Hey @greyhoundlover12 thats awsome! 1 more question, if I got a puppy greyhound would I be able to raise it to not chase small animals? As I have a small puppy, cat and rabbit :) thanks!
Novemberfury YOUR DOG IS AMAZING! I am thinking about buying one but we have a rabbit and a cat... Would you be able to email (or any other grey hound owner) If i let it loose in a park will it run off and try attack a young child? thats what im afraid of.
@Deadfromdubst3p hi im a greyhound expert! let me answer your question:''Would you be able to email (or any other grey hound owner) If i let it loose in a park will it run off and try attack a young child?'' thats what im afraid of. well absolutely not! greyhounds are gentle, loving breeds that do almost perfect with children! but if you let it loose in an unfenced area there is a possibility that if it sees a small animal or car, it might chase it and never come back when caled
@NovemberFury yeah im with you novemberfury. i am a greyhound expert! it is okay to do that you just give them water after a run! you see if you didnt give it water after the run and treat it poorly then i can see that would be a problem! greyhounds were born to run- its in there bloodlines since about 8,000 years ago, when they hunted hares and coyotes! greyhounds love to run so stop and think, jolimills!
@jolimills This is what these dogs love to do and were built to do. Obviously NovemberFury's dog is so well cared for that it can keep up with the car at this speed. I would guess that your dogs are so out of shape from being your pets that yes you should never try this with them. Poor things...

While that is impressive in anyone's books what troubles me, as a dog owner and lover, is your allowing your dog to run (Chase) your car! No dog under any circumstance should be allowed to run (Chase) any automobile at any time whatsoever! Irresponsible! Completely irresponsible! Take you dog to the track!
@WaxMeister there is a fence between as is written in description and greyhounds will chase anything in this case she was chasing me... Thanks for your opinion
@minispecs123 Dogs can sometimes behave unpredictably, and can jump and climb fences. I'm sure the poster of this video knew how to deal with the situation, but still, that's something I just wouldn't do. I couldn't take the chance.
awesome i used to do that out in kansas when i got my first greyhound i would turn her loose in a wheat field and hop in the car and take off as fast as i could go on that dirt road and she would keep up i clocked her @ 43 mph ............ NO ONE KEEPS A LAMBORGHINI CONFIED TO A TRAILER PARK...... THEY TAKE IT OUT ON THE INTERSTATE AND LET IT DO WHAT IT WAS MADE TO DO!!!!!!
Greyhounds are the 18th Fastest Land mammal, they reach speeds of upto and around 55 MPH around about what Chelsea was doing there. Only the top top dogs who are trained to race (and i mean proper top dogs) can reach upto 60MPH but not much more. What distance did Chelsea run, i had a Greyhound who used to run the slightly longer 645M races, she wasnt great as she liked to chase rather than lead so she didn't win too many but usually top 3 so was always a good bet (Trio) on her at the track
@sedonajet you have your numbers wrong, or your terms wrong. these dogs can not run that fast. Take two seconds and research this... especially since you claim to have had one, you should know better.
what is 80km in miles per hour ? (I'm in UK, we do MPH....). We say grey hounds are 40 miles an hour couch potatoes. LOL ! Is it faster than that? Dude, I was worried you were going to crash the car as you were filming speedometre instead of looking at road. When it went black I was like, "what happened to this guy....AAAAAARRRHH !!!! "
I have a retired racer. Beautiful breed. He sprints to the front door after morning walk... but only for his breakfast ! Otherwise sleeps 24 / 7
Wow impressive. Dont worry about these moron comments, thick people who clearly dont know anything about dogs much less greyhounds should keep their opinions to themselves. Go Chelsea.
Did you know.... The most car speed meters is around 5 kmph before the acctual speed ;) so the dog is probably running as the greyhound general speed that is 70 kmph :) amazing dogs arent they?
They not only love to run, they need to run and get it out of their system. He doesn't think he's being left behind, he's a sighthound, he's up for the chase.
@iZenSoda if you're going to say it's the fastest at accelerating, then say "it's the fastest at accelerating." That doesn't make its speed the fastest. This isn't an argument, it's a common fact. Many other animals run faster than greyhounds... acceleration has nothing to do with it. That's like saying a corvette is faster than a rocket.
@aarossell Thanks for proving me right. Speed equals distance divided by time. Therefore, faster acceleration means faster speed. Top speed is a different matter, but in no point in your post did you specifically mention "top speed." Finally, a corvette faster than a rocket? You would actually make sense if a Corvette could accelerate faster than a rocket, but it can't. A rocket accelerates faster and has a higher top speed than a Corvette, just like a Cheetah is quicker than a Greyhound.
@iZenSoda yeah I'm no scientist, bad example. Sorry, that doesn't make it's TOP speed the fastest, which I figured we were all interested in anyway. But you bring an interesting point, who would win a 100 m race, an antelope or greyhound? If it's the distance that matters... perhaps greyhounds are second fastest to cheetahs. Still, I think we're more interested in knowing the "top speed" of the fastest animals.
@BobRawksBaby They are very loyal, and they make absolutely superb pets, especially for families with children. Look elsewhere if you want a guard dog though, because Greyhounds are definitely NOT suited to that role. They are are one of the most people-friendly and gentle/laid-back breeds in existence. They have no guarding instinct whatsoever, as they've never been bred for that purpose.
@PassionatelyPurple Agreed. They are more likely to kiss an intruder than bark at one unless they were hiding under the bed waiting for him to go away! They make excellent pets. Cuddly love bugs that can go very fast.
Impressive!!! But weren't you worried she may get a bad idea to get too close to your car, or worse, someone elses?? I would have been too scared. My neighbors used to exercise their dog the same way.... lol. What a beautiful hound you have though.
Woww, that's awesome!!! My whippet loves running, too. X3 When I get her riled up, she freaks out and runs circles around the couch and usually knocks me over. XDD
@babyin80 Actually there are a dozen or so common land animals, including lions, antelopes, and quarter-horses, who are faster than greyhounds. It's okay though, you're a "baby" and have much to learn.
well nvm about the 80mph shit. I don't trust that source. But i do know that they do 0-40mph in a few strides. They did a greyhound vs mazda mx-5 episode on top gear.
Yeah that source is not right at all... even if it's Kmph, not mph, it wouldn't be 80 kmph. No greyhound dog has ever in the history of recording speed run 80 kmph. The dog in this video is your classic fast-as-hell greyhound clocking in around 75kmph. Again, not mph. Along with doing research, try using your logic. It will keep you from sounding foolish.
Lol, great video. Why do people keep saying "ooh, greyhounds don't like to run, it's cruel" my greyhound loves stretching his legs (it's straight back to the sofa afterwards though lol). Also, you can clearly see the fence in that video, it isn't dangerous.
I used to train my lurcher out of season on a sand beach using my car, Black Rock sands in north wales. Regularly hitting speeds in excess of 35mph. It's the greatest way of building stamina and speed.
wow.. this is amazing. I can clearly see the fence... Not sure what the fuss is about. You can tell the dog was barely running at first and then put it into gear. Amazing watching them run.. I just adopted one.. he has a bummed leg tho. :(

