Cool that your dad wrote this. It's unique in the canon of 60s surf music. The definitive statement of the movement. A lyric that is a checklist of everything that was surfing before the short boards came in. Years ago I heard one of the Deltones expressing amazement that the guy who wrote it played brass in a marching band. He had not idea how this song popped out of that background.
Great song sung by a great group. The song was originally done by the Clovers in 1956, but the more well known version was that of The Diamonds - featuring Dave Somerville (who is still active performing). The Delltones did a lot of The Diamonds material and brought the great group Harmony sound to Australia
We are having them in Emerald Qld on July 20th I think maybe they should all have there wheelchairs ready for the road trip as I saw them here in 1979.
I recently saw their show and I can tell you they are so sexy and full of life! I would highly recommend everyone go and see these wonderful true Aussie legends because they're just top performers....a fantastic show!! So Leo be prepared to jump out of your wheelchair and rock!!
The Diamonds & the Delltones were great friends .

I reckon this is from Johnny O'Keefe's "Six O'Clock Rock" TV show.
Pianist is possibly Mike Tseng an occasional member of Johnny's band The Dee Jays.

Definitely from "Six O'Clock Rock" - you can see the clock in the top left-hand corner in the first few seconds...
