This is absolutely heartbreaking. I so appreciate how Tori never holds anything back in her lyrics. Can you imagine how emotional this would have been to perform live?
So based on comments here, Violet was her miscarried baby? Wow. This is so sad and beautiful. And it makes the happy sound of the Miracle chorus even more profound and striking amid all the darkness.
This is SO absolutely awesome! I bumped into this song here on YouTube and it just took me right back to the time when Tori was my biggest passion. *Gets teary.* =P
The first time I heard this song I balled my eyes out like a little baby. Poor violet and poor Tori, hearing this brings new meaning to miracle and shines a little light onto almost rosey where she says: "About when violent died, the cause is still unidentified." I'm glad because that was bugging me for ages and it shows that even when you think she's moved on from those three events in 96-99, she still carries them with her, not forgotten.
@BelMagick I catch those connections as well, one amazing theme that has lasted throughout her work has been doll and ribbon references. I was wondering was Violet a real person? I was taking metaphorically, kinda in the same vein as Sarah Mclachlan's "Adia." Although with Violet, she seems to have a deeper desire to change the world
Hey, I love Miracle! Tori is allowed to back-comb her hair and pretend she is Stevie Nicks or Heart every now again....having said that, this is beautiful....a lot of the beautiful "scrunchy" chords get covered over in some of her recent productions...
from beekeeper on, it's not until the release of the songbook that i can really appreciate any of the new songs. i know artists get bored and need to try different sounds, but it would be so nice to hear the songs away from the pop production, and in a context that would showcase them.
Everyone bags Miracle... I've always liked it and even asked her to play it at a M&G in 2007. She paused and said that they'd have to learn that one. They never did play it.
Oh man it seems like it's been so long since tori has laid it out raw on the keys with that frentetic piano rhythm pounding, pounding, pounding and just carrying her along. The seeds of what eventurally became Miracle? This is a real gem. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, this is great! Where did you find this? I don't think her voice really sounds like its from the ADP era here. Do you know when this was recorded too?

Definitely better than Miracle which is too glam rockish for me... Guess it's alright, but this... This is real good.

It's the cheese guitar that kills the ADP version of Miracle.

Love this version and Miracle. Miracle was definitely one of my favorites from the ADP era. I love the duets on ADP.

@Tanru2000 I really like it too. I'm not a big fan of the arrangement and think it sounds much better solo but I think it's a great song.

so Miracle could've actually been a great song.
I miss this Tori!
