  • @fuckcomments I know it has been months since you posted, but I wanted to point out your flaw in suggestion for anyone else. The reason Cho was able to kill so many is because he walked up and down the aisles in the class rooms and shot people playing dead in the head. Playing dead is not a good option. The best option is to get out... class room number 2, the students went out the window and they lived.

They should of put the school on lockdown and called SWAT the moment there was a double homicide involving a gun. Cho would of had to improvise and probably would of been shot dead before he could of finished off 32 people. Instead they kept quiet about the murders in the morning. Letting Cho roam freely to kill again.

  • @fuckcomments SWAT was on campus when the shootings began. It took them less than three minutes to arrive on site. Sadly just like every other event we have seen, hindsight is 20/20. VT admin thought they knew who did the dorm shootings, so why lock down school. People some classrooms did act by getting out or barricading the door. Other schools have fought back. Anything besides sitting or laying and being made a victim is a possibility and an option.

    If you have a revolver and a set of speed loaders, you can reload just as fast. And, semi-auto only allows one shot per trigger pull, so they aren't like machine guns.

    And make the guns harder to get, HOW?

    You only make it harder to get the guns through legal channels and most criminals don't get guns from there in the first place. Many criminals steal their guns or buy them from other criminals, such as street gangs and organized crime.

    When alcohol was banned, people still managed to get alcohol out there for illegal sale.

    Illegal drugs are banned, but people still manage to get them here and sell them against the law.

    Banning guns won't make them go away as there'll be people who'll sell them to whomever will buy, regardless of what the law says. The problem are that the buyers would all be criminals while the law-abiding would be defenseless.

  • Here in The Netherlands you cannot buy a weapon in store just like in America. We didn't have one single school shooting in our longer history than the US. If it's more difficult to get weapons, things will be better.

  • But that's the problem: it will never make it more difficult for bad guys to get the weapons!

    Most bad guys get their guns illegally, which means they usually do not get their guns from a legal gun store as that leaves a paper trail and, if they were a convicted felon, they'd be denied sale because they'd fail the NICS.

    And, no offense, but the Netherlands does not nearly have as large and as diverse a population as the United States. And with something to that scale, strife is inevitable.

    Further, he tried to make various points using information that were flawed, such as using gun death statistics in the U.S. that also included suicides and justified homicides including shootings by police against criminals.

    In addition, about the boy that shot a girl, they don't tell you that the boy had a very poor, hateful upbringing with irresponsible parents.

    Plus if all the college students in your country have guns to defend themselves for the boogyman, where do you draw the line? Not everyone is so responsible like you for example. Some could kill someone over a broken nose or stealing a ham sandwich.

  • I don't pull my gun unless I have no other choice.

    This means that if I can get out of the situation by walking away, I walk.

    It's a matter of worth. If someone is trying to hurt or kill me and will not stop, that's when I do it. But, if it's in a situation where I'm not in real danger, then it's not worth killing another and putting myself in trouble that can net me a prison sentence and financial obligations to pay for my mistake.

    The problem with government is how far would they go to define responsibility, and if they'd go so far as to hurt people instead of help.

    That was part of the reason for our 2nd Amendment: for people to have power to balance the power of government.

    And "Super Size Me!" focuses on McDonalds but there is a bit more to it. I forget the specific details because it's been a while since I've last seen it, but I would suggest seeing it if you are interested.

It is only through continuous effort, focus and CHANGE over many years that it is now 40 times safer on any airplane than on the safest US highway.