devastating news! (for this retarded dog) FASTEST greyhound ever according to guinness book of records was hitting 41.83 mph in 1994 and in km/h thats equal with 67! your dog didnt even run 60 i can bet my life on it
@weeb59 I'm just thinking... maybe this dog isn't dumb enough to get himself run over... and the driver is probably not dumb enough to not stop if he starts veering in front... just saying.
its a she.. yeah she hates running and is only doing it because she is sad.. hmm makes no sense either way. Truth is she LOVES running and trying to beat the car all my dogs do
How are you forgetting antelope, lions, and quarter-horses? all of these animals can clock above 50 mph. You guys need to stop saying they're the 2nd fastest land mammal...it's not close to true.
antelope, lions, and quarter-horses have clocked around 50-55mph. However, the fastest record of a greyhound running, and Ill add to the fact that it was running with the wind (wind assisted) was over 80mph. And, they are in fact the 2nd fastest at accelerating with no argument at about 0-40mph in 2-3 strides, which is less than a second.
(Don't respond like, "OFCOURSE HE DIDN'T DUMBASS, GREYHOUNDS ARE THAT FAST PERIOD, FUCKING IDIOT," Because I have better stuff to do than search up trivia of a dog.)
hey yeah I trained her.. some dogs dont go up that stright or they dont put in as much.. this bitch loved it and yeah training a dog to run fast involves quite a bit but very rewarding..

..unless the dog was behind a fence - cannot tell if this is the case.

@weeb59 I'm just thinking... maybe this dog isn't dumb enough to get himself run over... and the driver is probably not dumb enough to not stop if he starts veering in front... just saying.

just to put the record straight there is a fence between us if you pay closer attention
NovemberFury 2 years ago
Its crazy and irresponsible to let a greyhound run off-leash anywhere near a car.
weeb59 2 years ago
the dog probably thinks they are leaving him behind he is just trying to keep up

its a she.. yeah she hates running and is only doing it because she is sad.. hmm makes no sense either way. Truth is she LOVES running and trying to beat the car all my dogs do

a run along with a cheetah would be fun
lgnij 2 years ago
@lgnij why cheetah? thats a slaught... even a slow gray wolf or hyena will easily outrun any greyhound
xismxist 2 years ago
dude the greyhound is the 2nd fastest land mammal. Why would you say it's slower than a gray wolf or hyena? lol

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! LMAO! a greyhound wouldnt even make it to a top 10 list
xismxist 2 years ago
How are you forgetting antelope, lions, and quarter-horses? all of these animals can clock above 50 mph. You guys need to stop saying they're the 2nd fastest land mammal...it's not close to true.
aarossell 2 years ago
@aarossell
antelope, lions, and quarter-horses have clocked around 50-55mph. However, the fastest record of a greyhound running, and Ill add to the fact that it was running with the wind (wind assisted) was over 80mph. And, they are in fact the 2nd fastest at accelerating with no argument at about 0-40mph in 2-3 strides, which is less than a second.
wslx0195 2 years ago
You're an idiot too. No greyhound has ever reached 80 mph and lions don't run 55 mph.
filcox 2 years ago
I'm not an idiot you illiterate fool. In case you can't read, I took back what I said about 80mph. And, Lions are known to have reached around 50mph.

Holy shit...You've trained her, I'm guessing?
(Don't respond like, "OFCOURSE HE DIDN'T DUMBASS, GREYHOUNDS ARE THAT FAST PERIOD, FUCKING IDIOT," Because I have better stuff to do than search up trivia of a dog.)
Grubbsable 2 years ago
hey yeah I trained her.. some dogs dont go up that stright or they dont put in as much.. this bitch loved it and yeah training a dog to run fast involves quite a bit but very rewarding..
NovemberFury 2 years ago
