I had the same prob with my RX and i opened the case and moved the lens spindle all the way to the right and turned it on and it reseted to default position and is now working.
i know on the older CD-ROM unit (the first one that plugged into the interface unit) the gears were prone to cracking and then not lining up properly, which made it so the drive mechanism wouldn't move, which meant it couldn't read disks. i thought the DUO-R wasn't prone to this happening, but if you've cleaned the lens, maybe it's worth taking the whole thing apart and checking the gears on the drive?
i think there's loads of videos on youtube explaining it better than i have. hope this helps!
Hi Lord realcatgirllover. I tried with a screw to touch the potentiometer in lens optic with one panasonic 3do wich resets soonly in games, the result actually is zero resets, but your nec maybe needs similar adjust ... if games and audio music cds don´t work, maybe lens died. Try to open case, and see if is seeking disk or is totally stopped. Good Luck
it may just be the controller

This is not a rare symptom. In Japan, such same symptom happen very often as well. I guess it, this console solder cracked of output connecter.

I suggest checking the drive to see if the ribbon is loose.

Maybe my confederate Toneman (a PC Engine aficionado) could help.
Try dropping a line to him. You'd never know.

Maybe cleaning will help?
I don't own this system (looks like a cool system though), so I can't really help. Sorry.

Tbh, i have never heard of this system. I probably have to see some of the games. The name sounds really familiar though.
