  • dono about you but my yj is fine for that usually never have to put it in 4x4 live in northern ontario so maybe its the type of tire you have or somethin

  • Good looking machine you got there, man.

Was the front drive not working.. or simply not engaged?

  • 4x4 noob !?

  • I had a 01' TJ, The problem with Jeeps in the winter is all the weight is on the front axle. I found hanging 400lb of steel on the rear bumper during the winter solves that problem.

  • That's a great looking CJ

  • Thought you were going to kick it in 4low at the end and drive off like nothing.

  • ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Buy my jeep

    youtube.com/watch?v=IvRY7bMwIZ4

  • I give you snow drivers respect. I live in south texas and never see frozen water down here. I never would have known it was that easy to get stuck

  • thats what 4x4 is for

  • why aren't the front wheels tryin' ?

  • @Watsupwiya Because its not in 4wd? Nice jeep and good sounds even though there is a loose nut behind the wheel.

  • Nice sounding Jeep.

  • is your rear diff locked?

  • @Matthew27104 Detroit Locker Front, Limited Slip rear

  • I would highly recommend a twin stick shifter and try front wheel drive on ice in your CJ. I did this on my 80 CJ5 and really enjoy it. Far less spooky than 4wd on glare ice, much better traction than RWD mode. Very handy for alternating dry/icy pavement when you can't practically shift fast enough. It's not recommended for high traction and a heavy foot, the D30 tie rod was not designed to take it.

  • so why not 4WD?...

  • funny. buy a ford now.

  • @MrAjb123ajb One of two things could result in that comment. One, you're 12 and your dad owns a ford and you haven't another opinion. 2 you've seen that on a few youtube videos where it's ford v. chevy and the ford wins.

Regardless, they are two completely different vehicles. It's like having a classic muscle car, then when it fails to perform, you go out and say, "Get a mustang". The CJ-5-7 are an american legends known for the prowess in climbing and all terrain.

  • @MrAjb123ajb Fords are useful as work trucks and bogging. This is a restored classic. You really have no clue what the fuck you're talking about.

  • @MrAjb123ajb i owned ford and i currently own a jeep i will never get anything other then a jeep again i have taken my jeep through stuff my truck would have never thought about makin it trough and in 2wd on top of it

  • I hate ice! My truck does the same thing on ice, but will plow right through mud, sand, and even snow, but ice fagetaboutit.

  • lol I love how he puts the ebrake on at the end... yea you dont wanna roll anywhere after all that lol XD love the jeep btw

    happy wheelin!

  • rofl just get real snow tire youl be ok

  • some one beat me too it but it is funny- set that e-brake so it does not roll away and if it starts to slide then your moving-yay

  • time to put it in 4x4......... look at rigth frontwheel.... not spinning.

  • time to get a 4x4

  • Ya, trying to accelerate quickly in the snow is like trying to stop quickly in the snow... Doesn't work. You need to start off at an idle and use your engine to slow you down. The gas and break pedals are almost useless in the snow. And why didn't you have it in 4 wheel drive? I've never heard of a 2WD Jeep =/

  • is yours a three speed or four

  • @TheCj51979 4-speed

  • @motoxdudeIE V8?

  • @motoxdudeIE V8?

  • No studs? turn on 4x4? oh well.

  • flooring it only makes the ice slicker and harder try slowly gassing it to give your tires a chance to grip EH!

  • just let some air out the tyres??

  • next time dont drive in same ruts as everyone else, put left wheels in center snow and right wheels on far rightbank. the packed snow in the ruts freezes and turns to ice first while the stuff in the center is still snow. second, go slow, not spinnig tires, and if you lose grip turn front whels slightly to gain traction. lastly, use ockers if you got them and keep tire chains or two strips of 6 foot long carpet rolled up inthe back and you will be unstuck in a jiffy.

  • try not to rev (accelerate) so much at the start..... it needs to make enough friction to move just slow it down a notch?

