Every religion starts as a cult. No difference. What survives & flourishes is up to accidents of history. Scientology is less than 100 years old. It resembles religions in their early phases. You have no idea what the future holds for COS. Not that I don't want COS to be made accountable for their activities past & present. But you're seeing things from the vantage point of the time you are living in. COS could be as acceptable as Xianity in a few centuries...
I don't think there has to be a definite border between a "religion" and a "cult". I can't see why an organisation can't be a religion and a cult at the same time. Scientology is clearly a religion and is treated as one in religious science. At the same time it could be called a cult, from a sociological viewpoint. It depends upon what you're looking at - the organisation/structure/leadership or the beliefs/philosphy/ideology.
@rambergsvandraren $cientology is not a religion in any way, shape or from. I encourage you to look into scientology and then think abot what you just wrote. the only thing scientology has in common with a "church" is that it gets a tax break. You are obviously a shill for the scilons
@holypsychopath i have looked into scientology, I have thought about what I just wrote. If Scientology is not a religion then I wonder what it is? A cult? Sure. It's obviously a cult, at least the official "church of scientology". But it's teachings are clearly religious in nature. The belied in an immortal, eternal spirit, reincarnation, the idea of man's liberation from the bonds of the material universe. Are these not religious ideas?
@rambergsvandraren you are correct, those ideas are religious. but if you look at the function and the participation then no it is not a religion. it is a buisness and a pyramid scam. it also was at one point a military organization.
Scientology uses mind control. Im glad you enjoyed the longer versions of the Fishman interviews I told you about, but he obviously had mental issues, as he says on his website, and wich are obvious anyway. Its not cool to make fun of him or to call "stupid" victims of a cult wich is designed to take advantage on mentally ill people, "guiding" them through fake past lives using mind control. Dont take me wrong, but cmon bud, you are better than that, I guess. I hope you dont supress the disent.
