody wants to hear your fuckin dicksucker!
Don't use spray paint to color your upholstery or carpet. To EFFECTIVELY and SUCCESSFULLY change the color of your seats/interior, use Color Bond or other LEATHER/PLASTIC/VINYL DYE. It bonds to the surface of the material and CHANGES THE COLOR instead of just "spackling" a layer of paint on top of it. I've used Color Bond on 4 vehicles, including my 1971 Mustang Coupe. It lets the texture show, it doesn't dry brittle, and it finishes smooth without splotches. DON'T USE SPRAY PAINT!
Paint puts a coating OVER the outside of fabric ro material, and when it dries, it's a brittle, plastic layer that cracks, breaks, flakes and generally turns to crap very quickly. If you're going to spray color material or fabric, use DYE, not paint. Dye seeps into the fabric and recolors it instead of just slopping a layer on top of it.
i painted the vinyl on my car but i put on a very paper thin coat of bondo first then painted it for better results...door panels dash and all the plastic trin is all black and blue....and as for seats i hand sewed blue inserts onto black fabric n made seat covers to cover the seats....cheap and easy fix just time consuming
TRUST me no matter how experienced you are as a painter, it looks very splotchy close up. I had K5 Blazer and the carpet had faded. I bought a can of this stuff to dye the carpet black. I followed the instructions on the can and website. The carpet was rock hard! I did it outside, with the top off and let it sit for a couple of days. I put the top back on the whole truck smelled like aerosol and paint! After just a few loads put in and taken out this shit was already wearing off! WASTE OF TIME!
if you attempt to be like the retard in the video DO NOT PAINT YOUR CARPET OR SEATS IT LOOKS VERY TAKY IN REAL LIFE.I KNOW SOMEONE WHO PAINTED HIS CARPET AND ONCE ITS DONE DRYING THE CARPET BECOMES HARD LIKE A PLASTIC FROM THE PAINT. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE SEATS DO THE SAME THING. ONCE AGAIN DO NOT PAINT FABRICS ITS A VERY VERY CHEAP AND TAKY WAY TO CHANGE THE COLOR BUT ITS A VERY BAD IDEA.
It's true, my buddy bought some of this stuff and when he had finished painting the "WHOLE" interior it looked like total crap. On top of that, after about 4 hours of drying it had completely hardened to almost a plasticky texture. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is a very poor substitution to just getting the interior redone
@payaso401 I painted my car carpet and its no where near tacky because I used water-based acrylic paint and spread it with a brush after application, in fact it is as new and smooth. It is a shame what happened to your friend but then again he should have researched before doing the job. I did not like the result in this video either because of the colour contrast but I recommend painting interior fabric with the original colour, mine is black and was fading so I painted and now its like new.
Ok quick question lets just say you do this to your car ... time passes and you want to wash the seats with like a steam cleaner would the paint come off or ....?????
