To be honest, I think SGU had the potential to rival SG1. However, people didn't see enough shit go boom in season 1 and had to actually listen to people talk seriously and not joke around. For those who enjoy dark and gloomy shows though, it was perfection.

@Texas20Young For me and most others, it wasn't about "not enough going boom". It was about a group of supposedly mature adults, some of whom are supposed to be seasoned military personnel and most of the rest highly-skilled and intelligent scientists acting like they were back in high school. I understand the microcosm effect, but that lack of bearing and camaraderie among the main characters is primarily what bored us in S1. They started to fix that in S2, but it was too late. Live and learn.

SG1 was my very first love of TV show, I just grow up with it.When it was stopped, I was sad but I wanted to see how the producers will make an another Stargate with different characters in an another context.And I felt in love with SGA, I have just loved it totally, I was very keen on the character of Sheppard and the Atlantis team. but now, with SGU. I saw a few episodes 'cause I'm a fan of SG since I was enough old to see television..but the story, the characters, that's not it at all, sorry

@CIarKent take a look at RDA's website Rick had to have a couple of operations on his feet in a space of 2 or 3 years so he wasn't able to get around very much before he filmed universe, so i think if you had to have your feet operated on you wouldn't be able to move either.