  • how about 4 wheel drive

  • This used to happen to me in my 2 wheel drive Dodge Ram.... There's nothing more infuriating than sitting on flat ground, spinning your wheels!

  • put in in 4x4

  • @killapawner putting it in 4wheel drive is resonable but it also says IM A PUSSY

  • @killapawner putting it in 4wheel drive is resonable but it also says IM APANZY

  • what lift you got? and tire

  • @dshaw103 Ground Hawg 35's and 6 inch overall suspension lift.

  • fireplace ash u will stick like glue

  • front brakes are on

  • I carry sand for these times. But then I've messed around on ice too, for experience.

  • im a 100% sure it has 4wd, but it just might not be working or something, or hes just messing around.

  • He must just be messin around. He doesn't have it in 4wd.

  • i think hes not 4x4(four wheel drive)

  • i am about 99.99% sure he has 4wd

  • i think i see a front diff peeking through

  • every Jeep CJ to YJ to TJ has all had 4 wheel drive, except now you can get the JK 4 door in 2 wheel drive, besides who would want to life a 2x4?

  • hold on i'll get my chains

  • @Tephladon gootires and 4wd will help alot in traction spikes and chains are not a must. even ist not legal to drive with chains on the road were i live. and we get 6-8 feet of snow each winter

  • even siped winter tires in 4wd couldn't have helped that case, he was on an incline on solid ice. Rubber just doesn't have the coefficient of friction with ice required to move a 4000# vehicle uphill. He probably could have backed down, or maybe been able to move to the side, but it looked like those ruts were iced up the sides as well.

  • never let air out the tire for better grip?

  • what kind of wheels are those I think I have the same ones on my cj but i dont know what they are called.

  • what is a good tire size for a 2005 jeep unlimited

  • are those florida plates ??? that would explain everything

  • lol, because it never snows in florida? I live in atlanta and have no idea how to drive on snow or ice, I guess I would get stuck too

  • @skyjackguy that's just what I thought...

  • Ummm, just put it in 4 wheel drive and show is all 4 spin as you make your way up the hill.

  • yea 79 was the last yea for the 304v8. man tht just really sucked. great v8

  • Put boards or rubber mats under the tire next time, just make sure their long so they don't slide out from underneath.

  • I'm not even sure who makes them anymore... I think Rancho is always a good bet, but not sure they do the old CJ's anymore. Good luck!

  • i have a question im going to be putting a 4inch superlift liftkit on a 1978 jeep cj5.just a few years ago had the motor rebuilt while getting fixed because of a problem when my father was driving it. after 9 months of sitting at a garage be worked on trying to find out the problem. well turns out my dad acidently put diesel fuel in the stock 304 v8.but i was wondering if i can fit 37 or 38inch tsl boggers under it with the 4inch lift and it has had other spring work.please reaspond.

  • I'm running a 6" Susp Lift with 35" Ground Hawgs. You'd need at leat 6" to do 37" or more, and DEFINATELY need to change the Ring/Pinions front and rear. If you're running the old AMC rear end you'll probably need racing axle shafts, too, as they are weak and will fail with the larger tires. Good luck with your project!

  • I have a 2" lift on 35's. You can use less lift than 7" for 37"

  • 4x4?

  • i love how he puts the e brake on, back tires have no traction not gonna matter much if it rolls LOL

  • What tires are those?

  • Denman Ground Hawg 35-14-15 bias ply

  • Does that have an I6? It doesn't sound like it...

  • 4x4 rules

  • lol nice burnout =)

thats when 4wd comes in handy

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rear limited slip diff?

  • Limited Slip Dana 60

  • ah sweet, does it have the lockable center diff like land rovers do?

  • No. Dana 60 rear limited slip with disc brakes, front 44 with Detroit Locker

  • what about center diff?

  • No, just the standard 4-spd and transfer case.. it's not reverse-rotation and is nothing special at all.

  • woo hoo spin em up man!!

  • hot !!!

i would love to play with you when you do this ... :-)
