Nice driving, on the game counsel that's fun to do - with the exception of that glitch with less than 6 minutes into the lap - noticed you were lifting off the gas along with using the brake and also did some sprint car power sliding, that's how you do it - in snow, less power rules!

No, actually with the normal game, there are no F1 cars at all, the only official F1 car that ISI released was the one in this video, but there are a ton of mods you can get for full seasons. There are even some for the 2011 season, i think the best one is called "F1Factor 2011", if you google that you should find their forum and you can download the mod from there for free, it has a track pack too. There's also rFactor 2 that's set to release later this year.

The only thing preventing me from spinning out of control were my hands and feet. There were no driving aids on the games settings, but the car itself apparently has some kind of built in traction control as did the actual car. Besides it's pretty obvious that whatever there was on the car didn't help much.

rfactor has 3 levels of traction control and anti lock brakes... they can be completely disabled on the 2007 sauber car you are driving, however in this video they are not.

Yeah, i realized that a couple of weeks ago when i tried this again. This original video is years old so i can't remember what happened, but i'm guessing the game crashed and didn't save my settings, so when i went back in, the traction control was set to the default, i only remember that this was after a clean install onto a new computer. The video response i posted has no traction control turned on though.

If it were the ai it wouldn't drive anywhere near as well as this, the track is a mod and the AI doesn't work on it, i tried racing against them but they spin out on some corners from going too fast and other corners they barely move, on the main straight at the end they don't even go full speed for some reason.

Thanks for the compliment though, no one's ever told me i drive like a computer.

For anyone who cares, the game is rFactor, one of the best racing simulators in the world, the software used in the F1 simulators used by the actual teams (like RedBull and McLaren) uses this software for the physics. This track is a mod made by an amateur enthusiast and so it's only as good as he made it. The car though, was professionally designed from the physics to the model by the team who made the original software, so the physics with the car are highly accurate.

It's actually fairly common knowledge in the motorsport undustry, a lot of teams, not just F1, use it. Several F1 teams use it, i've read of RedBull using it for their simulator, however, all teams will use their own telemetry for the physics, but they're plugging those numbers into the rFactor Pro software which then renders it all on screen. ISI has been making simulators for decades. Best not become a PI if you couldn't find that from some simple google searches.

@MrMainy The game itself is not arcade at all, even though the engine is not the best. The real problem though is that anyone can release mods and all sorts of stuff for it. So unless this looks like snowy winter time, the track seems to have a much higher grip level, like dusty road surface for example. That's what makes it look so unrealistic.

You're going to have to do it with the `05 and earlier cars if you want to do it without traction control. This is a CTDP car and they have built in traction control in the car's set up, no matter what i did in the game's settings i couldn't have turned the traction control off 100%.

Lol, yeah i guess. This wasn't a serious thing though, i was just bored one day and wanted to see how the snow version of this track was like since i'd never used it before.

Even if i had used traction control it still wouldn't have been very realistic, it's not nearly as slippery as real ice and snow.
