i remember watching leonids shower in 1999. there was about 60-90 meteors per minute. i was on long island at the time.

it wasn't 200 per min, maybe 200 per hour ( which i doubt) last night was the perseid meteor shower, it happens once a year around august 12th. it generates about 1-3 meteors per minute and about 50-60 an hour. the leonids happens every 33 years and generates about 1000 an hour. see the difference.

Yup yup, I've read that in1833, 240,000 meteors fell during that period, so many meteors in the sky at a time that many people were woken from their beds and stared at the sky in panic, believing the sky to be on fire. Many feared that it was the end of the world and dreaded what they would see at daybreak. Hope we have something like that TONIGHT!! :]

i saw a meteor shower when i was in virginia with my family, there were hundreds and hundreds going on and it lasted about an hour. we were up in the mountains, so there were no city lights. and there were soooo amny stars and sooooooo many metors falling. it was really cool.

Wow, saw one really cool meteor (out of 10), which I've never seen of this intensity before. It left a visible trail (a bit like smoke), could be seen over a distance 1.5x the size of the great bear and having a brightness even more than the brightest Iridium flares.

I was watching with my gf out of the car (opened targa top). Unfortunately, she just had the eyes closed (she was sleepy) when this nice meteor appeared.
